Had fried eggplant with Chilli, shrimp with salted egg yolk, fish in sauce (can't remember but it took up half a page in the menu), pan fried buns (very good) and noodles (also can't remember the dish). Overall a great experience. Unfortunately, you can't book here and the 90 minute limit eating time is more than enough. The rice bucket is massive and I only recommend getting it if you have more than 4 people.

There's always such a long line so I always wondered about this place but I now understand the hype. This place is amazing.

Food is so cheap and delicious for what you get. I honestly loved everything I got. Still can't get over how tasty the fried eggplant dish was.

I recommend coming as a group to try the most dishes you can. Good to book or or go later after the busy period otherwise you'll be waiting a while.

As it’s name Mr. Storm bowl, all the dishes come in stone bowls. You can enjoy hot food until last bite in stone bowls. The taste was amazing. We know that it’s famous, can’t book in advance, we came at 5pm. Luckily we got the table but we could see at least 50 people waiting outside. It’s really popular restaurant. Only have 90 minutes table time. The price is reasonable. We paid 240 dollars for 5 people. A

Mr. Stonebowl, a popular Chinese restaurant in Burwood, always draws long queues whenever we pass by. One Sunday lunch, we decided to try our luck and were pleasantly surprised to secure a table for two after only a short wait.

The new location boasts a comfortable and light-filled ambiance, with cozy seating arrangements. While the service is friendly, it leans more towards efficiency, with dishes arriving at fast-food speed. One standout dish was the Singapore-style whole barramundi, served piping hot in a stone pot with ample sauce. It offered a delightful hint of spiciness without overpowering the flavors, making it thoroughly enjoyable.

However, the Xiao long bao left much to be desired. The skins were prone to breaking, and the filling was a tad tough.

On the other hand, the congee was thick and generously filled. Despite consuming four bowls, we still had plenty left over.

Overall, Mr. Stonebowl offers exceptional value, with generous portions at an affordable price point. The comfortable setting and extensive variety of fusion and traditional dishes make it a satisfying choice to please your taste buds.

Very busy place that were quickly full on a Tuesday evening (~6 PM). It's very loud - you can't hear the background music. Despite this atmosphere, it appears to be favoured by elderly locals which is usually a good sign. Menu was somewhat different from classic options - it had some kind of twist. For example, I was surprised to see "sea urchin tofu". Overall, bang for the money with very generous portions. Recommend fried eggplant with sweet and sour sauce which tasted similar to soy sauce based fried Korean chicken. Xiao long bao's skin was too thick for our liking although filling/soup was good. Squid ink fried rice's flavour is very light so it may not be for you if you prefer more explosive flavours. Keen to try other options in the future.

Lovely ambience. Had a nice lunch here. Dishes were all delicious except for one. Special chasiu pork has overly sweet glazing. Xue wang was huge for the price. Generally this place has good value and creative Chinese menu. Chicken feet was excellent. Will be coming back to try other items if the queue is not huge. Got seated instantly Saturday noon. Would not arrive later as the line quickly build up.

This restaurant is always our top choice when we can't decide where to eat. To avoid long wait times, we suggest arriving between 5 pm and 5:30 pm.

Came here as recommended by my sister.

The food was really tasty, good portion and cheap.
We ordered 5 dishes for 4 people and it only costed $94.30

We ordered:
Caviar Abalone - tasty but small portion
Pan fried Pork Bun - tasty & juicy (must try)
Beef Ofal Noodle Soup
Singapore Style Barramundi - tasty, the fish is fresh (must try)
Pork Ribs in Salt Pepper - tasty (must try)

overall taste is 4/5
customer service is 4/5

this restaurant is really busy. if you come after 5 you will need to wait approximately 1 hour so it is better to come before 5 if want to come for dinner.

Definitely will come back again!!

The food here is delicious and it comes out fairly quickly as well. It gets quite busy and it doesn’t take long before a queue forms, so try to get there earlier. Service wise it’s average but you can’t really blame them considering how busy it is. Staff are polite and do their best. Portion sizes are good. The garlic prawns with squid ink rice is heaven.

I have been to the Mr Stonebowl in Eastwood a few times, and this is my first time having lunch here. I went with a friend and ordered the dishes shown in the photos, and both of us had a great time dinning in here.

I have posted our orders in one of the photos, and both my friend and I enjoyed all dishes. I like how they nicely presented yummy foods, and they tastes were even more pleasant. I would highly recommend the spicy fish soup, and the fried rice with seafood.

There staff were very friendly too, one girl came up to us and complemented on my watch, and we had a great chat on fashion and tattoo. Random but it was cute.

I am happy to give a 5 star review for my overall experience. The only thing I would recommend to improve is their bathroom. Not a big deal tho, I just feel it would be better if they have put the massive soup container somewhere else.

Smoke lamb chop with rosemary sauce was very juicy and flavourful as well as tears right off the bone

The deep fired egg plant in bread crumbs was so light but wasn’t to my personal liking

Service was so kind and efficient

Food was presented beautifully both plating and how the food was organised was amazing

Caviar abalone was a little too spicy and chewy for me but it was still delightful around the table

Pan fried pork was absolutely delectable and was definitely freshly made

Singapore style barramundi was bubbling hot and sweating deliciousness

Went in for lunch with friends. Had the Singapore style barramundi, fried eggplant, stir fried noodles, stir fried green beans and salt and pepper pork ribs. All dishes tasted amazing and had great taste and texture. The flavours were all spot on and I couldn’t fault any of it. Service was friendly and food was very affordable also. This place is definitely a hidden gem in Burwood.

Always been craving to eat yummy fish and finally found it here! We were even surprised that it was not expensive even if it's a massive size! The service was also good even though there was a bit of a long line but once you get inside and order your desired food, they will serve them to you pretty quick! The fastest restaurant when it comes to serving food! I also love their pan-fried dumplings!💞😍 Xiang Long Bao is also a must-try!

A friend suggested this place and we came here for dinner.
I was told that this place always has insane queue. We got there at 5 and were seated right away. Shortly after I noticed there was about 20 people waiting outside, so we were lucky and made it right before it got busy.
Service was fast for us. Everything came out after max 15 minutes I’d say.
Dinner for two with 4 dishes and drinks comes to about $54. Insanely cheap and good portions.
I couldn’t be more happy. Fish in the soup was fresh. The buns were so tasty and juicy. Fried rice with abalone was just perfectly seasoned.
Definitely recommend and will be back.

Overall was great and worth for waiting.
Xiao Long Bao was good but not the original South China flavor. But still much different from the instant one from the supermarket. Butterfly sauce fried rice wasn’t fried rice. It's steamed with the sauce and veggies/meats. Lambchop was too oily and not smokey at all(doesn't fit their description)
would still come back if around.

I ordered the foods below and every one of them is perfect, especially the spicy beef soup that had extremely soft and tender beef in it. Service was average but still good. Would definitely come again!

My friend and I eat out a lot at Burwood, and Mr Stonebowl did not fail us! Out of all the dishes that night, my favourite was the abalone, truffle fried rice claypot bowl. The abalone was super soft and the fried rice was well seasoned! We would go back to try other dishes.
The other one that stood out was the deep fried milk rolls. The batter was crispy, fluffy and light on taking a bite and the slightly sweet milk inside was soft and delicious, a stark contrast in texture in a very pleasant way!

I’ve been here over 10 times and the food portions are amazing. Best value ever. Have to try the xiao long bao and Singaporean style barramundi. Very quick service and very approachable staff. Well managed and good food.
