We had so much fun with the robot and the server name Patricia, she was so nice and very energetic. Service was so good and the food as well. Very fresh sushi and sashimi. Highly recommended.

Delicious!! Sashimi was so fresh, salmon cooked to perfection and the sushi boats were an experience! Service was incredibly fast. My friend and I shared wine, four entrees, a main and a dessert and it was heaps of food. Everyone was just so lovely - a very bright, fast and fun spot. Can’t wait to eat here again!

We recently tried Matsumoto on Lygon St that specialises in traditional Sushi & Sashimi Boats & Japanese food.
Fresh sashimi, lightly battered tempura - staff were very friendly and there's a cute robot AI waiter. Will definitely return next time to try their famous sushi Sashimi boat.

Loving the sushi boat @matsumotojapanese. Everything was fresh and top quality 🤤 And look at those nigiri, love that the big/long slice of raw fish draped over the rice👌🏻They also have the robot waiter which I thought was cute and different.

We ordered:
- Deluxe House Special (small serves 2-3 people)
- Tempura
- Japanese soda aka Ramune

The tempura was yum light and crispy. The Boat when you look at it doesn’t seem too much but once you start eating, it actually decent amount. We both were really full after demolishing the boat.

A cozy Japanese restaurant with extensive menu. I’m so glad I found this place as I’ve been craving for Takoyaki for years. The seafood were fresh and delicious. Everything that we ordered come out quick and live up to my expectations for Japanese food.

The staff were friendly and helpful, they’re also quick on feet and polite service. We’re very happy with the service and overall experience. Will come again for my Takoyaki craving.

Nice place for sashimi. We had a large sushi boat between us 2. Had a good variety of fish and was fresh.

Very cute restaurant, and the food was amazing. The best part was the robot that brought the food to the table, which has cat features too! 😀 I highly recommend taking kids here!

Placed a takeaway order for the Nigiri Sushi Platter (50pc) and Sushi Combo for two and the fish was very fresh and the presentation looked amazing! The staff at restaurant were super helpful and friendly and made the ordering experience very pleasant so I’m very grateful. Feel like the sushi was very authentic to Japanese cuisine as well. 5⭐

Matsumoto has been a regular go to Japanese restaurant over many years. The food is good, especially their sashimi boat. Service is friendly. Also a couple of cute robots that deliver food to your table. Bookings recommend as can get quite busy.

Inviting Japanese eatery offering a good selection of dishes. We tried several on the day - fried soft shell crab, yakiniku don, seafood teppanyaki medley and a signature Deluxe House sushi boat. Dishes were all very tasty, ingredients fresh and portions generous. Restaurant was fairly busy, but the staff were attentive and service generally quick. Decor was modern and comfortable for a conversation. Definitely a thumbs up experience!

I cant believe it’s been 8 years since I’ve visited Mastumoto Japanese restaurant in Brunswick 😊 It’s so nice to know that they’re still doing well after 17 years of being in business.
We went for lunch on Saturday and decided to go for the Chef’s banquet with 7 courses plus coffee/tea. There were too many items on the menu we wanted to try so this was the best option for us and it was such good value at $58 per person.

The banquet started off with miso soup which had so much tofu in it, followed by a tobiko salad who doesn’t have crab meat and kewpie mayo! Next up with a sushi and sashimi platter which included a grilled salmon sushi and also scallop sushi. We washed the first 3 courses of our banquet down with a premixed Koyomi High ball – Yuzi and Lime flavour perfect for a warm day and I’m going to get some for my Christmas party in a few weeks.
Moving onto the next course which was fried oyster, even though I’m not usually a big fan of oysters that are cooked, this completely blew my boyfriends mind and was so creamy! There’s no stopping with the food, it’s then onto the Teppanyaki grilled prawns with bean shoots.

There is then a short break while our lovely waiter cooks our beef sukiyaki in front of us, he was so patient and knew exactly how to cook everything to perfection. He recommended that the wagyu beef be cooked medium rare and dipped in the raw egg before we ate it. Best recommendation ever!

Finally after all that food we only had 1 course left which was dessert! My favourite Green tea ice-cream with red bean paste and also a fruit platter.

I just wished Mastumoto was a little closer to me, because I would come here all the time, it’s the perfect gem to have in a local area. Perfect for meals with families or a large group of friends 😊

Food are delicious and service is great. We had our business lunch today. Wide spacing between each table. Will definitely go again.

I was here for Mother’s Day with my family and we were in for a real treat. The atmosphere and decor is minimalist and tasteful. There is much to select from in the menu with all your traditional Japanese dishes. I went with the seafood teppanyki, the amount was seafood was impressive and soft and delicate. What I loved about this dish was it was tasted so fresh and clean - it wasn’t slathered in sauce. The wine and beer was also great and excellent value. We were delighted by a glass of sparking wine for my mother to top off an excellent afternoon!

Generally love this place but the tuna wasn't the best. The sashimi was super. Seafood bento was so good. Gyoza dumplings were delicious but too salty. We have been here so many time and still enjoy our meals here.

Staff were attentive (both human and robot), with ample options on the menu I had no complaints.
Decided on the sushi boat and sailed my way into a food coma!

Awesome food prepared by a very experienced Japanese chef.

Reasonable pricing to suit a family budget. Great bang for buck. We will be back for more.

The restaurant looked way better than the impression I received from reading some of the other reviews. The miso soup was done just right and was not salty like other places or worse still bland. The Bento Box was probably 4.5 stars out of 5 as the Nigiri was not as nice as what it could have been and the soy sauce was rather weak.
