Pete's Place

Palm Cove is well known for its many luxury hotels and overpriced restaurants. Before all of that there was Pete’s and it’s still here which tells you something. An iconic favourite with the locals Pete’s has a great location in the middle of the esplanade. There’s some seating with its unique cafe atmosphere, or grab takeaway and sit on the beach front. If you feel like a burger or fish and chips this is the spot. Burgers are old school, homemade, big, full of flavour and they even still put pineapple on the works burgers.

Used to come here every other day when I lived in Clifton Beach as a teenager. Was so glad to come back half a decade later to find the food, service, portions and prices are still as fabulous as I remember. Cheap cheerful and can't wait to come back next time I'm in town. Pete's Place is an absolute institution!

Nice place to stop for a rest and enjoy some fish and chips or hamburger by the beach.

Nicely positioned in the middle of the Esplanade in Palm Cove, this place has a convenience store attached , as well as the fast food section.

Bacon and Egg roll was very fresh, and delicious.

Plenty of outdoor seating in front of the shop or the side street. Otherwise, cross the road and enjoy your snacks and drinks by the beach.

Absolutely delicious eggs benedict, with a super tasty watermelon juice. Great price and great food. Stunning location with beach views with your food. Highly recommend.

Pete’s place is a take away shop and convenience store, however they also do have some beachfront area available outside without the price tag of nearby expensive restaurants.
The staff are very friendly and the food is old school cafe style. Big serving sizes, tasty and good value for money.

There is also a selection of locally made products, souvenirs and a good variety of bug and insect repellents for all sorts of biting insects that you find in tropical North Queensland

My top three recommendations are: the dinosaur nuggets for kids, fruit smoothies and the works burger

We grabbed fish and chips for the family and I thought the food was reasonably priced, quick and the chips were a generous serving size. I wouldn't hesitate to go to Pete's Place again.

It's everything you would expect at a local fish and chip takeaway shop 😋

This morning I had a simple bacon and egg roll/burger
It was the most traditional style bacon and egg roll and how good did it taste!!
I'm sad to only have had one since I'm leaving palmcove today .

Crispy bacon ! Runny perfect egg ! On an oldschool bun exactly how it should be . Not fancied up or some new school way . Just purely good bacon and a fresh egg

Best bacon & eggs!!! So much food. It was so delicious. Very nice staff aswell. Our giant meal which wasn't even the biggest option was $13 each. Some places around here want $18 for muesli! Pete's place is fantastic! Check it out.

Great location and reasonably priced and delicious burgers and toasted sandwiches. Good big solid outdoor furniture with umbrellas spaced well and a relaxed breezy spot across from the Palm Cove beach. You can hear the waves crashing on the shore. Loved it.

The food was absolutely delicious I ordered a cheese burger and wow real mince filled with delicious beetroot tomato and cos lettuce on a massive bread roll! It was so tasty hands down best burgers in palm cove :) the follow night ordered the fish and chips and fish burger wow proper fresh fish I was blown away! Great prices and amazing customer service highly recommend!

A great 'Big breakfast'. Thoroughly enjoyed it all. It was exactly what I was looking for.
2 eggs, 2 sausages, lots of bacon, 3 hash browns, toast and baked beans. Yum 😋

We stopped by for a snack and were pleasantly surprised. Great chips are hard to come by, and this place has them. The staff are lovely and the chips are crunchy. What more could you ask for?!

Petes place. Right on the foreshore in palm Beach, looks like a local shop in small country town. Random supplies one side and the chippery counter the other. Classic local chip shop, where you'd get a fatty feed and a new pair of cheap sunnies to loose in the water.

We stopped by for breakfast, I ordered a bacon BLT, with expectations low was served this beauty, firstly presentation was spectacular, the sandwich looked fresh, full and served hot. On first bite, there was a crunch from not only the bacon and toast, but also from the lettuce. Freshly made and such a simple sanga, yet done so well. If your ever in Cairns I could not recommend more.

Love our meal, barramundi & chips, cheeseburgers for the kids. The chips are thick and crispy, just the way they should be! The food was worth the wait at peak time, thank you to the cook for his work!

We did a bit of a walk around the Esplanade on our first morning in Palm Cove and came across Pete's Place. We liked the sound of a burger, not normally something we would buy. I ordered The Max, which had the works. The meat patty was very tasty and perfectly cooked and was accompanied with all the normal salad items and bacon in a large bun. The flavour was amazing, the best burger I've ever had. The location is right on the water and it was a great introduction to Palm Cove for us.

10/0 chicken burger! So fresh and not greasy at all. The chips are crunchy and fresh too. We’ll be back!

Great family owned business with great food and a wide variety. Definitely underrated and deserves more credit.

Great easy takeaway style food. Lots of choices at a great price point, especially for families. The burgers with the lot are excellent and the breakfast is great value, with plenty of bacon, yummy toast and eggs. The fresh juice they make is a standout. Really great affordable place in palm cove for takeaway or grab a seat out the front and enjoy the people watching.

Anyone not giving this place a 5 star review simply doesn’t understand it!

In the whole area where else can you get good quality food at this price? It’s often half the price of nearby cafes and the food is much better than you’ll expect; with properly cooked bacon and eggs at a genuinely low price and perfectly made coffee, just go here right now if you’re looking for a low cost breakfast.

Or go elsewhere and spend $25+ per person 😁

The convenience store section is also what the name suggests, a convenience store. You cannot expect to pay Coles prices here, it’s not Coles.
