Code Black Coffee Spencer Street

I know Melbourne has an excellent coffee scene, so I was excited to start my exploration. This was my first stop and it was a good choice. I initially wanted a pour over, but to my surprise it’s the most expensive way to drink your coffee here. So I opted for the long black and it was fantastic. It was super flavorful and done really well. The barista was great and we talked coffee for a bit, and it was evident he enjoys what he does. Vibe is cool with some spots to sit inside and outside.

Had a flat white which was full of flavour; coffee was strong and not milky at all. Also ordered one of their protein balls from the cabinet which had plenty of hazelnut inside out and a very mild chocolate flavour. They also have a variety of single origin beans for espresso and pour over if you want more than a regular cup of coffee as well as a coffee set consisting of an espresso, latte and batch brew.

The baristas and staff are really passionate about coffee and knowledgeable too. We were given excellent recommendations on what drinks we should try and what beans to buy based on our preferences.

There’s limited seating capacity but the aesthetic of the place is quite modern and edgy.

I tried a latte made from chiroso beans. A little pricey ($10) but the taste was amazing and definitely worth every dollar. It had flavours of strawberries and cream and such a pleasant aroma.

My friend got a latte from their house blend which also tasted great.

Location is also very convenient. Just a stones throw away from the southern cross station.

Code Black coffee was a delightful experience. The baristas are passionate craftsmen, and love to share their rich knowledge on coffee.

Despite the prices being on the higher end, the overall coffee drinking experience, the quality of the brew, and the excellent service from the coffee-passionate baristas fully justify the price tag.

For its standout coffee experience, I have to give a well-deserved 5 out of 5 stars. It's the kind of place where the coffee never disappoints. Absolutely recommend!

What an amazing find. It reminds me of the super minimalist coffee shops found in Korea and Japan. Delicious pastries and perfect batch, I’m a happy man.

Great spot of a quick take away coffee! The staff were nice and friendly and the venue is cool and unique! The coffee was tasty and made well! The price was a little more than expected for 2 coffees ($12.50) but can’t complain considering it is a quality coffee! Overall I have to give it a 5 out of 5 stars as there was nothing I could complain about! I definitely recommend Code Black coffee!

Finally they opened after 2.5 years !!! They remain the high standard as per other code black cafe and also you can see the store design is quite different!! U feel like walking into a club ?! Quite cool. Really love the staff recommendations on the coffee, friendliness of staff really make our day - 5 star service !!! I used to go to the other code black in south bank but the coffee bean options or recommendations from staff are so different!! Next to the hotel n opp to train station, u can’t miss this little store, please have a seat and enjoy a sip of coffee.

My friend loved the coffee! And the hot chocolate I ordered was delicious! It was not peak hour, so there was no line and service was fast. Would recommend :)

This is my go to place after I jump off the train at Southern Cross! Coffee is incredible, right temperature and full of flavour without bitterness. Staff are warm and welcoming and although it’s a tiny space inside, I can usually squeeze in at the bench somewhere as I’m not fond of a takeaway.

Very friendly and knowledgeable people, makes you feel welcomed. Makes good coffee as well despite the rush hour period. Keep up the good work team!

Had their specialty espresso and special brew of the day on 4 different days. Really enjoyed their coffee. Highly recommend the 10 dollar espresso (Corazon) as it really does emit and taste strong fruity flavor.

Finally got to try this location after its extended closure. The coffee is fantastic and expertly prepared by their baristas who receive the best training (Jarrod today was great). The pastry selection was also extensive for 4pm when I went. It’s an excellent choice for when looking for a coffee between 2 - 5pm on the west side of town.

I had really good coffee here(even better than their Headquarter😂) and the staffs were so passionate about their coffee too!
