My recent stay at here was nothing short of fantastic. Nestled in a picturesque setting, this campsite is a true gem for nature enthusiasts. One of its most striking features is the large sand dune that serves as a gateway to a stunning beach. Hiking over this dune to reach the beach was an exhilarating experience, offering both a sense of adventure and breathtaking views.

The campsite itself is spacious and incredibly well-maintained, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The ranger have done an excellent job in preserving the natural beauty of the area while providing the necessary amenities for a pleasant camping experience.

Whether you’re looking to unwind in a serene environment or seeking an adventurous hike to the beach, it delivers on all fronts. I highly recommend this campsite to anyone looking for a beautiful and peaceful getaway.

Secluded 10 camping spot.
Site 7 the smallest one of about 5m on 5m all sites with fire pits and lots of shade. The beach is about 10min walk through very white tranquil solid sand dunes. The current is very rough though for swimming or fishing but good for a plunge as long as you are not going too deep.

We arrived here at night and had to book online on the nsw national parks sight. As we were driving in we immediately spotted two dingos. They were not harmful. They looked at us and continued on their way. There was only one other van and us during the night. It was quiet and peaceful and all you could here was the splashing of the waves at shore. The best surprise was in the morning. We woke up to a nice beautiful green area surrounded with trees. There was a public toliet but there was no water in the sink. We walked closer to the sound of the waves we heard and found the beautiful beach surrounded with sand dunes!! It was a marvelous view and something unexpected. A very nice place indeed. Would surely go here again.

Superb spot located right next to expansive and impressive sand dunes.

Plenty of wildlife around - a local family of dingoes around who seem very relaxed (Hide your eskies at night and don't feed them).

Many birds of prey nearby gliding around from the top of the dunes, also a cheeky goanna or two.

Fire pits, clean pitties, water for hand washing. All ya need.

Shall return.

Cheers Stewart & Lloyd.

Very impressed!! Probably the best camp site Along Mungo Brush Rd. I was only out to plan my next camping trip and this is where it'll be for sure. Great facilities, lots of room, well protected and a perfect spot at the top of the sand dune to watch the stars of an evening. Couldn't ask for anything more!

Excellent campsite.

Limited facilities, no water or rubbish removal but toilet blocks.
Great shade from the canopy meant it stayed quite cool. Quite a walk, over the dunes, to the beach. Approx 10 mins

Highly recommend

This campground is beautiful. It's shady because of nice gum trees around. Firepits with cooking options. Bring own firewood! There is a big friendly lizard living there and some curious turkeys. The beach is not easily accessible due to the big dunes. They look amazing though.

Absolutely wonderful camp grounds, right at the base of the sand dunes, one of the most beautiful places I've been in my entire life! Just be careful of the dingos, they'll come after any food you have on your grounds (even if its packed away in eskies) and they'll make a mess of everything! Otherwise its an absolutely perfect place to camp :)

Camp by a beach to relax and sleep to waves. Every idiot here has a Bluetooth speaker & is a DJ.

Edit: I’ve camped here many times over the years, the morning and night sunsets over the dunes always take my breath away. Have spent hours walking out onto the dunes getting lost and relaxing. It’s the best spot in the area.

Come prepared for mosquitoes
Keep your food locked in your car
Bring plenty of water and a rubbish bag

Camp with dingos! The place is awesome, among trees, the way to the beach through the sand dunes it's so beautiful, and the beach is amazing we had it for ourselves for two days. How good is that!
There's dry toilet, no drinkable water tap and firepit.
Wanna come back!!

Had just one night here. By myself. Were nobody there. Well, a couple of brush-turkeys making noises around me.
Nice little campground protected by trees and just behind sand dunes.

Enjoyed an amazing sunset from the sand dunes and lighted up a fire. Nice place, quiet night, just the sound of the waves. Exactly what i looking for when i go camping.

Beautiful spot under the shade of the gumtrees. Layout and limited spaces allows for a private and cossy camping amongst the bush. Toilet only with byo timber for fires. National park rates very fair. Roughly a 0.5km walk to the beach, a walk up the initial dune provides for a great 360 view.

Went here on new years where you could watch fire works in the main towns to the north and south from atop the main dune. Magical experience, would definitely recommend / do again

Wow Wow Wow! What a spot to camp. Arrive at the campground ground. Pick a spot.. Walk around the campground and notice the 20ft high sand dune. Wait what!? Yes! Make your way up and you see the sea at the end of the dunes. We start walking towards the sea, many minutes later we arrive at the beautiful Hawk's Nest Beach. Few 4wd and even fewer people. Can't believe how close this spot is to Sydney. Highly recommend climbing up the dunes after 10pm on a clear night. One of the most starry night of your life awaits!

facilities : eco toilet x 1, no drinking water. Nothing else
Its a beautiful campsite. Next sand dunes but campsites under tall trees.
Beach access walkable but atleast ~500-700 meters of walk through sand.
Dangerous to go swimming at the beach.
Brush turkey, iguana, and dingos are frequently seen.
So keep your food pack
Fire pits available.
No advance booking required, fees collected by friendly park rangers.

This campsite was absolutely perfect, equipped with your own fire pit, shelter under the trees right by the sand dunes and then over to the beach which was pretty much all to ourselves, wild dingos that didn’t bother us and were rather cute! We can’t wait to come back to this beautiful spot
