It is wonderful to go to a significant point of interest. The Cairn is a great testimony to the surveyors. A lovely spot for a picnic and look over the lake

Geographical centre of Tassie! A pleasant spot to stop and stretch the legs. Plenty of parking, particularly given the limited number of visitors. Nice views of Bronte Lagoon, but be cautious of snakes nearby. There's a monument/marker, signpost and sheltered area. Some areas for viewing wildlife for those interested too. Limited picnic area, but sheltered which is sometimes needed.

This pristine location is not only the geographical centre of Tasmania, but is the home to over a hundred lagoons, ponds and full size lakes, many readily accessible and bordered by an impressive variety of both hardwood and pine trees. Hairy nosed Wombats, Paddy Melon wallabies and prolific native bird life abound. Far away from the "madding crowd" it will be a real shame if you fail to visit the Geographical Centre of Tasmania"
