Mary's Newtown

Ugh. Mary’s’ “Mary’s Burger” is literally the best burger I’ve had in my life. And I’m not even exaggerating. The meat was perfectly cooked and the cheese went so well with the whole burger, I can’t even explain how good it was. The fries were also some of the best fries I’ve ever had, seasoned perfectly and hot and crispy, not soggy at all. Totally recommend! The atmosphere and vibes were great too, along with the service. ALSO!! you NEED to try the hot margarita. It was amazing. A bit pricey but very good.

Dropped in for a few* beers on a Friday night and due to the excellent service from Kate we ended up staying for a few* more. Cool

Went on a bit of a personal pub crawl around Newtown. Found Mary's on Google Maps. What a great place. Delicious cocktails and superb staff. Big shout out to Kate, who was gracious and entertaining.

Had a great experience at Mary's Burger in Newton! Tried the Vegan Cheese Burger and Vegan Double Burger—both were amazing. Loved the vibrant vibe, and the food arrived surprisingly quickly. Keep in mind, though, that parking can be a challenge over the weekend. Overall, a tasty spot with a fantastic atmosphere!

Mary’s is a super sick, hidden bar in the middle of Newtown. The walls are covered in graffiti and the vibes are on point. The food is amazing and the staff are great. Will definitely be coming back very soon… 10/10

Great burgers and service (vegan burger was SUPER delicious). Atmosphere was good but the music was a bit too loud for my taste, but I guess that is part of the unique experience in this old church!

Amazing vegetarian and vegan burgers ! Place has a very cool vibe with an amazing team ! It's a hidden cafe, so you might find it but difficult to find it, but it's a gem !

Rock/metal music focused burger place, with great selections of beer. Friend’s all time favorite is their mushroom burger here and I ordered the half chicken 🐔which is surprisingly good with a smokey flavor to it.

I love burgers. Eat them all the time, try different burger places all the time, and wow. This burger is one of those that I become completely obsessed about for a month, and that I never forget for the rest of my life. It is hands down one of the best burgers I've ever eaten — few joints in Sydney (or anywhere else) have gotten that reaction from me — and I'd wager it's almost all in the patty: not dry, but not unpleasantly greasy or sopping wet either. Not overworked, the patty doesn't have any chewiness or springy texture to it. And a nice, beautiful outer layer of crispness. The other parts of the ensemble of the burger did their job exactly as they needed to: a nice toasted brioche bun, lettuce was nice and crisp, the tomatoes were juicy, and the sauce was applied generously but not to the point of drowning anything else. I don't have anything else to say about anything else I had — I was too stunned by the burger. I'll be back here again soon...

The theme(?) was a bit over the top and goofy though lmao. Not for me, but didn't detract from what was something of a spiritual experience for me.

Finally tried their burgers after 8 yrs in Sydney and they ARE GOOD

Such a great spot for both food and drinks. The chicken and burgers are delicious, there's a great selection of beers, and the atmosphere is awesome. The horror theme makes it a really unique place to visit. The staff are all super friendly and fun. I can't wait to visit again.

Marys is an anti-vibe bar and burgers. The place is dark and gothic rather than cozy, but that is their selling point. The staff is friendly even tho the bar has a dark vibe. The burger its very nice. Surprisingly, i, who is hated vegetarian vegan and mostly meat lovers, love their vegetarian burger better then the meat one. Doesn't mean the meat is not nice its delicious too but mushrooms burger was delightful! ah and i like their fried culliflower !!!

The place looked super dingy and I had difficulty finding it until I saw the pictures on google. I’m excited that I did try to visit!! Food is amazing.

The bar downstairs is self service and you can order At the bar. For table service head up the staircase at the back and someone will bring you to a table. The menu is on the walls.

Please get the Mary’s burger and add the trashcan bacon. The best combination ever. Juicy patty with amazing oozy cheese intertwined in it. The bun is great and the vegetables are fresh and refreshing.

The fries are like frozen ones but quite nice for the ones who are kind of soggy.

My husband tried the half bird - the fried chicken was rather juicy and had a nicely fried batter. The flavor of the batter could be better though.

I really enjoyed the hipster vibe and loved the food. The volume wasn’t too loud for me at 7 in the evening. Definitely can’t wait to visit again!

Had heard about this place but didn't have a chance to visit until recently. Loved the ambience and the vibe though appreciate it may be off putting to some. We had the Marys Burger and fried chicken. Both at reasonable prices and delicious. The burger is simple and classic, great quality beef and milk bun. The chicken was crispy on the outside and moist inside. Fries weren't the best but they were still good.

A very unique place and variety of nice beers. Food was very good. Friendly staff.

The double veg mushroom burger is amazing and delicious despite it not being deep fried etc., shoestring fries are done really well too.

The cheeseburgers are amazing. The mash and gravy is too. Great funky heavy noisy vibe. Loved it. End of story.
