Manager was friendly and helpful. The rate was inexpensive and the building overall is a little tired, however the room was large and had all the amenities offered by much more expensive hotels, just a little more basic which I expected. The location is terrific. 5 minutes to the CBD, good cafe next door, Cornwall Bus Transit Centre roughly 10 minutes walk away.

Thank you for a lovely visit! The staff James, Chrissy and Leah were wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. I loved the history of the hotel and the beautiful church across the road. I also loved the town clock which was comforting and made me feel at home. My room was clean, well sized and very comfortable. The Hotel was close to the beautiful city park and also centrally located to shops, restaurants etc….I recommend The Cornwall Hotel to anybody travelling who loves history and character in a hotel.

I rate this hotel 9/10. First of all it was the cheapest place we could stay in Launceston that was about 5 minutes walk to the main shopping area. My partner and I got we paid for on the first night being put in a small room with one frosted window, a bed with only one pillow each, and an oldish looking bathroom with a stained sink and hair in it 😅 but it still had NETFLIX!!).

BUT we did notice it was a bit quiet and so we asked if we could maybe move to one of the rooms with a wonderful view of the old church across the road and to our surprise, the kind manager (Jason) moved us to a room with exactly that AND MORE on the second night (including an extra bed, stunning updated bathroom and grand big window with a view of the church!!).

Obviously had to get him some choccy’s to say thank you, this service was a highlight of our trip and I wish him all the best. Amazing place which lots of heritage and amazingly kind staff.

I would recommend, however, the hotel upload some photos of what the other rooms look like rather than just the 4 nice ones since it seems that majority of the rooms people are put in are the older run down ones.

The room was clean, comfortable bed and hot shower. The staff were amazing, nothing was a bother at all. They all became great buddies with my 14 month old. For the price, location and service you couldn't get better anywhere.

Great budget hotel close to city centre. Expecting all the bells & whistles of a 5 star hotel? You'll be pleasantly surprised at it's charm. Yes the rooms are budget, clean & comfortable for an older establishment. James & staff are more than accommodating for anything you request. He is also onsite 24/7. The Eatery next door have a great menu breakfast selection @ great prices. I would certainly stay again. Oh & for those complaining about the chiming of town clock, you can hear it on the other side of town, another Launceston icon

Stayed 1 night. Room was in good condition. More than enough towels and hot water. My booking did not include meals. I went to the coffee shop next door

This is far most the best hostel I have been. Price/quality wise it cannot be better. Rooms are perfect, have private bathroom and common rooms are kept clean and tidy, since everyone is cleaning after themselves. The best budget hostel you can be at! Definitely recommend anyone who is visiting Launceston or looking for a place to stay long term. Only downside during my stay: WiFi quality was very bad.

Beautiful old building right in the middle of Launceston, within walking distance to the restaurant district and supermarkets. Staff were really friendly and helped us with our luggage.
Rooms were recently renovated and basic - but that was perfect for what we wanted, especially the for the prices.
Lots of history in the hotel too, which is displayed on the walls with plaques and portraits from the 1800's.

WHEEL CHAIR FREINDLY! Don't be fooled by the front step. They bring out a fold up ramp and it is just perfect. Simply ask. The prices are very reasonable and the food (breakfast) was VERY good. We had omelette and eggs Benedict. Great sized portions. Coffe was as good as anywhere. The staff were all smiles and keen to help. We give it 5 stars. Very good b,fast and drinks with sour dough all for under $50.00

Really nice hostel. Excellent prices. Spacious dorms with a little desk even. Spacious common area with couches and tables for working and stuff. Good wifi. Great location. Have heard it's noisy on Fridays and Saturdays, but I stayed here on a Sunday night and it was super quiet and pleasant.

Beautiful old building, steeped in history.
Friendly, helpful staff, Immaculate room and perfect location.
We have paid 3 times as much for a 'hotel' room that hasn't been anywhere near as clean or in such close proximaty to a city centre.
Highly recommend the Batman Fawkner and will definitely stay again.

Booked a queen sized room which was really clean. The hostel is located in a perfect location of a small town right next to several restaurants and CBD. Would recommend, I don't have experience about shared rooms but they looked clean and tidy.

We stayed one night at this inn and thought it was first class for a so called budget inn. The room was quite spacious, clean and functional. The shower, TV worked well and the beds were very comfortable.. Ben was a delight to work with. The only concern we had was parking our cars, there are 7-8 parking spaces available so first in best dressed, however other Inns etc offer no parking at all, so I guess you have to be thankful for small mercies We would not hesitate staying at the Batman Fawkner Inn next time we visit Launceston . If you like Italian food try Franco's across the road from the Inn.

Stayed new years eve so didn't have to drive home. Thought it may be a little rowdy with it being that time of year, but slept like a log in a double room that was easily as good as anything you pay big bucks for elsewhere. It was clean and the staff helpful and chatty. Well worth a stay if on a buget.

Historic hostel at the heart of the city. Within walking distance of CBD, City Park and everything else in Launceston. Also, though they advertise 4-person dorms, each room is made for only two, which makes it easier to manage belongings and creates a more personal feel. Laundry on-site and 24-hr kitchen.

Great location, clean comfortable accommodation. Just what we needed for our bucks night in Launceston at a reasonable price. If you just need a bed for a night or two get on it .

We had a double private room and it had all the normal things for a motel rather than a hostel (tea, coffee, TV, soap).
Comfortable bed and very clean.
