African Taste Cafe

The most delish food! The crumbed cauliflower, beef samosas, chicken fufu and lamb baeg tibes are staples for us, so so good and unlike anything else we've tried in the west. And the owners are just lovely. Can't recommend more highly!

The owner here is incredibly warm and friendly, and the food is simply delicious - it feels like homemade goodness.

This restaurant is hands down one of the best in Melbourne! The food is so reasonably priced, the serving sizes leave you stuffed and nothing compares to the wonderful people who run it. The African gnocchi is out of this world, as are all of their dishes. Do yourself a favor and eat here - your taste buds and tummy will thank you for it!

Have now dined here on two separate occasions. Cauliflower is a great entree. Gnocchi with chicken is a must - you will be very satisfied in the taste and how full you are!

Ethiopian beer and wine at extremely reasonable prices. Highly recommend the Ethiopian lager - $6.

Wife and husband who run the restaurant are extremely friendly and happy to recommend a meal that will suit what you are after.

Delicious meal, just the right amount of spice, wonderful service. If I lived nearby I’d be here all the time.

It took us a year of living in the area before we visited. Regret missing out that year. Cauliflower for entree and either lamb tibs, fufu or tasting plate for dinner. Injera is always fresh.
We no longer live close by, but we still venture out to eat at African Taste whenever we can. We tried the lamb fufu for the first time and it was as good as the chicken one!

The injeri bread was magnificent. They deserved my 5.00 tip. Hate when other restaurant offered it on their eftpos machines. Tips are earnt not asked for.

African Taste has been consistently good for well over a decade. I have never regretted ordering it, except sometimes that I should have got more cramped cauliflower or fufu. It's so delicious and great value.

We had a wonderful experience tonight, we dined in. 2 Kids and one adult, our waitress was very attentive and friendly. The food was beautiful and fresh, we will be back. Everything was perfect, thank you.

We hadn’t been back to African Taste for a while and we’re so glad we broke the drought tonight. Table service was excellent by the young waiter, very good job! The food was as excellent as I remembered. We had African enchilada which came with a salad and Genfo African Fufu with cheese and spinach, all mopped up with delicious tangy spongy injera bread. Can’t wait to go back!

Delicious and very well priced food. I particularly enjoyed the gnocchi. Everything is so flavourful and moreish. Friendly and thoughtful staff in a lovely, warm and inviting establishment. I will not hesitate to come here again!
