I love this place so much! There wlare so many nooks and crannies here with spectacular views of the ocean. A shame that many areas were fenced off and there was graffiti but I'm still grateful that I could walk around certain areas. Defiantly a place to visit in the Balmoral area - its not a hard walk to get to. Family friendly l.

Great to explore, kids loved looking around, need to keep close watch of children as there are no railings or fences at the cliff edge. Great view of the harbour

Beautiful location with an interesting history. Easy short walks for some gorgeous views and fun to see all the sandstone works. Well maintained and safe.

Great spot to relax and see Balmoral beach, Manly and North head from across the beautiful harbour waters. Watch the ferries and boats navigate the harbour. Check out the old war bunkers and walk around the little paths to green grass areas. The cliff edges are exposed so be careful if you have kids

If you want spectacular views of the harbour mouth, North Head, Manly and Watson's Bay, this place is worth a visit. Great spot for a picnic too if you're no stranger to the headland breeze!

This place is a hidden gem that need more volunteers and Government or philanthropy funding. The views of the ocean and ships / ferries and yacht races are absolutely breathtaking. Wonderful place for a picnic, romantic for couples and delightful for a family adventure. We were fortunate to have a volunteer to take us on a mystery journey throughout the tunnels and underground bunkers - not for the fearful or faint of heart - but a super mysterious tour indeed.

A fascinating part of Sydney’s history. From 1801 to the mid 1970’s at the end of the Vietnam war, Muddle ahead was an active military base. The military moved out the in the 90’s and the property was handed over to the Harbour Trust. Parts are also part of Sydney Harbour National Park. There are km of walking tracks both through the bush and around the old base. Plus some stunning harbour views.

Some beautiful views to see and a pleasant walk around the circuit, romantic place to go, it's really a hidden gem - the views definitely make it difficult to think of the war time - but what remains of the battery is still enjoyable to explore. Just a shame there isn't any info plaques on the history!

Everyone should visit this area to take in some of the World War history, great for children to run around but be mindful of the cliffs.
Panoramic views looking across to Eastern Suburbs and to Manly.
