The Lounge Salon Ballina

Let me tell you a little story, once upon a time there was a fussy, very fussy young lady who was so particular with her hair that she would go without, then to risk a stuff up with her hair. Then one day, after discussing the failures of previous hair cuts, a work colleague recommended The Lounge Salon in Ballina. Keep in mind, this young lady, is now, after quite a few decades, an old and a proud granny and guess what? She has finally hit the jackpot with a selection of hairdressers.

Let me tell you about my recent experience. A school apprentice has been employed by Vicki, (the best hair cutter in the world by the way,) and I was asked if I would allow Sophie to practice washing my hair. I of course accepted, as I love young people trying to have a crack in the workforce.

Sophie was okay, she had a wonderful team educating her on how and why and showing her techniques. This lady was a wee bit shy and didn't really have a lot of confidence, but hey, it's her first ever job, and new to being employed right. So it's expected she'd be a little nervous.

I came back each week for several weeks and noticed improvements each time. For example, Sophie's communication skills were improving as well her technique. After a little while, I asked Vicki if Sophie would want to colour my hair for practice. (Couldn't be any worse than my dodgy home jobs right?) The following week, Sophie had her first go at colouring the roots of my hair. Sophie was a little slow, but this was her first time, Vicki was on one half of my hair, and Sophie was there on the other side.

Anyway, life gets busy and my work hours changed, and I couldn't make it for my weekly hair wash for a bit. Some time had gone by and I realized I needed another root touch up. So made the call to see when Sophie was available and made that appointment.

Oh my goodness, what a TRANSFORMATION. I came into the salon to find a confident and efficient hairdresser. (Just note, that this young teenager hasn't even been a school apprentice for 6 months yet.) Sophie, put the colour on my roots methodically, and rather quickly I might add, washed my hair in a manner that took my breath away, then proceeded to blow dry my hair straight. (Did not use a straightening iron, actually miraculously straightened my with the techniques she was taught with an actual dryer.)

My appointment was at 9am, I walked out of there at 11.15am. It started with a consult, mixing the colour, putting the colour in my hair, processing time, then blending it through, washing it out, (And lets not forget the incredible head massage) and drying my curly hair straight. That's pretty good time management from not only someone so young, but also new to the field.

Sophie was impressive and it's going to be a joy to continue to have her service my hair.

The apprentice Sophie has cut my hair 3 times now, she has done wonderful each time and continues to improve her skills. Would highly recommend her to anyone.

Always a good time at the Lounge! Vikki has made me stop traffic with my hair. Mainly because I’m feeling so confident and fresh after, I walk onto the road spinning so commuters can marvel at the new me. She has also given me great beard tips (for my mum) and told me how to look after my skin. I walked into the barber’s chair a boy and left it a man.

Thank you, Vikki and her little helper who makes the drinks I always forget to drink.

Been going to The Lounge for a while, and always very happy with my 'do'. Had a new hairdresser on the weekend, and boy, did she do a fab cut - SOOO happy, really easy to manage and perfect for summer. Thanks Crystal!

I was recommended to go to The Lounge Salon in Ballina by a work colleague. I decided to give it a crack and we both booked in to get a hair pamper.

I had not had my hair cut for so long and to be honest, my hair was in that much neglect it was the true definition of a train wreck. You know those days where you just roll and tie your hair up because it's just easier to deal with? Yes, well that was me, not just on bad hair days so to speak, but every day.

The service was exceptional, the staff warmly greeted me and offered me a hot beverage before it was even my turn for the appointment. My hairdresser was attentive to my needs and went that extra mile for me. What was also impressive was they had a young high school girl learning the ropes as a school apprentice (?) The way my hairdresser was explaining each process was awesome, even I was learning.

In the end, my hair not only looked spectacular but felt so luscious, I just couldn't help but touch it constantly for the rest of the day. I walked away with some shampoo and conditioner and was just tickle pink about my experience. But wait.... there's more....

As I had my hair straightened, I was taking so much care not to get my hair wet for at least a week otherwise my hair spring back to being curly. Let me add here that was quite a task considering it was constantly raining. Anyway, doing some renovations at home and decided to get in to do some spray painting. What I forgot to do was cover my head. I had the goggles and special mask on, but did I think about my hair? Nope!!!! My hair ended up being whiter than snow, the spray particles thought my nicely straightened hair could do with some colour.

Needless to say, I had to wash my hair. Oh my goodness! This shampoo and conditioner was phenomenal. When I woke up the next morning, my hair felt like it had been washed at the salon. The texture, the bounce, the smell. I couldn't believe it, it was a WOWfactor moment. I've never washed my hair at home and had that result previously. It was actual better than Olaplex, for those of you familiar with Olaplex you know that's a big call, but an accurate one.

Always feel welcome, Vicky listens and gives realistic, honest feedback of what we can achieve. She understands curls perfectly, best hairdresser I’ve ever had that can work with curly hair and help decide what would work with my curls.

Wonderful places to get a haircut. Well priced for the experience and service. Vicki is so knowledgable and skilled. I bought some products off her and they have changed the way my hair looks! I will be a regular at this salon from now on.
