Got myself a takeaway from this place. Very convenient, just across the tram stop 1. It’s a small place but has external seatings. Food is so delicious and very generous portions. Apart from generous portions, food’s also well seasoned. Small menu so not too confusing.great friendly staffs too.

Great for takeaways

Very friendly service, tasty food. Honest and heartwarming business. The hainanese chicken rice and roast pork are excellent.

Had the hainan chicken rice for lunch and it was great. The rice was fragrant and the chicken was silky smooth. The chilli sauce was sweet and salty which went perfect with the chicken however, it's not spicy.
A mate ordered the beef hor fun and it smelt legit, the good wok hei smell. Tasted pretty good too. There are more seats and table at the back of the restaurant. Will be a regular work lunch spot going forward 👍

One of the best Hainanese chicken rice dishes that I've had in a while. Also love that they use free range chicken. The service was also very welcoming and friendly. They close at 7pm so make sure you come earlier for dinner. Looking forward to returning again soon

Great humble yet delicious Hong Kong style with a twist of Vietnamese influences in their menu.
Staff is always super friendly and very happy to have a chat.
Happy to still have some OG Hong Kong eatery around. Keep up the good work!

Edit: took some work mates here during the week and the food was just as great. Got the Ho Fan which hit the spot!

Came to rice at collins today as we were hungry and passed by and thought why not Gice it a try, well my family and I were absolutely shocked at the quality of the soups we ordered, my partner ordered the vietnamese pho, which she said was amazing, and I ordered the seafood Lassa, which was easily the best I've ever had, fresh with very tasty prawns and meat.
Would definitely recommend! Wonderful service too!

Dropped in at about 4 PM on a weekday & managed to grab the last Hainanese chicken rice of the day. The staff were very warm & friendly, and had a lovely personal touch with their customers.

The Hainanese chicken was delicious, tender and importantly, it was at room temperature, which Hainanese chicken should be. The chilli sauce was quite off the mark (more chilli oil based) but nonetheless, it will not detract you from enjoying your chicken rice.

Addendum: Dropped in on another day for dinner, and had their beef stir fried hor fun. Likewise delicious. Could taste the "wok hei/hey"! And the beef slices were generous.

Will try to return and have the other menu items!

This place is surprisingly good! We ordered fried hor fun with beef (stir fried flat rice noodles. Quite flavourful with slightly smokey aroma), combination curry laksa (also very flavourful, generous fillings), and pan fried dumplings (they looked very home made, not like those big chunky ones. Tasted quite good).

Good portion size and price is very reasonable. The aunty and uncle are friendly. There are more sitting at the back, near lobby area.

Will come back for more fried hor fun!

Me and my friend come here every day. Sometimes more than once. Friendly staff. Quality of food is excellent, delicious and healthy for the price, high protein and good fibre. And they are high integrity people, often refusing my offer to pay them extra for what I consider to be ultra-value service. Will keep coming back.

Love visiting this place for their prawn wonton noodles with laksa broth. Don't forget to add a dollop or two of their homemade chilli oil. The aunties there are always friendly and waiting to serve up some delicious food.

Hole in the wall varied Asian cuisine serves up fresh noodle soup at even the most awkward lunch hour! I don’t miss much about living in Melbourne, but the food is phenomenal, and reviews MATTER.

Mid transfer and about to leave Southern Cross station, a craving for Asian kicks in and I need to hit the spot. We all know that the country isn’t as blessed with good Asian cuisine, so I decide to scratch the itch in the CBD.

On my way in, a lot of places weren’t going to be open for me to get a feed at the awkward eating hour of 4pm.

And while beggars can’t be choosers, I wasn’t going to let my opportunity for a meal in Melbourne be a miss, by not eating somewhere with good reviews.

As a woman with a reputation myself, I know I can appreciate another big reputation in return 😉

The restaurant is well lit, and easily visible. Right in front of a Tram stop too, for all you PT lovers!

I walk in and the bains-marie were full of rich and fresh looking hot delights of various east and south East Asian cuisines. A well lit and clean fridge with various vegetables that go into selections such as Hainan Chicken, Curry (Laksa) Soup, Traditional Beef Pho, and of course..

BBQ Pork Noodle Soup, that I selected.

The helpful cashier suggested I get the egg noodles, and yes, they absolutely are the best match with BBQ pork.

I get comfortable on the stool at the bench which peers out to Collins street, but I’ll feels kind of cozy, as I’m protected from the drizzle only a few metres away.

Only 5 minutes go by before my noodles come out. It’s steaming. Ooh she’s piping hot and the epitome of comfort in this wet and cold weather, but not too hot. No need to wait around for too long to tuck in. It looked too delicious!

A generous portion of BBQ pork and the flavours were perfect. Sweet and teaming so perfectly with the ever so delicately sour clear soup. A solid amount of fresh egg noodles and a mountain of fresh vegetables.

Chopsticks with a few napkins (how did she know I’m a grubby eater, and needed more? 🤔) along with a traditional Chinese soup spoon.

I enjoyed my food first and then looked forward to writing up this review.

Thank you, Rice @ Collins.
I will return on my next trip down!

Peace and noodles to all 🍜😘
