Seriously great noodles! These handmade noodles are sincerely delicious, and with a great vegetarian option. The pricing is really reasonable too. I had tomato, eggplant and egg noodles with a side of marinated kohlrabi. Staff are lovely and attentive. The bathrooms were really modern and clean. You can also order via QR code and pay at counter.

This is the perfect spot for a cheap and hearty dinner!!! The portion is actually really decent, come here with an empty stomach because OMG i couldn’t finish it and had to take away the rest, was super full!!!

We enjoyed everything we ordered here. Their traditional pork, tomato, and egg combination is a must-try – so flavourful, and the noodles are cooked to perfection so chewy. Their crispy pan-fried dumplings and pork burgers are also really good, especially with their chili oil.

This restaurant does really amazing noodles . Nice springy noodles that have a nice bite and well soaked in their homemade sauces …

I keep dreaming about their bouncy noodles and flavorful chilli oil.
It’s an extremely budget-friendly option as well 😌

I ordered this store with ubereat once and found I love there dumpling so much plus the chilli oil is fresh and good.

So I came to the store just to eat dumpling. 😅

Cannot give any comment on noodle yet but every other tables ordered noodle. The store is big, lots of table and clean.

This small restaurant serves traditional hand cut noodles and you can get either full soup or dry / saucy style. We tried two different dry noodles, the traditional pork / egg / tomato combo and the chicken gravy. The noodles themselves are chewy and the sauces are light tasting which lends it's homely flavour. The hidden gem for us was the pickled radish, it's crunchy and pickled really well.

Absolutely love the steamed handmade noodles. The noodles were of excellent texture - a little bit springy, a little bit firm and a whole lot of yum. The beef noodle soup blasts amazing flavours, as did the pan-fried dumplings. Good value for money too.

I found this little gem noodle restaurant 2min walk from Melbourne central. Authentic and heart warming food from Shan Xi province in China - renowned for its specialty in noodles and pastry.

The cold dishes were on the table once the order was placed, which is extremely fast. I ordered five-spice beef, crunchy radish, and Jindao chicken. The crunchy radish and grilled chicken are must-orders. The chicken is shredded, very crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.

The gravy noodle is one of the most authentic I had in Melbourne so far. The gravy made with chicken stock is delicious and thick. The portion is very generous - the noodles are freshly sliced ​​noodles made in the store.

highly recommend their special bun with juicy pork. The bun is a crispy bun, which has a layered texture when biting. This is also handmade in the store. The meat inside tastes warm and sweet. The gravy soaked in the bun which makes it taste even nicer.

The bottom of the pork dumplings is very crunchy. This time I also tried their new dish - big plate chicken noodles. The potatoes inside are very soft.

Both food and service are nice. The price and portion are also very reasonable, and you can have a very decent meal for around $20.

This place is a must! Those noodles were so delicious and glutenous, tasty mince pork, and condiments to adjust the flavour. Reasonable cost for a lunch. I recommend also order the pickled cucumber. I can't wait to return!

How convenient. Right at the doorstep of Novotel. More importantly, late closing, for people like me on a different time zone.

Ordered the standard beef noodle soup since its my first visit.

Not disappointed. Soup was wholesome, full of flavour, and just the right level of saltiness. Beef was super tender. Melt-in-your-mouth type. And the shaved noodles were spot-on, exactly like those you find in mainland China.

Definitely will be back to try the other menu items

Really great noodle place , had the beef, egg and tomato noodle, cucumber salad. Quite delicious!

Dumplings crispy and juicy. Chilli oil nice. Braised beef alright. Traditional pork dish taste flavors of tomato and lard, might want add topping too.

Good atmosphere and bit of queue during peak hours. Food arrive within 20-25 minutes.

So SO GOOD! at this point I’ve tried everything on the menu, and none of them have let down.

My favourites are the beef noodle soup, and the tomato & egg noodles. The dumplings are a close contender with their beautiful crispy skirt though.

The noodles have a great bite to them, and the sauces and soup always taste delicious and clean (weird description for food, but it just doesn’t leave my mouth and stomach feeling strange).

The tables and environment are always neat and clean, and the service is super friendly too. Highly reccomend!

Brought many of my friends to Dao now, and they always love it.

I came here previously for their noodles (the main focus) and returned to try the dumplings and the pork burger. All 3 dishes were great. Sadly the base of the dumplings didn't survive the trip to the table intact, but they tasted good all the same.

The QR code ordering system is easy to use and has photos of all the dishes.

*The minced pork noodle is a must have.
The noodles are the absolute star here and as they describe and abbreviate the DAO meaning, it means something to the terms of hand made sliced noodle by knife. Which is exactly what you see the chef doing at the front viewing window!
*The noodles are so bouncy, they take a unique forms and shape only found at DAO Noodle and due to this unique shape, texture and form you know 100% it is handmade and the quality thst is achieved through the knife method is there as soon as you take your first bite.
*The minced pork and ingredients also complement the noodles in every way possible. Soft minced pork, no nasty bits or bone a nice punchy sauce. It is the #1 Chinese noodle definitely in my list in Melbourne and I will definitely make time to come back again.
