This heritage and military museum can be a day long visit for anyone interested in why we can live in such a lovely country as Australia. Please allow at least a leisurely day, have lunch at the local cafe opposite the fuel pumps. Great hamburger and chips and cappuccino. On the way back to Merredin turn off on Nunkarni East Road to view concrete bunkers used in WW2 to store munitions in the event of Japanese invasion.

Awesome Museum!! The building was constructed in 1942 by the Army. Some machinery has been lovely restored on site by the volunteers. You can get breakfast there most Sunday mornings. Well worth a visit to find out what went on in the Wheatbelt during WW2 So much history in this very little town. Locals that I met were very welcoming.

Amazing place, full of machinery and ww2 vehicles with all sorts of displays. Run by a bunch of caring volunteers. A must see destination. Could easily spend the whole day roaming around the area here, the Museum is only the tip of the iceberg for historians, the land surrounding the museum also has the remains of other buildings that were built during WW2. Looking forward to seeing the old WW2 searchlight brighten up the skies this March.

Honestly one of the best military and local history museums you will ever visit. Well worth the low entry fee. Staff wonderful, being both friendly and engaging, without being pushy. Everything, both in the huge shed and the yard, is on one level, so it is all accessible by wheelchair. Ample parking in the yard. Be sure to check the WW2-era Nungarin map in the entry room as there is literally items of interest in every area. Highly recommended.

Can't remember his name but the fella who was a volunteer was amazing. Fantastic knowledge of the museum and its history. The museum itself was immense and well worth a visit. We are very keen to go back for their spotlight show in March 2023. Well done Nungarin.

My wife and I visited the museum today the 25th May 2011. It must have been the coldest overnight temperature for this year 4C but we were blessed by a bright sparkling sunny day.
However the welcome we got from the local group who give up their time to man and maintain this wonderful piece of Australian Military history was enough to warm the coldest persons heart.
A rather large and jolly individual made us, the first visitors of the day very welcome and put on a short video for us to watch on the history of the 5 BOD and museum.
My wife and I then embarked on a fantastic journey into our past with some wonderful fine exhibits from our military past and also agricultural heritage donated from individuals from the local shire!.

We spent a pleasant couple of hours wondering through the museum with its wonderful exhibits before we were very kindly asked if we would like to join the group as they took a break from their duties to have morning tea with them.
What ensued while we enjoyed a coffee was we were given an incredible insight into the human endeavour orchestrated mainly by one local individual who inspired and helped give life and made the museum the success it is today.
The locals who man this museum are also a very enthusiastic and dedicated group who I guarantee will make you visit and enjoyable experience.
Make the journey to Nungarin, You won't regret it!

One word to describe this museum, Wow! My wife and I spent over 2 hours going through this place and still didn't get to see everything. Around every corner something more. Wonderful volunteers who do a tremendous job. Definitely go back.

One of the best miltary/war museums I've been to, the amount of machines to look at - plus you can get in them - is amazing, and the shed itself is impressive. The local history of the area's role in the war is very interesting and the volunteers were fantastic. Highly recommended, please support this great place!

You really need to stop in and visit this lovely town. What an amazing collection of military vehicles, some of which are being lovingly restored, together with heaps of other memorabilia that are bound to bring back fond memories. The volunteers who run this place are doing an amazing job, well done!
