Old Quarter Coffee Merchants - Cafe

Well worth the detour on our road trip south from Brisbane. Situated in the industrial part of Ballina, this roastery is a winner. The coffee has beautiful rich flavours which lingers long after the last sip. They also have some great snacks in the cabinet. Service is professional, prompt & friendly

We stopped in at the Ballina cafe for drinks after reading Google reviews. We did not have any food as we didn’t have time so I can’t comment. Other people’s food did look nice however.

As a self confessed coffee nerd I will say the coffee is very good. The Single Origin as a espresso was excellent. I thoroughly recommend the coffee here.

The staff were genuinely into their coffee and provided me with ample information to get me going on espresso with the beans I purchased. Having now made coffee from these, I have enjoyed it and will purchase more.

My family and I are up from Sydney visiting family and staying in Ballina. Found this amazing coffee spot and have been coming every morning to get my daily dose before we head out for the day. So glad I found it. Such a great brew and great vibe and hang out.

Stopped by on the way to Gold Coast for a break, love the exterior and interior inside out, industrial but warm and welcoming atmosphere, very good place to take photos.

ordered 3 wraps and 2 flat white. The wraps were amazing, never had wrap with stuffing with that texture (omelette?), mushroom mixed with other magic ingredients gave my tastebuds a blast for sure. Beans of the day was from Myanmar (PA'O), it had added milk so can't tell how good it was for brewing espresso but I did taste something special in it, the flat white drink was definitely the best along the route from Sydney up till Ballina so far.

Will definitely stop again whenever driving pass Ballina ;-)

This is our favourite little cafe in Ballina.
The staff are always friendly and accomodating.
(I dropped my coffee and it was immediately replaced without question).
I love that we can take our dog and there are different options of where to sit inside and out.
The food is consistently good and reasonably priced and locally sourced where possible.
The coffee is the best around and is sustainably and ethically sourced.
Do yourself a favour and swing by this local cafe in the Ballina industrial estate. You won’t be sorry.

I’ve been here quite a few times and the coffee is lovely and the food is really yummy. They have a lot of nice blends and I’ve even bought some beans for myself. Whenever I’m nearby I always try and stop in for a coffee as the staff are always very welcoming and the coffee is great!

Great coffee. Yummy food. Friendly service. I asked to buy some coffee beans and Sierra went above and beyond to ensure the beans were to my taste. I also loved the atmosphere of the cafe. Will be coming back!

I can't get over how delicious these coffees are... plus it makes it even better knowing they source their organic coffee beans directly from the farmers (cutting out the middleman and paying farmers a fair/living wage). Win Win Win! Oh and I love that they hand roast their Direct Trade beans right here in Australia (in Ballina, NSW - definitely worth a visit if you're nearby :)). I've learnt so much from these guys already not only about how my daily coffee choices matter, but also about how I should be preparing my coffee for the bestest tasting cup at home. Love love love what you're doing guys, keep up the fabulous work!!!
