Thai Garn

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Thai Garn, an enchanting restaurant that promises an authentic taste of Thailand right from the first bite. The standout dish of the evening was undoubtedly the Gai Khaa (Galangal, chicken, with coconut cream, lemon grass, mushrooms and shallots). It was perfectly cooked and each spoonful was a reminder of the dish's storied street food origins, yet elevated to gourmet standards.

The aroma in Thai Garn is an intoxicating preamble to the meal itself. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted by the fragrant embrace of lemongrass and basil, mingling with the more robust scents of garlic and coconut milk simmering away.

Freshness is a cornerstone of Thai cuisine, and it was evident in the meal I had. Each component tasted as if it had just been plucked from the garden before cooking. The dish was punctuated by fresh galangal and lemon grass, and the mushrooms were full flavoured, creating a refreshing and slightly fiery symphony of flavors that was both invigorating and satisfying.

Ending the meal, the Khao Neaw Kow, a white sticky rice with Thai custard served as a sweet encore to an already delightful dining experience. The custard was exquisitely sweet and paired perfectly with the warm, slightly salty sticky rice. Each bite was a harmonious blend of texture and taste, a fitting finale to a meal that celebrated the great taste, aroma, and freshness of Thai cuisine at its best. Thai Garn not only serves food; it offers a culinary journey through Thailand, ensuring you leave with both a satisfied palate and a yearning to return.

I highly recommend this restaurant.

We had dinner here on a Sunday night with no reservation and we were very happy to be welcomed to the window seat. Was able to byo. Recommended to us by some Summer Hill locals who love Thai food and said this was the best you can get in Sydney, which we thought the food quality was exceptional. Lovely service and attention from the server with friendly consideration during our meal.
Will be back again. Only small feedback was the door kept staying open and was a bit chilly.

As a party of 10 we have been coming here every Easter for the past few years. This restaurant is always an amazing atmosphere and it's employees are always very friendly. The food is always out quickly and is absolutely delicious every time, always catering to each of our needs.
We will definitely continue coming and look forward to next year's dinner. :)

The best Thai restaurant in Summer Hill. Everything we had in the place was always on point. The quality and service were fantastic, very friendly and efficient. They offer complimentary prawn crackers if you are dining in, and I can assure you they are very tasty! I can’t pick a favourite dish from this place, but definitely get the money bags and satay chicken for entree, some curry or stir fry, and pad thai. 👌

Fantastic hidden little gem in Summer Hill, we have came every Easter Sunday since 2017 as we come to the Easter Show with our Alpaca Show Team. The Thai Garn team are also so patient with the amount of people we have and let us use as many tables as we need. We appreciate them so much and the food is absolutely Devine. I like to try something new every year whereas some of the others like to get the same meal every time because it’s too good not to get! Thank you guys so much! ❤

Always love coming here! Always so friendly and welcoming, very personable people working there are always so warm and sweet. Sandy particularly is a major consistent highlight of going here, I can’t recommend enough! Really love this place, feels a bit like stopping in to see friends or family whether i dine in or get take out xxx

Best thai restaurant in the area. The food is delicious and the staff are so friendly. I have been going to Thai Garn for more than 10 years and recomment it to everyone.
We recently had a Christmas party for 50 friends and it was a fabulous night. With some pre planning we were not stuck with a set menu. We will come again.

I can say this is the best Thai restaurant in summer hill. Feeling like having dinner at home. Good service and warm welcoming hospitality. Pad see ew and Kana moo grob is my favorite! I will come here again ! <3 Thai foods

I just want to say thank you for the free snacks (prawn cracker right?) in my delivery. Literally it’s my first time receiving a gift since I have used Uber Eats. Btw, the portion of coconut rice is great. I ordered small one but it’s more than I expected. Thanks for your delicious food and small bonus. I appreciate it! 🥰

My absolute favourite Thai to get. They never skimp on flavour and it is consistently good every time. Amazing kind staff as well and lots of options on the menu.

Ordered delivery of the Stir Fry Pad Pak (just vegetable) and was very happy with it! Not filled with onion and carrot like some places do with their veg servings. Thai Garn's dish was everything I was hoping for tonight. ขอบคุณ

This is the greatest place! We love coming here and come a couple of times per month on average. The owners know us and know our order. They are so generous with their portion and prices. They gave away free food during covid. At Christmas they gave away free gifts.

Such lovely people and incredible food! Please come! Choose this place over others in Summer Hill. Make it your home.

Food is well presented and good quality - what you’d expect for Thai food - good chicken Pad See Ew - service is very good, I often come with a big group of people and the staff is more than accommodating to us, that’s a big plus.
