Dr Karen Holzer

Karen Holzer was my specialist over a 1+year period. I was heavily into fitness, it took 2 years of suffering from aches and pains before the discomfort became intolerable and a friend recommended Karen Holzer. Karen quickly assessed my issues via MRI, X-ray and and ultrasound. Karen's care program (in clinic treatments, Physio, PRP and cortisone injections) lead to a full recovery. It took time and patience, something I had to learn during the course of my recovery. This experience taught me to trust my physicians and recovery takes time. I was able to heal without any operations. I highly recommend Karen, she is always very busy and consults can sometimes run over time. I suggest you book months in advance if going on a regular basis, thank you Karen.

After countless unsuccessful visits to doctors concerning early onset arthritis in my knees, Karen immediately had a plan of action for me. She was the only doctor who didn't tell me I was too young and I should come back in ten years. It has changed my whole outlook on life. Karen is awesome.

I first visited Dr Holzer 4 years ago with a running related ankle issue. It was quickly diagnosed and given the right treatment to get me pain free and mobile again.

Karens approach is extremely thorough and her knowledge is very impressive. I no longer visit a GP. I now go directly to Karen for any medical issues.

She has helped lots of my friends and family as well. I would definitely recommend her to anyone wanting expert medical advice in Melbourne.

Clinically, she may be one of the best sports medicine doctors who refers for bulk billed MRIs at Imaging@Olympic Park. However, she has no sense of time - she is consistantly 0.5 to 1.5hrs behind the schedulled times (her reception staff were reminding several patients about this when i was waiting) and she still acted as though she had all the time in the world in the appointment. Her reception staff are also all over the shop. Her reception staff are clearly incompetent. Eg no record of my Medicare number yesterday despite it being given at my first appointent only a few weeks ago. Then the worst of it was booking a cortisone injection at Olympic Park last night telling me in person that it was today at 2:35pm. I re-arranged my training and work schedulle to fit this in as a priority only to turn up and be told it has been booked in for tomorrow. Very frustrating experience. It is bad enough getting injured then to be continually stuffed around with appointment times and losing information is just wrong.

Good news update: OP fitted me in today when i went back and asked them if they could do anytime today.

I had 2x rounds of injections into my elbow. Absolutely a complete waste of time and money, had no impact at all.
