I believe this walking trail is truly enjoyable for people of all ages, from children to the elderly. Walking while sharing koala sightings with others adds a special touch, and we were able to spot seven wild koalas. Additionally, there are remnants from World War II, making it a great opportunity to learn about history. It's highly recommended to bring plenty of water when participating in the walk. Overall, I think this is truly the best walking trail.

Great walk with beautiful outlooks on the top, colourful birds, and most importantly koalas. Of course, you need to be lucky. I would not say that there is any particular time of the day that is preferable here. Many people recommended going in early morning to see more koalas, but we went multiple mornings and the most we saw was one koala. We also did walk during the heat of the day at 2pm and saw 7 koalas, on the very same day. However, obviously the walk itself is much more pleasant during early mornings and late evenings. Nevertheless, I would rather recommend using the mornings or nights for the rock wallabies or the beautiful sunrise and sunset spots.

We travelled from sydney to cairns and this was the only place we saw wild koalas, and it was a few, think we saw 5 on the way. 5 stars for that alone. Other than that it is a easy hike and a nice lookout at the end. Maybe 20 minutes each way. Expect to stop to take pictures and see koalas, just dont touch or bother them😁

Nice view at the top, walk itself is not too difficult, but also not that special. We saw one super sweet koala on the way to horseshoe bay! I recommend finishing your walk to the horseshoe bay instead of doing the circuit. It’s a fun walk! Lot’s of steps though, keep that in mind with the heat. Mostly shade as well.

You can see why this is a favourite of the island! I love my WW2 history and it was so interesting what the men and women did during 1942-1945 and super strange that no one knows here the guns are today. I walked extremely fast and did it all in 40min but recommend you need a minimum of 1.5 hours to do it properly. Saw 4 koalas and 2 wallabies as well

Well worth the hike, the trail itself isn't too far; it's quite an easy hike.. a few stairs/inclines along the way but relatively easy..various historical command posts and historical information along the trail as well.
Beautiful lookouts and scenery. Keep an eye out to see Koalas along the way! Don't forget to bring water and sunscreen :)

I never and even imagine that !!!!!
A koala appeared in front of my eyes when I turned around and walked towards me and slowly. So close to me ,I even can touch him ♥♥♥
He was not afraid of me at all. I was happy to spend those 510 minutes with him. I think if you want to meet a koala, you must Walking quietly, they are really cute animals this experience for me absolutely beautiful and fantastic 🤣

Nice and easy walking track. You can see some Koalas and wallaby’s around the way. Also you got a lots of information about magnetic islands use as a strategic point in the Second World War. At the top of the track you can visit the Signal Station and the Command Post.

If your goal is to spot a Koala in the wild then this is your best bet! We walked the Forts track in the afternoon and encountered 4 koalas. A couple were up on the foliage and one came down to the ground briefly.

The track is wide and easy to follow and there are a few smaller off shoots you can walk down to have a better look.

Decent sized parking lot and toilets at the base of the trail.

A lovely walk and the opportunity to see koalas was amazing. We did the loop around to Florence bay and had a little dip in the bay before heading back to bus stop.

A must-do walk for anyone visiting Magnetic Island! It is absolutely beautiful and really well maintained! Toilets are available at the start of the walk. A water tap for refilling your water bottle can be found close to the summit. Koalas live in the area too.

Nice track to spot some wildlife. Go early in the morning or in the late afternoon before dawn. It's the best time to spot the wildlife. The fords are very nice. Nice amount about WW2. For the views, go early because it's a little climb and then the temperature is still doable. Don't forget to bring water. 😉

Great walk, you can see wild koalas 🐨
In the middle of the path you have water spot to fill up your bottle.
You must go to Florence Bay and Arthur Bay after check all the military buildings.
The path is easy to follow however you need to be a little be fit to make all the road.

Good track with very high chance to encounter koalas around the route.

Look for the small sticks arranged as arrows pointing towards were the koalas are last seen.

There are a place to fill up water along the track but the taste was not good.

The Forts Junction Hub and facilities have been upgraded as of May 2021 and now boasts a large carpark, accessible toilets, bike racks to lock your bike up, two water stations and a range of updated signage. Definitely worth checking out if you are on the Island for the day.

There are regular buses that come and go on both sides of the road, with shaded seating available. Be sure to check timetables though particularly on weekends and public holidays.

The walking track is a bitumen mix, which allows access via a golf buggie. You can access here with a wheelchair, but it would be recommended to use a terrain friendly chair for a access. You can go partway before the track narrows and turns into stairs.

If you keep following the track, you will find steps taking you through the old fort bunkers, remnants of military activity. Head up the stairs and track, and you will find beautiful sweeping views of Magnetic Island and a sea of trees in the landscape.

Keep an eye on the walking track for sticks and stones marked in an arrow formation, as this will normally indicate where you can see wild koalas sleeping in the trees.

A great day out for locals and visitors alike.

Great tracks, loved our day exploring and Arthur's Beach. We did the loop, down to Arthur's Beach and found the track (not quite finished yet) that went up to the forts track. Lot and lots of steps but easy going, will be an asset to the area when finish.
