Amazing Birthday dinner.
The highlight was not only the food but the staff.
The cooks got the food out incredibly fast and the waitress checked up on us (not too pushy asking constantly and just enough so we felt like we could ask for anything anytime).
Will definitely return.

As quirky as the name is, the food is anything but. I've always wanted to try this place, and I finally found the opportunity to see for myself if this place was worth it. I'm happy to say that it was.

I and my friend ordered the Veg Dum Biryani (Basmati rice casserole, flavoured with spices, saffron and rose water served with raita, $21 per plate) for takeaway. From the outside it looked just like any other vegetable biryani but when I dug into it, I could immediately taste the difference, and the superiority of this one over others. It was delicious, spicy and full of veggies, which ticked off all my boxes. It wasn't very oily, which was a plus. The raita was fine, I've had much better ones (make one better myself), but overall I was very satisfied with the food.

The restaurant looked a bit traditional from the outside but inside was a different story. With lavish red decor, coziness was oozing from this place, and although we had a takeaway, I'd very much like to dine here. The staff seemed alright to me. This restaurant was a good find!

We had been to Gaylord restaurant for our second year anniversary and we had a wonderful time. We enjoyed the ambience, slow soothing music and most importantly the food. Me and my wife loved the taste and presentation of the food, we had ordered Afghani soya chaap, Butter chicken, garlic naan with zaatar and biryani. We ordered guava mojito and blue lagoon drink as well.
Our anniversary was memorable, we both loved the flavours and spices in the food. Overall, it was an experience to remember ☺

Amazing food and service. The fish curry was incredible. The portions are so generous, we could not finish everything and were welcomed to take the rest home for an extra meal! 10/10 will return

Gaylord Indian Restaurant is amazing. The food is wonderfully authentic and so good. We came from the UK where Indian food was weekend favourite, in over 20 years we have tried many places, this is the best. We will go back as the good was delicious.

We enjoyed a delicious meal. The flavours were outstanding. A well priced 3 course lunch including drinks in a comfortable relaxed setting.

Absolutely amazing experience at Gaylord Indian Restaurant. To begin with the decor and ambience; It had a really casual yet neat vibe. Service was incredible with excellent staff welcoming us and checking on us throughout the night. Drinks were lovely and refreshing and had excellent presentation. Food was to-die-for and the presentation was superb. Would extremely recommend trying Gaylord's as it is a restaurant that I would absolutely return to.

Wow!! Absolutely wonderful evening spent at Gaylord. Beautiful decor and comfortable atmosphere. Our waitress was extremely attentive. She explained dishes to us that we hadn't tried before and modified portion sizes so that we could all share a few different entrees. The food was soooo delicious, amazing flavours and quality throughout. The chef provided extra lamb cutlets as our waitress told us he thought they were too small to serve the usual number. The lamb rogan was so tender it just fell apart. Naan bread filled with flavour and cooked perfectly. Would definitely recommend this restaurant and will go again ourselves next time we visit Melbourne. Thank you for a wonderful experience 🥰

A 2 min walk from Southern Cross, this restaurant is located at this really magnificent building. The ambience is wonderful, really gives a warm Indian feel. The food is yummm. Highly recommend the Kasundi fish entree. The service is prompt and top notch. The servers are polite and help you with the menu. Would definitely be visiting again!

Great option for an Indian meal in this end of the city. BYO for $12 too.

Located in the Grand hotel the restaurant has a good ambience. When entering the place I felt like I am going to back in time. The place and the decor are beautiful.

The menu is adequate and the staff members are very helpful.Orderd a 4 course meal and the waiter explained the menu and offerd some good recommendations. Enjoyed all the dishes and the food was lovely.

This was just the place for a family dinner during one of our far-too-infrequent visits to Melbourne. The restrained opulence of the decor put us in the mood for something good. And it was.

Each dish was distinct and well-crafted. Full of the aromas and flavours of India with the perfect balance of spices. The kitchen made the vegetarian dishes every bit as flavoursome as meat. As a result we didn’t eat much meat; which has got to be good for us all.

Good quality food, niche menu. Friendly service with a casual atmosphere. Dungaar chicken for entrees was really good, Kolhapuri chicken for mains had good flavour but the heat could be more, the chicken biryani cooked three ways was unique and very flavoursome. The best was saved for the last with the paan ice cream, I’d go back just to have that.

We found the food delicious, the staff very attentive and the atmosphere pleasant. It was a great dining experience to cap off a busy day of touring. Servings were generous and left us with enough to take home for another meal. Would recommend.

Bottomless brunch experience was amazing. Food was great, loved the prawns and lamb rogan josh. Unlimited drinks and cocktails were icing on the cake. My 2nd visit to this joint, they never disappoint

Other than the atmosphere and history of grand hotel and Gaylord, DJ and Raj take personal pride in serving their customers the menu is carefully curated to satisfy your pallette and transports you back to india. Everything we tried kali mirch Murgh, paneer tikka masala were bang on. We tried the paan kulfi on their recommendation and it was beautifully presented and the best one he had. Couldn’t have asked for a better dinner experience🎉🎉🎉

All that a restaurant needs is a good tasty food and Gaylord is best at it, visited twice during my Melbourne tour, the ambience is pleasant. Staff were courteous. Overall satisfied with the service

Highly recommend!! I had an awesome birthday party at the restaurant and the food is always amazing and happily adjusted the menu with all the dietary requirements 😍 very friendly staff and many thanks to Raj and Sunny!!
