Imagine the world ended from a nuclear war in 1957. Only spooky remnants of the abandoned old world remain. Shops are frozen in time, candies, decorations, and furniture from a forgotten past are left to rot and succumb to the elements for decades. The candy bars have long been eaten by cockroaches and only roach droppings remain in the empty cardboard boxes. Electricity was a thing of the past. There is only darkness now. Then, somehow miraculously from the darkness, a small bitter, barely comprehensible old man with metallic teeth and a large growth on his head impolitely asks you what you want. This is milk bar. How it remains an operational business is of the great mysteries of our time.

Ps, don't try and make any chit chat or take any photos of the shop or old man. He will have none of it my friend. Enjoy your milk shake.

I have been going to this milk bar for 3 years now, and I enjoyed every single moment of entering it. The proprietor of the milk bar, is an extremely nice man, and he would take his time, to listen to what you want to order. He is very patient indeed. It's a real shame that I live far away from the milk bar, making it difficult for me to visit it more frequently. I always go there for a cold vanilla milkshake, and grilled cheese sandwiches! Please visit this milk bar, it is rare for a business like it, to still be standing today, with the similar shopfront and interiors, dating back to the 1960's, as well as having the same owner!

Ignore the darkness of the void before you and the occasional shouts from within. Once entering the milk bar you are met with an array of sweet boxes not updated since the 1940, as if you have crossed into another era. Order your cheese on toast and chocolate milk shake at the bar and take a seat in the adorable vintage interior. The food is quite tasty and the milkshakes quench the hearty thirst built up with the long walk along Paramatta road. Don't be scared to enter. No photos and no questions, the oner will not appreciate it.

From the outside the Olympia Milk Bar looks almost as scary as the inside, step inside and you will feel a cold creeping mist grasping at your feet and a feeling of dread consume you until you feel your very soul is being torn from your body. And then, from the darkness at the back of the shop, you may, or may not be lucky enough to catch a glimps of the proprietor lurking in the shadows, looking like a cross between Lurch from the Addams Family and the creepy Priest from Poltergeist 2 ... will you be tempted by the out of date chocolates from one of the many dusty boxes that line the walls, or will you throw caution to the wind and sample something off the menu ... with only 1 fluorescent strip light in the whole shop and the feeling that the whole establishment is about to be swallowed up by the opening of the gates of Hell, the interior can only be described as like a "Crumbling Mortuary" ... I gave it 5 Stars, not for any other reason, than it needs to be seen in person to be really appreciated.

Some have said that the shop remains open as the dying wish of the old mans long gone brother. Others say it's a front for an underground drug lab. Creepy as hell. 5 stars.

Sadly closed but a great memory from my childhood when my family would visit here when going to the cinemas which also closed many years ago.

The owner from all those years ago can occasionally still be seen in his store sitting up the back.

Save the milk bar. Been there once. Such a blast from the past with the old fashioned service. The posters are amazing. 5 stars for this old chook.

Haven't been there, but judging from how it looks walking past I'm pretty sure this is a gateway to an alternate dimension. Five stars

This place has been in business since my mother was a 10 year old girl that used to get a milkshake after going to the "Rolla Rink" that used to be just up the road...she is now 60 :P

Worth a visit. Still has original 1939 interior decor which is amazing to see (even though mostly decrepit).

So amazingly creepy from the outside to the inside. It's like there's a black hole guarding the time and space there. Awesome!

You need to come here at least once.

It's like a portal to the past.
