Tunnel tour is top notch.
We had a pretty interesting group, so that made it a bit more fun.

They could do with more shade here,
It'd be nice if they planted some trees, even just in large planter boxes.

The Cafe had a decent range of vegetarian food, which was surprising.
They even had better selection than most of the cafes in Fremantle.
Good work.

I'd highly recommend doing the tunnel tour, and do it now before all the water drys up!

Loved the visit. Right from start to finish. There was someone at the gates who made recommendations and ensured we made it on time. Nigel our tour guide was absolutely brilliant. Will be back for the night tours.

We visited here for the behind bars tour, and Johnathan was SO funny and explained everything in detail with funny little jokes. He was amazing the whole tour and had some good laughs. At the front gate, the workers were very helpful with the tours and also the little gift shop had some really cool items. Would absolutely recommend coming here, I’ll be back in the future for the other tours!

Amazing experience - got here at 4:30 and there was still time left for a tour. It was the best last minute decision I've made - Brett, the tour guide, gave an incredible tour and performance around the hauntingly beautiful prison full of stories, art, and preserved history. I'd definitely recommend the paid tour here. There are also free areas you can visit, like the souvenir shop and a museum.

Fremantle Prison... the name should say it all, built by convicts in the 1800's and closed its doors in the early 90's, this place is unbelievable. The tour guides are amazing and everyone is so helpful. The stories that are shared and the ambiance of the place help to create an amazing experience. I didn't quite know what to expect from the night tours but I really enjoyed it. For those umming and ahhhing over whether they should do a night tour I say do it. It's the darker side of the prison, some confronting stories but all in all a very very good experience.

Visited Fremantle Prison as part of the after dark torchlight tour. One of the best activity we did as a family.
The prison is well preserved and the staff are very lovely. The whole tour is meticulously organized and the host knows how to build an engaging story of prisons past. Stay alert for the suspense appearance of other staff acting as past prisoners - and this kept us alert & on our toes.
Hands down the best tour we had of the prison. Do book tickets in advance as they get sold out fast.
The tour last for 1.5hrs so be prepared to walk. Be aware that some of stories paint a depressing past - but the host gives ample warning when such events are narrated.
They also had prison exhibits on display including beautiful artwork dome by prisoners, the dress the wore, stories of some prisoners etc
If you visit Perth and fremantle, do not miss this tour!

Outstanding place to visit - a tour cost $22 for over an hour of touring the prison, our tour guide James was witty and funny throughout as well as knowing a lot of detail and obviously enjoying his job! Overall a very interesting piece of history here, I’d highly recommend a tour

Excellent tours, highly recommend the tunnel tour. Well worth the money. The prison is very well preserved and maintained. Some free things to view if you don't have time to tour.

There are 4 guided tours available, suggest for visitors to take a look at the website for details of which ones to go for. Each tour can take 1.25hrs to 2.5hrs.

The guides were really amazing and knowledgeable. They told many funny and memorable stories about the history of Fremantle and the prison, the convicts, how they got shipped here, lived and rioted.

Those without tics can view some galleries near the gate, but cannot enter the prison.

The Tunnels Tour with Sarah was phenomenal - her humour was out of this world and made you feel really comfortable before descending below the prison in close quarters with strangers. Would highly recommend the tunnels tour, and would be best to book in advance. Winter the water is higher, summer the water in the tunnels is about thigh height.

We really enjoyed our visit to the Prison doing 3 tours of the facility. (The best one was the prisoner tour but the True Crime and Convict tours were also informative.) The guides were knowledgeable and entertaining. A great insight into the WA convict and prison system.

Brilliant, knowledgeable, friendly guide. Well preserved prison with lots of atmosphere. I love a prison, having been to Alcatraz and Robben Island and this didn’t disappoint. Good quality souvenir key (I collect them) from the shop too! Definitely worth a visit if you like this sort of thing.

Went on Behind Bars Tour. Excellent commentaries and enjoyed it very much. We went on this tour because it mentioned being 100% wheelchair accessible but it isnt. I would say 95% only as we still have to maneuvere on tiny steps and uneven surfaces. Still, staffs were helpful and it was a fun day!

Excellent tour by Fran. I booked onto the tunnels tour & after signing your life away lol (only a standard waiver) Fran started the tour with a brief history of the prison.
Don't drink too much the night before I'd your on an early morning tour as they do breathalyser you for H&S.
The tour was excellent going down 17m underground attached to a ladder system then through a low ceiling tunnel you reach the boats & the water tunnels. Going in 2's along the tunnels the water is crystal clear. Until they turn all the lights out. Then asending the ladder system again. I did end up with a blister in my palm from the climbing so gloves would've been good. (Only found out they had them at the end).
Definitely one of the best tunnel tours I've done (I've done a few).
Thanks Fran & her team who assisted.

We enjoyed several hours touring the prison with an excellent guide. Plenty of exhibits and curios to hold even the youngest of explorer’s interest. IMHO the top attraction in Freo.

What a fantastic tour we had with Sarah! She is so knowledgeable and shared so much interesting facts about the prison in the early days and some of its inhabitants. She obviously loves the history of the prison and it really comes through on her tours. We wished we had more time, so that we could have done more than 1 tour, especially the tunnels. We went on the first tour of the day on an extremely hot day, remember to take water, you'll need it!

Visiting from Sydney.
We did the Tunnel tour.
Our tour guide, Benny, was fantastic.
Very interesting history re the tunnels under the prison.
And yes you do need some fitness level to go up and down the stairs.

The information about the prison was also interesting.

Would recommend this tour.

Parking at the site was a bit expensive. Parking is available around the street nearby for a lot less.

I did the Convict tour approx 1 wk ago & loved it. Ken, the guide, was knowledgeable & passionate. Thus, I returned today for the " Behind Bars" & "True Crimes" tours. I enjoyed the Behind bars tour due to the guide but did not enjoy the True Crimes tour as much. I think it depends on the guide, their passion & charisma. Stephen is also softly spoken & it was difficult to hear on times.
