Moorland Cottage Cafe - Best Scones On The Coast

This is our usual stop when travelling from the Hunter Valley up north along the coast. We love it and are never disappointed. Friendly staff and chickens. The yard is amazing with so much to look at . We love it. Highly recommend this place to stop.

Great place to have something special especially during hot days. We had a couple of amazing cottage pieces and enjoyed an air-conditioned room. Nice small souvenir shop with perfect gifts for Xmas 🎁🎄

Definitely the best scones on the coast, if not the country. It's such a lovely place for a stop. It can get quite busy with limited tables. The staff are all friendly and helpful. The new owners are very knowledgeable of the area and are happy to have a chat. Beautiful gardens to sit in. Outdoor and indoor seating. Recommend to all heading up or down the coast to stop in for a lovely bit. We will be back next time we are travelling through that way.

Well worth the slight detour off the highway. Excellent food, beautiful relaxing gardens with added bonus of lovely chickens exploring the gardens.

A lovely cafe with a beautiful setting surrounded by flowers and a grand Jakaranda tree. The food was delicious and the staff were friendly and efficient. We went in early spring, this place would be even more beautiful when the Jakaranda are in bloom.

Quaint Cafe in the middle of nowhere! Best part on a nice day is dining in the country garden out the back with stunning friendly chickens roaming underfoot and farm animals over the fence. Big shade trees give a peaceful spot to sit and enjoy a tasty meal. Scones, jam, and cream are the best. Recommend a visit, especially on a nice day. Can be extremely busy so allow time.

I love that they have a good range of vegan offerings. Had the Moroccan stew and it was super tasty and filling.

A beautiful place to stop for morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea! Quirky back garden with tables set under the trees and hens and chicks wandering through or a lovely indoor space. The menu was varied with choices to suit anyone and the best scones ever!! We will definitely return!

This place is so welcoming and feels like you are in a friend's backyard.
With chickens roaming free, the most friendly cat who love lots of pats.
We had the best scones they were light and fluffy, delicious home made jam and fresh whipped cream.

We dropped in after seeing great reviews on FB. Plenty of space and heaps of seating outside (we had our 3 small dogs with us). Food was great. Service was also great. Loved the chickens clucking about that all looked well loved and were friendly. Lovely spot to stop. Well worth popping in if your driving past.

The only thing better than the date scones with jam and cream we had today, was the Moorland Cottage staff! When they came out with the tray laden with our tea things, they were as welcoming as the cool breeze that defied the heatwave. The rooster and chickens emerged from their cool hiding spots, and it felt like we were having afternoon tea in a friend’s peaceful garden. Highly recommend.

Wouldn’t have known this cute little spot existed if it weren’t for a friend who knew the area and recommended it. Really lived up to expectations. The scones were delicious and I ordered the ‘Mia special’ pie which I’d highly recommend. Friendly service and a really lovely dining room with plenty of country charm. But a personal favourite element was the friendly chooks roaming around

Moorland Cottage is one of the few venues worth making a trip with two toddlers for. The team is always accommodating and go out of their way to make me, my fellow mum friends, and our little people (ages 4 down) feel welcome. My only issue when I go is trying to decide what to eat since it's all so delicious!

Relaxing little stop straight off the highway with delicious scones!! Great to also have dairy/gluten free menu items too! The DF/GF apple and rhubarb cake was delicious!! Tables are scattered around the rustic property with plenty of sun, shade or indoor seating. We especially loved the free roaming chickens and seeing the staff pick fresh garnishes straight from the garden! Will definitely visit again and try the big selection of cottage pies!

Beautiful cafe with a great atmosphere!! We love coming here with our kids! The staff are so lovely and friendly and the food is delicious! I love that there are GF options including GF scones which are light and fluffy still, I didn’t know that was possible! Prices are fair too. Can’t wait for our next visit!

I ordered the mini lamb pie and salad, followed by their homemade scones with jam and cream...all delicious.

Love this place!! I plan my trips south from Coffs to Syd on the days they're open, and stop here EVERY time. I'm sure everything on the menu is delicious, but I just can't drag myself away from these choices to try anything else; pulled lamb cottage pie, coffee, scone with jam & cream. So yum

Late Brunch was well worth the stop off, only 100m off the expressway.
We are regulars for the last year, when driving to Sydney or back to Qld.

Food and deserts are really wholesome and delicious!

Fantastic for kids, with beautiful chickens roaming freely around all the outside tables. See pictures.

The outside is large and roomy, and is naturally very peaceful and beautiful.

There are tables in the sun or under huge shady trees.

Service was quick, and pleasing.

The Big breakfast was great value, and my puppy helped with my sausages I could not fit in.
The Bacon and egg roll was also yummy my wife said.

Milkshakes and Cappuccino were also big.

Overall, a great place to refresh from driving.
