I’m so glad we found this place. After a hot day at the beach the sushi and sashimi platter was the perfect reward. The staff were so nice and honestly what legends for braving the heat! 10/10 recommend going here!

I've been to Y14 twice now. The first for my son's birthday at the start of January, the second with my girlfriend to celebrate Valentines Day . Both experiences were very good. We enjoyed delicious, fresh Japanese food, with Japanese beer and mixed drinks.

Had an awesome dinner at this cosy and friendly local restaurant.

Every dish was fresh and tasty. Fish was excellent. Chicken dishes were very tasty.

Had fried chicken, sashimi, inside out rolls, gyoza and calamari.

Fun to watch the sushi made at the seating near the counter.

Early sitting catered to younger families and was great.

Highly recommeded.

Whoever awarded this fine establishment 1 star clearly doesn’t appreciate food. With an impressive array of Japanese flavours and an ambience to match, look no further than Y14. This suburban gem will save me countless hours on traveling to the city for good Japanese. If you love Japanese food, do yourself a favour :)

Well prepared delicious food with good quality ingredients. Definitely recommend.

We ordered the mixed sushi and sashimi platter, and the miso eggplant. Together with two beers and two mixed drinks, dinner came to around $135 for the meal incl tip.

The eggplant was perfectly cooked while the miso was generous and not overly salty.

The platter included: two types of sashimi (salmon and king fish); a couple of king prawns, a couple of dressed fresh oysters, a couple of seared scallops in shell, a couple of seared salmon sushi, and three types of sliced sushi rolls.

Everything was fresh and delicious, and there was an excellent balance of fish to rice. There were slices of fresh radish and cucumber, as well as seaweed on the plate to freshen the palate between tastes. The accompanying wasabi was enjoyably spicy and had a slight texture, making me wonder if it had been freshly made, and the ginger was plentiful.

All scrumptious. Will definitely return.

I ❤ Y14! Beautiful, high-quality Japanese food on Sandringham’s charming Bay Road. Great for groups as most of the dishes are perfect for sharing. Lovely place to sit outside and watch the world go by. The kingfish sashimi, fried chicken and savory pancake are must-haves. Seriously delicious food, warm and friendly service and it’s a stone’s throw from the beach - what more could you ask for?! Well to think of it, can you open a branch in North Melbourne, pleeease?

Well I have been wanting to go to Y14 for some time after following them on social media, And I can truly say it was AMAZING!! and exeded every expectation :) the food was so packed with flavour every mouthfull was breathtaking! My partner and I think it is the best Japanese we have ever had 10/10.

We can't wait to return with all our friends!

An absolute favourite of ours now and will keep coming back as often as we can. The food is simply incredible. Narrowing down the choices is proving impossible so I recommend ordering everything. A couple of favourites are the Donburi and Okonomiyaki - don't miss! Excellent vegetarian options too and all so beautifully presented. The staff were friendly and the service was superb. We love the atmosphere in there and have now ranged from table sitting with a group to sitting up at the bar and loved both. Cannot recommend this place enough.

An amazing night out. Everything from the location, the vibe inside, the service to the food was exceptional. I have had their food a couple of times now, and two of my favourites is the Wagyu Tataki and the Double Wagyu Beef Inside Out Roll, but all of the food was scrumptious. Forgot to mention, also loved the Kingfish Carpaccio. I definitely recommend going 😋

Heads up, worth while making a booking in advance otherwise if you're a walk in, you'll have to wait until a table is freed up as they're all full for a reason.

Popped in on Saturday late afternoon and was not disappointed. Attentive service and a chilled/relaxed vibe. Seared salmon nigiri and the Karaage YFC were the highlights. Will be back!!

Delicious food, beautiful venue and fantastic staff. My partner and I have been coming here for at least 3 years. Everything is always fresh and super authentic. Great drinks list too.

onight I dined at Y14 and I simply couldn’t help myself but to leave a review. The food was absolutely outstanding! All the food was so fresh and traditional! My personal favourite was the Spicy Tuna Sushi Roll, it was to die for! The service at Y14 has never let me down, they are so fast and efficient, and deliver with so much care. I would also like to make a special mention to our waitress tonight, she told us her name was Amelia. She was so kind and caring and had a very extensive knowledge of all the food we ordered and gave us great recommendations! I hope to see her at our next visit! Overall, exceptional food, outstanding service and a beautiful dining experience! Thankyou Y14, perfect dining experience for a balmy Melbourne night!
