Cafe Excello

Take a little step back in time to the seventies in this old school cafe. It gets quite busy here, the coffee is good, the food is also very good, it's not modernised but it's always been good and week portioned. The decor is also from the seventies, and so are most of the workers here!! - and that's why people come back. Give it a try.

Great breakfast options.
Very affordable. Most breakfast plates are less than $20 which is something rare in Melbourne now.
The fresh orange juice was also amazing.
Portion sizes were large. The food was tasty.

We stayed at the Sofitel around the corner and each time we walked past here, we could see how popular this cafe was and had to see for ourselves. I'm so glad we did. The staff are very friendly, the coffee is perfect and the breakfast portions are very generous. I'd expect to pay a lot more for my big breakfast in any other cafe in the CBD. We both had a perfect breakfast and left quite satisfied.

Always enjoy having a bacon and egg sandwich with Vegemite here.
Quick breakfast for a day full of meetings.
The staff are always happy to see you, and the service is great.
I’m not a regular, but I do enjoy watching the relationship the staff have with some of their regulars.

Service was very friendly.
Coffee is one of the best I've had in CBD area.

Their menu selection is not that much, mostly covers your standard breakfast/brunch items.
However all the dishes we ordered were very enjoyable 👍
Their fried eggs were nicely done, egg yolk still running and the whites are perfectly cooked.
Bacons were perfectly fried too 😋
And their warm Chicken Salad tastes way better than it sounds.

Will definitely return to try other stuff 😸

I've been here a few times now, I really love the meals and atmosphere. I often see office blokes going for a proper full, affordable breakfast here.

I love to share the pancakes, they give you a pretty damn good amount for the cost. It's also in a really beautiful area of the city, just outside parliament station.

Embarrassingly, the first time I went I forgot to pay, because I'd gotten so used to paying before eating at fast food places and through QR codes. But the lady who served us chased us down and we got it all sorted out. She was very understanding and friendly.

A cozy cafe with excellent service and amazing food. A great stop on the way to the Parliament or other nearby attractions. I was blown away by the cafe’s affordable prices and high quality.

We had excellent service and breakfast here prior to heading out on a day tour. Had the hot chocolate that is made with milk and the French toast and that was made perfectly. Service was very good too.

This place has become my favourite Melbourne cafe and where I always go for at least 1 breakfast when I'm visiting Melbourne. It's old school charm and amazing staff always make us feel like locals and they have the best value breakfast in the city by far. The big breakfast is my perfect breakfast and at $20 is a steal.

Two visits to this place so far and both positive.
Open on weekends, in the top end of town.
Impressive menu array.
Has a New York style diner vibe about it.

Food:
Zucchini slice: very fresh and tasty.
Chips: thin cut maccas style.
Beef burger: one of the best, fresh, tasty.
Milk shakes: served in traditional cup, very tasty.
Prices are good.
Staff, most are friendly and accommodating.

Best Coffee shop in Melbourne, reasonably priced, you cannot find any other coffee shop to match these prices, and food is delicious all dishes come out FRESH! and coffee is THE BEST !! I always feel like a family member here, service with a welcoming smile always !! Opens early too!! You won't go wrong if you come here for a coffee , breakfast, lunch or snack.

So wonderful. Absolutely great service, and kindness towards customers. Delicious breakfast and Greek coffee! I highly recommend.

Although a very busy little Cafe, the staff still found time to help me with directions (even shortening his phone call and helping me find the place on my phone) Thank you 🙏 Quiche was amazing, and the cake slices were addictive. While staying at The Windsor Hotel, I preferred breakfast and coffee here. Takeaway coffee is excellent as well. Note that their regular size coffee in Melbourne are half the size of ours in Queensland (or where I live). It's the same all over Melbourne not just here

Top end of my city, I always go for their for the standard $17 BIG breakfast, poached eggs & mug of coffee.

Brilliant location (across from Parliament) rub shoulders with the political system & enjoy the sunshine ☀

This is my favourite cafe in the CBD. Always have a lovely experience coming here, menu is great value for money. Would give 6 stars if I could!

Great simple and fast breakfast at a great price. Coffee was also brilliant. Had the Edcello Special for $17 - eggs, bacon, tomatoes and mushrooms. Not much open on a Sunday morning, but these guys obviously care.

Beautiful location right in front of Parliament, gives you a feel of the old Melbourne.

This place is traditional, classic and simple.

Food and coffee are great quality and they now what they are doing.

Would highly recommend.

We arrived wet and bedraggled from Melbourne rain. 4 adults and 2 infants. The service staff were outstanding, the food was delicious and well priced. They were most welcoming of my toddler granddaughter. And out of the blue a heater went on above us....bliss 😀

Classic Australian breakfast cafe style food, it’s really rare to find cafes that would serve up very simple brekkie meals these days. My favourites are their raisin toast, cheese toast and sandwiches of your choice.

Best eggs in Melbourne..worth the walk..staff efficient and friendly..will breakfast here ahead of anywhere else!..coffee good and strong..no idea where the beans are sourced..it's just good!
