I was recommended this place by someone who had a good/helpful experience. I’ve been accessing support here for years and never had a negative experience. I recommend this place to multiple other people who all see a clinician here and all are having helpful experiences. I’m a social worker, I’ve recommended this place to multiple other social workers I know, they had helpful experiences (it can be really hard accessing services when you yourself know exactly what therapeutic techniques are being used on you and you yourself know exactly what support should look like).
I’ve also attended an online group. It wasn’t for me, however there was nothing wrong with it, I just didn’t like it.
The pricing is comparable to other services of this nature. They accept mental health plans, and health insurance.
One psych I saw for years helped refer me to a GP when I was having issues with mine, they also helped me find a psychiatrist who specialises in adult ADHD, when I was seeking diagnosis and treatment.
I will continue recommending Birchtree when people ask me if I know any good psychs/counsellors.

The care at Brichtree is phenomenal, the woman behind the centre are deeply invested in the mental health of all individuals, I would highly recommend any practitioner working here.

I had such a momentous experience that taught me it gradually but steadily and reminded me of the importance of maintaining that very slow, ever-lasting mental health and overall wellbeing.

Finally, a place where I felt safe, accepted and cared for. Highly recommend Birchtree Centre, Jace is caring, intelligent and warm - everything you would want in a therapist. The extra services for Yoga and Art also provide a more holistic experience for your mind & body.

A life changing place run by someone who genuinely cares and is a great person, and this filters down through everyone who works there. A special, healing place.

Lovely little kitchenette to make tea while you wait for your appointment. All the staff are respectful and it is quiet enough during sessions.

I went to a course to learn about how trauma affects the brain and body here. It was super informative, engaging, professional and trauma informed. I have no hesitation in recommending this service.

It’s taken me a long time to get to writing this review. After many years of recovering from severe mental health issues and studying psychology myself I have come to realise that my experience at this clinic was appalling. I initially had a great experience with the therapist I was assigned to and learnt a lot yet down the line they started to place stories in my head about my childhood that was unwarranted and also claimed I was unsafe to continue living in my current situation even though I was broke, unemployed and had nowhere else to go whilst in the midst of recovering from a psychosis. I made a complaint to the director of the practice that I felt misled and unsafe from the psychologists claims and I was not treated with compassion and understanding. I asked if I could be transferred to a different clinician and she flat out said no we can’t do that. Nor did she assist with finding me a therapist elsewhere. This practice claims it is trauma informed but that was not my experience at all. To suffer mental health issues and trauma and to not be heard, to be misled when you’re vulnerable and also not supported by the director still baffles me. Be weary when accessing this clinic and their services.

Posting this review on behalf of my partner Ms Lin who has been treated by Tanuza Rahman.
We also feel like we were just passed on to whoever is available rather than suggesting a good psychologist based on what the patient needs as mentioned by some other reviews.
She made my partner feel like very disliked in their conversation and not welcomed, which is definitely not a proper thing for a psychologist to do.

Was very badly retraumatised as a result of this place. After things didn't work out with the first therapist I was assigned here, and I was offered to be put back on their wait list (which I reconfirmed had been successful) I called the other day to learn I had never been put on any of their wait lists. And that they didn't have availability to take me on, even though I had been told I was on the wait-list and had been waiting now for 2 months... It has shattered my trust in them, and further cemented my traumas around people in positions of power. The previous therapist's opinion that I wouldn't benefit from individual therapy was the only voice heard and listened to by management. There was no attempt to hear from me. They simply don't care. I have been left feeling further disempowered, this from a place preaching trauma informed practice. so much trust lost. It's easy for them to lie to you then say that's it's you not them, and put you in the too hard basket. Horrible horrible horrible, retraumatising place.

I had a terrible experience at the Birchtree Centre. I arrived for my first appointment feeling really terrified after trying to process trauma in a private clinic with staff who had no idea what they were doing. I just needed compassionate support The therapist they gave me showed no empathy at all, had a blank, straight face despite me being in terror and gave nothing of herself. She sat there in silence and did not offer any genuine compassion or warmth. I left the appointment and let the psychologist know that I was not in any danger and paid her via internet banking. Her main concern was that I had left without paying, rather than how I was. The yoga therapist was fortunately caring and helpful. Thank god for her.
The most terrible part was the treatment I received by the director, Jace. She refused to let me make an appointment with a different therapist at the centre and then also refused to let the yoga therapist see me on the premises! despite her being happy to work with me and stating that she didn't understand the directors decision. Jace would not discuss her decision with me and treated me like toxic waste! She did not refer me to other supports. It caused me a great deal of shame and anger at a time when I needed compassion and empathy. I hadn't done anything wrong. I was Just frightened!
This is disgusting behaviour from a supposed 'centre of excellence for trauma' that ironically has no idea how to treat trauma and by way of rejection, lack of empathy and lack of expertise, end up causing further trauma. Shame on them. In reply to their response....they are more than capable of addressing my needs. I just needed an empathetic therapist. Not the one they gave me. This is an all too common case of traumatised people ill advisedly becoming therapists and hurting others.

Below average! I felt as though I was just passed around to the next available therapist rather than looking at me as an individual.

Enrolment notes obviously weren’t read so no basic knowledge of why I was there. This was frustrating as I waited six months to get in to see someone.

Expensive and no follow up care.

Would not recommend this place, overpriced and the content for there Trauma support group ,you can get off YouTube/Google . Very simple education , from someone that has done DBT, CBT,Schema and Act and have done the clinical Side of Act, Motivation Interviewing . There are alot more groups that are beneficial . RPA and Hills Clinic . If you like to pay Ludacris amount of $ for talk based groups/ thearpy plus the simple clinical notes the educators provide then go for it .The rule around having your camera is another winge on my front. This place is full of hype . I found it wasn't for me .
