Top quality gear and service, reasonably priced. Easily the best surf shop in Perth. I’ve been a customer for nearly 20 years - just back today and I can’t believe Ross is still delivering the goods.

First ventured in circa 2008, in that time I’ve bought a good few second hand boards as well as having Ross fashion me two very nice custom boards (both modelled after older boards I’d bought from him before), both boards have had years of abuse from myself and friends and circumnavigated Oz a couple of times. I’ve also had numerous ding repairs from Ross and his employees and they’re always flawless, there’s a reason he’s always so busy. I move a lot with work internationally and can’t think of many establishments I’ve been to that are truer to the game than Mr. Rutherford’s shop. The coffee is brilliant and so is the wisdom, 5 stars all round. The carpark out the back is also great for a skate and a few tunes on the Gatorade saxophone.

Have had a number of great interactions at this shop, and just had a super professionally done repair on the nose of my board with a matched paint job so that you could not even tell it was ever damaged. Even got it done quicker than initially said (leaving for a trip so asked if an earlier completion was possible), without any compromise on quality. If you need any repairs, Ross is the go to guy!

Ross did an awesome job on my custom 9’4” Royale, with a lot of care and quality, and putting in a lot of additional hours in the past week to get my board ready for an upcoming trip, and I am so stoked he did! The board rides so well! Ross also did a great job colour matching a fin box repair on a magenta vintage 6’0”. Would highly recommend Ross for any custom board work and repairs for sure! Ross has shaped some boards for our family in the last few years and they are now our absolute favourites! I actually always preferentially surf my Ross custom. He has also done an excellent job with our repairs- they’ve been well-priced and colour matched when needed.

I have been going to Soul Boardstore for over 20 years for all my surfing needs and never been disappointed. I’ve bought many boards and accessories and had many ding repairs done. This year I had the experience of having my first custom board, a 7’6” mid length, made by Ross. It was very rewarding from the drawing stage through to picking up the finished product. Ross has repaired a few boards for me and always does a super professional job - he gives a clear indication of how long it’ll take (he throws a sign up if he is too busy and won’t take extra work if it means you won’t get your board back in a decent time frame).
Ross has also been super helpful in getting new fins for any new mid-lengths or longboards that I’ve picked up (including adding fin boxes to a single fin I bought so it could be run as a 2+1 widowmaker setup).
He has some cool boards for sale (combo of hand shaped, ‘pop outs’ and soft tops, and second hand boards.
Ross also makes one of the best coffees on the coast!

One of the last real surf shop with one of the last real craftsman in the industry. Ross is a absolute legend to deal with and has always delivered my new boards and repairs to a first class standard. I've had two longboards made by Ross. One for me about 7 years ago and one for my son about 4 years ago. Both boards are excellent and still going strong. Love his work and the shop has a nice cool vibe to it.

I've been dropping by Soul Boardstore for close to ten years and have always experienced great service. Ross repaired a delaminated board for me and the quality of the repair was way beyond my expectations. I'm now using a custom Ross Rutherford board and it's a beauty!

Great service, super helpful and just a really nice shop. Despite being a family of surf novices, my son wants a board for his birthday. I did a bit of research and visited all the local surf shops in the area. Ross was by far the most helpful. He went beyond what I'd call normal shop service and made the purchase of our very first board a pleasure. Highly recommend Soul Boardstore. We'll be back when the nippers ready for an upgrade :)

One of the last of the “real” surf shops in Perth metro. Nothing better than the smell of resin as you enter a board stores. Wide range of boards from world class shapers, as well as hand made customs from Ross himself. Also my number one recommendation for repairs.

I shape boards myself, however Ross is the only person I'll still happily pay to shape a board for me. He made me custom 9'6 noserider which is a work of art. A true master of the craft with many years experience.

My favourite surf shop Ross always has a great selection of boards and if he has not got what you want can make you one. Can even get a coffee 😎 brewed onsite ☑. I have bought and sold many boards here and will be back

Authenticity drips from the ceilings of this place. Ross is an absolute legend and always happy to put down his shaping tools and have a chin wag. He makes a mean sled and nice flat white.
