Well the reviews from others are mixed but I have to say for us the dinner was just delightful.
We had the $88 set menu and it was very good value.
Staff were friendly and courteous.
The kingfish carpaccio was thick and tasty, the sushi tasting plate was good, the honey soy chicken was the best I've tasted with a charred crispy skin and perfect balance, and the truffle rice was awesome.
Have recommended to local friends.
We had other Japanese in Melbourne but preferred this restaurant

Fabulous authentic Japanese.
Delightful wait staff
Delicious bite sized dishes for entree: Eggplant, sweet omelette, tofu and salad.
Main of teriyaki chicken with vegies was sufficient for two after those entrees.
Definitely going back, for Ramen in winter.

Excellent Japanese food! Family friendly with high chair for child. Pork broth ramen was tasty and very authentic. Tamago and gyoza was great as well. Happy hour sake tasting set at a good price. Reasonable, would visit again. Highly recommended.

Quick and really lovely service. Drinks were awesome and the food was top quality!
Just the portions were a bit small!

Service was great, lovely atmosphere and the food came out quickly. We ordered the "Tonkotsu Ramen" and it was perfect! Tasty broth, generous serving, simple but tasty ingredients. Would come back again!

Good quality considering the price point, and a great light filled atmosphere in a modern but inviting lane way in a quiet part of Melbourne CBD. Two of us shared two rice bowl sets and a small sushi set - good value and very filling.

I had two dishes. Karaage and teriyaki chicken. They both tasted amazing, especially the karaage was the best I've had in Melbourne. Presentation was also very nice. There's not much food per dish so keep that in mind when you order. The place itself has a nice Japanese feel, you'll get welcomed with the classic irasshaimase and the place has Japanese music playing at a comfortably low level.

We were served by Jo yesterday for dinner, her customer service was exceptional and she went above and beyond for our meals. The food was delicious & fresh and the miso soup was the best miso soup I have ever had. With beautiful wall decal and interior design, I highly recommend this spot for your next lunch or dinner!

Very good quality food, not a big restaurant nice and cosy. Nice to sit in the window and look out at the laneways. Meal come with free tea which is nice! One small thing if you come here hoping to use liven unfortunately they only accept it at dinner time and will not let you use it at lunch time, bit of a bummer otherwise all good!

Flavours were really good - service spot on and will be back - vegetarian gyoza had a nice spice to it - the truffle mushroom rice dish was really good too - i will go back - good edition to a cool little street

I'm no stranger to ramen. I've spent time living in Japan where I discovered the true deliciousness of the dish and have sampled attempts to recreate it all over Australia. This place nails the simple elegance of ramen better than any other Melbourne eatery. It's balanced. The broth is neither too salty nor too watery - no minor achievement! The noodles are that perfect balance of slightly firm, they add in bamboo when most places don't (we loved it!) and they don't cheap out on the negi (spring onion). But most importantly of all, is the egg! It's beautifully sweet!!! I didn't even need to eat it with the broth. Just straight from the spoon. I had to order a second!! My partner continued eating my broth after I finished. Truly delicious and certainly the cheapest decent ramen in Melbourne.

We also feasted on the pork gyoza, pickled vegetables (delicious), karage (classic), and the sesame spinach (a highlight). All top notch. All worth a try! 5 Stars!!!

Authentic Japanese food with very reasonable price. Suitable for families and friends gathering. The sashimi platter is fresh and comes with big variety. The yuzu panna cotta is the best in town! High recommended.

Wanted Japanese for dinner tonight and looked for best rated restaurant near my hotel. Wasn't disappointed. Great sushimi, bento and good black sesame icecream. I also tried something more unusual which was raw octopus marinated with wasabi. It had a bit more kick than I was expecting but I enjoyed the flavour.

This is a little gem in Melbourne. On a cold autumn’s night, I brought my 4 year old daughter to this place for dinner, after we visit the Aquarium (5-8minutes walk away). I ordered the agadeshi tofu and ramen. My daughter wolfed down her ramen and drank the pork bone soup like it was her last meal. Luckily I preempted my daughter’s appetite and ordered extra ramen noodles. The service was second to none. Only thing could have improved was the boiled egg in the ramen, which was too hard for ramen noodles. It should have been more soft-boiled with a gooey yolk center but in this case, it was more of an hard-boiled. Nonetheless, the soup broth was simply amazing on a cold night. I ordered an extra Raman bowl for takeaway for my husband and he relished every single noodle and drop of soup.

Ordered Salmon Teriyaki bento box (rice portion is big) and some snacks for lunch. Food is good and chef is friendly. Value for money.

Had the spicy chicken karaage and then a Ramen. I have to say the food was absolutely amazing! Best Japanese restaurant so far in Melbourne, and will definitely return. Also the service is very good and paying attention to details. Good pricing, and great portion size. Definitely worth to check out :)
