We regularly make pit stops here to take a break from a busy day in the city. They offer refreshing matcha drinks and desserts. We haven’t tried their savoury options yet so can’t comment on that but definitely recommend their roll cakes and drinks.

Located within Steam Mill lane. The chips & mixed matcha & hojica ice cream were amazing. The cake rolls also were tasty. Recommend the sesame & hojica flavoured rolls.

It's always a little bit busy, sometimes with a line going outside the door, but once you do get in here it's such a fun selection of items on the menu. I really love the parfaits and all the other fun, colourful desserts. The soft serve is delicious as well.

If there is a big line, I suggest visiting Kurtosh down the lane.

I would argue that this is the best Matcha cafe in Sydney. They serve the best ceremonial-grade matcha and houjicha drinks you can find. I personally love the frozen selection. I also love their desserts such as the roll cake, tiramisu and parfait although they are on the pricey side. Your paying for the high quality matcha used however. I’ve also tried the matcha cold soba noodles and they were really yummy, fresh and light! The perfect meal paired with a little mini dessert! They also sell cocktails and other great alcoholic drinks here. Highly recommend this place!

Absolutely yes to the soft serve. I prefer hojicha to matcha. Comfy seats and relaxing atmosphere

Got some sweets on a hot day in Sydney and this place hit the spot!

Shiratama azuki matcha frozen was perfect and the matcha soft serve really hit the spot! The swiss roll was ok, could have done without so much sweet stuff.

Everything came out quick and the atmosphere was great.

I've been in this small cafe a few times. I've always had hot matcha or hojicha with honey during the cold season and it just is a comfort drink. I've had some of their desserts too, like the matcha roll which is nice. They don't have plenty of seating so it can be hard but there are seats in the centre of this district where you can also go and eat/drink. Accessible from Darling Harbour and Haymarket area. I don't recommend driving as it is hard to find parking. Overall a nice cafe to have catch up with friends or a quick meal.

The hot food has finally came back to the store, there was a period where machaya only served desserts. Not sure why, but now the hot food has come back, and taste pretty good.

Been here about 5 times now and always impressed by the quality. Their matcha cake/ yuzu cake, tiramisú, cheesecake and mouse are amazing! The matcha they serve as hot drink is really nice and smooth too, same as for the Hojicha. I'm personally a Matcha girl, not a Hojicha but both didn't disappoint. I'll definitely be going there again since the quality is always great. Service wise: they can definitely do with some friendlier staff, allthough I do understand the long faces and short answers sometimes due to the busyness at this shop!
I've had dine in and take away. Their take away options are the bomb!

Matcha made in heaven 😇🍵

Had the strong green tea latte as supper for tonight. Great variety of desserts and sweets but the green tea latte is where it's at as it is not too sweet and overpowering.

Good to finish a night with something warm in my tummy 🙈

For Matcha Lovers this is your place.
Everything is made with matcha.
Obvious to say the Matcha tea itself was really good, the taste and texture of it quite nice and not too pricey.
They have a wide range of cakes, ice creams and other sweat treat, as well as some savory dishes.
Definetly a must visit if you love Matcha and all it variations!

• Its location is almost at the end of the Steam Mill La which is busy most of the time. Usually there's a queue in the evening.

• It is not really large inside but still has tables, just tight space in between. However, there are also tables outside under the cover.

• The décor is simple but elegant.

• Service is pretty efficient.

• The menu varies from sweet to savoury, from soft serve to alcohol.

• I love the fact that they serve different types of tea. You would definitely love it too if you are a matcha fan!! Their sweet serves are just so good!!

• Price is acceptable. If you find it expensive, it should be expected.

It is my favourite matcha place so far!

This Matcha place is heaven. They let you choose your own style Matcha - also in strength.
Though atmosphere in the restaurant does not seem so cool. Very crowded. Food looks good. But we did not try it.

The restaurant is located in darling square one of the newest eatery and entertainment quarters in the heart of Sydney. It’s hidden behind Chinatown near market city and next to the new ICC Sydney. It’s not overly packed but it’s not quiet either, you can got easily get a table around 6pm on a Friday night. The restaurant requires you to order at the counter and collect your food by yourself. Food comes out fast and you’ll finish your food quickly as well because the portion isn’t big but it’s decent and the food is just simply delicious. If you’re a sweet tooth you’ll definitely crave for sweets after. Recommend pork pork lovers matcha udon with cha-shu, fried lotus and tonkotsu soup then finish with dessert and drinks. If you don’t fancy lunch or dinner, Match-ya is also a good place to go for just drinks and dessert.

Review 2 - 24 October 2020:
I went back hoping to have a nice match ramen with my wife, but was disappointed when they said this dish was permanently off the menu. I am not sure why they would take it off the menu as it was one of their best. I do hope they’ll re-consider and sell it in the future. If you love Japanese drinks you will love their hojicha latte iced, it’s tea flavour is much stronger than matcha but nice.
Now that they won’t be serving matcha ramen I probably won’t be going back anytime soon, but probably once in a while for drinks and desserts only!

I came here for the Strong Matcha Latte and Ice Cream Sundae (on 2 seperate occasions) and was not disappointed both times!

The matcha was nice and strong, and the ice cream was creamy unlike some other matcha ice creams where it’s not creamy but more ice …

Highly recommend and so glad I stumbled upon this.

Also the price for the matcha sundae was $10.90 which is good value for money in my opinion. Can’t wait to come back here!! Will be back next time I am in Sydney !!

We love Matcha so we were happy to visit this place during our holiday. They have many interesting and delicious Matcha food and drinks and they have Hojicha too. In the evening around dinner time, the place can be a bit crowded, so i would recommend going earlier to catch a place.

Beautiful restaurant, colourful sweets. I feel very happy when I look at them. Each dish likes an artwork. Like it.
