Ettrick Conservation Park

The northern entrance is at the intersection of Glenburr and Native Veg roads. Did not look pronising. It was low mallee, recently burned. Whatever soil there was before has been washed or blown away from the limestone bedrock.. We drove in looking for a carpark, stopping in front of a low dune that runs across the park, now planted with a variety of wattles to the east.
It is a lot healthier mallee here with trees, shrubs and rich undergrowth on patches of red dirt.
Winter days are short and after a short walk around we had to leave.
The is a low native pine forest on the west side of the park and another entry, we have to return another time to have a look.

Edit: We came back and drove through the park, starting from the Grenburr Road entrance. Stopped at the ruins and continued turning to the westward track back to Boundary road. The tracks are narrow at places and a bit rough but flat.

Good park to look for birds and flowers .Drove the car in but parked when it got too narrow. Had a good walk around and found some greenhoods . Will be interesting in Spring to see more flowers.
