A/Prof Alex Polyakov

In February, I discovered a large lump on my belly when I lay flat. It was as big as an apple and as hard as a rock, which shocked me. I booked an appointment with my GP immediately, who then referred me to Dr. Alex. I was quite worried about my English since it's my second language and I never see specialists in Australia at that time.

Upon meeting Dr. Alex for the first time, I found him to be a bit rigorous, but he demonstrated a high level of professionalism. (He is actually a very kind doctor. He likes people to come with prepared questions, He gives short answers, but all on points.) He administered an injection called Zoladex and informed me that I might need open surgery to remove the large fibroid and several smaller ones if they didn’t shrink after the injection.

After two sessions of Zoladex, I could feel that the fibroids had shrunk by at least 50%. Ultimately, I had keyhole surgery (laparoscopy). Dr. Alex successfully removed all the fibroids on May 7th. Remarkably, just four days after the surgery, I was able to walk nearly 3 kilometers in the botanical garden. My recovery has been amazing—I was able to return to work full-time by the second week with no issues at all.

Dr. Alex did an incredible job, and the incisions are so small they can be easily covered by underwear. I am extremely grateful and happy with the results.

Additionally, I want to give a big shoutout to the practice manager, Debra. She is incredibly patient and lovely, always easy to talk to, and she answered all my questions. Debra also provided clear explanations about the fee breakdowns and insurance. I feel very fortunate to have met such amazing people.

I felt 100% safe, secure, and happy throughout my experience. Thanks again, Dr. Alex and Debra!

Dr Polyakov’s medical knowledge knows no bounds. Dr Polyakov was our obstetrician for our first baby. Getting pregnant for the first time can be a daunting process for both the mother and father, however each time we saw Dr Polyakov for our regular check ups, he was always very calm, always re-assured us everything was going well and made us feel like we were his only patients. He was available for phone calls, even for the most simple of queries/concerns, and never made my wife and I feel like we were asking too much. I cannot recommend Dr Polyakov more. We are fortunate to find Dr.Alex Polyakov to go through the IVF process post struggling to have our first kid for 4 years. Alex guided and supported us through the process with his calm and composed attitude that helped us to get off our nerves through the journey. Dr Polyakov is undoubtedly the best doctor out there. He delivered my first baby via c-section and I could not recommend him more. Him and his team provided ongoing support and care throughout my entire pregnancy. My C-section was incredibly smooth and I had a very easy recovery no doubt because of Dr Polyakov’s care. Dr Polyakov is compassionate and caring and provides a high level of professionalism and an immense amount of knowledge. We are very grateful to have been under Dr Polyakov’s care.

Dr Alex was fantastic throughout my IVF treatment, which also involved genetic testing. He provided all of the need to know information at each appointment and explained everything on the screen during scans. He is very clearly confident and knowledgeable in his field which then translates to you as the patient. Thanks to Alex I am now pregnant and wouldn’t hesitate to turn to him again if we choose to have another baby in the future.

I had been with another IVF clinic before joining Dr Polyakov and Melbourne IVF. I moved as I felt I had no personal service and was just a number. I never seen the same nurse or doctor in all my cycles. We then decided to change and my GP recommended Alex. I have to say my experience was literally night and day! When I met Alex he told me he would do all my scans, collections and transfers and he did! The whole process was 1000 times less stressful. Which I firmly believe has led to our success! Alex is personable, he is efficient, he works on his days off, he responds to out of hours messages. Quite simply he is amazing. I trust his advice and he truly wants the best for his patients. Never sent me on a wild goose chase or some ridiculously expensive drug that just wouldn't work. I would highly recommend Alex whichever clinic he is with. Debra in his support team is equally amazing. She again responds out of hours when results are in. Emails for booking appointments which saves lengthy phone time whilst working and again is super caring. Do yourself a favour and switch to this team. The fact you get to see Alex 4 or 5 times through your cycle makes all the difference rather than fighting to speak to your specialist over a million phone calls whilst juggling your job. My wife and I have seen suffered from infertility for years(due to genetic analysis). Dr Polyakov has found the cause for us in late 2022, we began the IVF process as he recommended. Dr Polyakov and his team are amazing, they are very professional and thoughtful. Our success is the result of their hard works(and God's Blessing). We will be grateful for the rest of our lives. We become patients of Dr Alex Polyakov after encountering fertility issues. After completing the laparoscopy, the first round of IVF with Dr Polyakov, we were thrilled to learn the pregnancy news. We continued the obstetric services with Dr Alex Polyakov; the boy was delivered two weeks ago. The planned c-section was done with the utmost skills.

Dr Alex and his team have been wonderful in helping me with my Fibroids removal surgery. I recently had multiple fibroids removed via Laparoscopy and Dr Alex did a wonderful job performing my surgery which was a success. I highly recommend him to women who have fibroids and want to preserve their uterus. Thank you Dr Alex, I will definitely come back to you when I plan on having a baby. :)

We had A/Prof Alex Polyakov as our IVF fertility specialist and also obstetrician with a Caesarian delivery at Epworth Freemasons.

I cannot speak highly enough about our experience. All process from day one was smooth and reassuring, making us confident, hopeful and truly cared for. We had regular check-ups and combined medical decisions from the IVF steps to the method of delivery.

His office staff (two amazing secretaries!) were also always efficient and available to answer questions, address concerns and provide support!

He is a phenomenal specialist and I would recommend him to anyone that is looking for a doctor who combines expertise with a genuine care for their patients!

Was very happy to have Dr. Alex Polyakov as my doctor throughout my pregnancy. The whole team at Dr Polaycov Rooms were incredible including Naomi, Debra (was always welcomed with a smile and genuineness a big mention to Midwife Jannette who worked alongside Alex. I’m very glad that I chose Dr Alex Polyakov for my pregnancy journey. It’s not that easy to find a good specialist whom you can trust not only your life but life of your baby. I want to note a high professionalism of the entire Epworth Freemasons team who assisted Dr Polyakov during my C-section (by the way, the C-section scar looks just perfect, almost invisible. Dr Polyakov has the highest level of surgical skills). I should say that I had a pregnancy with complications, I went to different hospitals and had appointments with different doctors, but I was able to get a peace of mind only after seeing Dr Alex. I’m so impressed with how confident he is (he is quite straightforward and tells you right away if something wrong, no sugarcoating). One more thing which me and my husband noticed - Dr Alex Polyakov is very punctual (all our appointments were right on time).

I had two great experiences with Dr. Polyakov. He was the doctor on call with our first, who ended up being an emergency c-section. Throughout my labour Dr. Polyakov was very calm, honest, and professional. He did a great job assessing the situation, which made me accept and feel very comfortable with the end result. My experience with our first baby was so good that we opted to seek out Dr. Polyakov to be our OBGYN for our second baby. We ended up having our children very close together (13 months). Dr. Polyakov was always positive and professional and with this in mind. Our second baby was delivered via elective c-section, which was entirely our choice and fully supported by Dr. Polyakov. Both the surgery and recovery went really well. Couldn’t be happier about how the c-section scar has healed and turned out. We highly recommend Dr. Polyakov. You will feel very welcomed and supportive from the moment you walk in his office. The reception staff - Debra and Naomi - are very welcoming, friendly, caring, and helpful which adds to the overall pleasant experience and great care we had during the second pregnancy. Dr. Polyakov and his staff also display the cards and photos they receive from patients, which is a testament to the great work and environment you will receive there.

It’s taken me a long time to write a review because I was struggling with what to write.

The journey through IVF is one filled with uncertainty and emotion, and at every step Dr Polyakov balanced giving us the best possible information (good or otherwise) all the while being mindful and compassionate towards us as we navigated the unknown.

He and his team made it a little easier to have hope and we trusted him fully throughout.

I cannot recommend Dr Polyakov and his team highly enough. Dr Polyakov is a great doctor who is very knowledgeable, and I am so thankful he was able to assist me through my journey. The ladies at reception were so lovely and always accommodating.

They made a challenging situation a little brighter and less daunting.
