Cafe Escargot

We had a lovely lunch for Valentine’s Day and selected freely from the extensive menu. We can highly recommend the slow-cooked beef ragout with ricotta gnocchi. The gnocchi was light and complemented the rich stew perfectly. The Spanish meatballs were also full of flavour and were served with vegetables perfectly cooked, grown in the veggie patch. The owner/waiter Doug was friendly and efficient. He gave us a quick tour of the greenhouse event space after lunch. The garden features a magnificent chestnut tree whose nuts feature in the menu also. We recommend this restaurant for a special occasion lunch or dinner, but you must book first as it is only open through reservations.

We had a great time having dinner and staying the night at Cafe Escargot. We even saw a koala climbing up the tree at night. We are grateful for being well looked after by the friendly owners. A five stars experience !

Thoroughly enjoyable visit to Cafe Escargot. Host was generous with her time. It was great to learn about the diverse offerings from the farm. Food was delicious. Farm fresh veggies, farm raised beef & escargot and boutique wine were delightful. The four of us finished every tasty morsel. Look forward to returning another day.

What a gem of a place. Vincensa and her hubby run a beautiful restaurant that has amazing Italian and local food. The escargot was also amazing. First time I have had chilli escargot but it was an experience. they are local escargot farmed in Mirboo. The gnocchi was amazing too as was the salad made from local ingredients. I felt I was back in italy in a trattoria. A must if you are passing by. We will return.

My wife and I were in the area for the long weekend and stopped at Cafe Escargot in Mirboo North for a late lunch before heading back home. We were really glad that we did as it was a really nice experience. The homestyle mediterranean cuisine was delicious and the place was in a wonderful country setting. We tried and enjoyed the french style escargot, homemade gnocchi with ragu, the homemade French pie, and chocolate chestnut fudge cake made with with chestnuts from their own tree on the property. Everything was very tasty and enjoyable. The owners Vicenza and Doug were really friendly and hospitable. We were pleased to learn that they use locally sourced produce and ingredients that they also grow themselves. Definitely worth visiting. Looking forward to visiting again in the near future. Thank you for the lovely experience.

Had a wonderful experience with family members last weekend. Fantastic venue , very friendly staff and the meals were enjoyed by all. I had the salmon with Mediterranean vegetables and it was delicious. I think the prices were very reasonable as well. Can't wait to go back !

Cafe Escargot is our favourite place to go for dinner as the food is amazing. The chef is Italian, it is a very relaxed atmosphere, and it is open all day, everyday. Highly recommend as you won't be disappointed with the quality and quantity of your food.

We went as a group of 4 to the italian night about 6 months ago. The meals were beautiful and delicious. Accompanied by matching wines from a local winery. The atmosphere was very relaxing and the staff most helpful. We even received a few snails to try which weren't on the menu that night. Vincenza and Doug are a very welcoming and amazing couple and hosts. Always up for a chat. Their homemade salami is to die for. I had lunch with a girlfriend another time and it was tasty and cooked with lots of love and passion. I recommend Cafe Escargot for anyone, even as a over night stay. And no, you don't need to eat snails :-)

fantastic food, lovely service, great gluten free options - my coeliac friend had her first ever cannoli here and loved it! the snails were terrific also. well worth going a bit out of the way for.

It was a great experience having lunch at cafe escargot. Very beautiful place, delicious food and very nice and lovely owners. I tried escargot for the first time and it was really nice. I will visit this place again,very soon. Thank you for your hospitality guys.

While a little out of the way, it is only 10 minutes from town. We've been 4 times now across the last 3 years and the snails have been prepared perfectly EVERY time. Something I know other restaurants have not perfected. They are so tender as well, not like the rubbery experience of other places.
Yes they have food that doesn't involve snails. Their "tapas" is the best value!!

This is also the place to try snails if you were ever tempted, the best is ever had I think.

Excellent food, beautiful scenery, we thoroughly enjoyed our RV stay and waking up in the morning to the peaceful sounds of rural living. Great spot to look at the stars at night.

The best snail dishes I have had. Better than Paris or Sydney. We had two plates and shared. The Australian bush plants one was the better.

Great French and Italian style foods, with enough Australianised food to keep anyone happy. Great genuine hosts.

Love the escargot and the arancini! We had the escargot with creme and gnocchi (home made, yum!) and the escargot grande. The arancini was crunchy yummy cheesy goodness (vegetarian too!)

We truly enjoyed our wonderful lunch in such an amazing place and loved chatting with lovely owners.
