Rick Stein at Bannisters

It was hands down the best restaurant experience I have ever had. The attentive wait staff from the moment we walked in were so impressive. The menu was elegant and not overwhelming. The produce used for the menu was first class and we have absolutely nothing to complain about. The added bonus was the knowledgeable wait staff, they never missed a beat when asked a question and there recommendations and suggestions where very much appreciated and without a doubt worth choosing. I can not fault my amazing experience at Rick Stien last night and can’t wait for my friends and family to experience what I got to last night…pure indulgence and sophisticated dining.

We thoroughly enjoyed our food on a Monday evening. The restaurant was not full, the staff were welcoming & the service was excellent. The portions were generous & reasonably priced. The venue is in a gorgeous location, with many tables offering spectacular coastal views. We especially liked that although there is a banner name owner/chef, it was not the least bit pretentious.

Thank you to all the staff at Rick Stein's for making my Mum's 60th birthday very special. The staff were lovely, attentive and friendly. The food was amazing, every single dish was incredible. We were so full we didn't order dessert, and the kitchen staff still sent out a plate with a 'happy birthday' message for my Mum and some delicious bite site treats. Thank you so much, it was fantastic, we will definitely come back again.

Fabulous fabulous and fabulous. So so good. A real dining experience. If I could give 7 stars, I would. The food was exceptional, the waiter staff were on point and the setting superb. Nearly all menu items could be adapted to dietary requirements (without any issues). We are gluten free and could eat nearly everything on the menu. Thoroughly recommend Bannisters.

We came to Mollymook on our Honeymoon with our main attraction being, Rick Steins at Bannisters. It did not disappoint. We left there feeling so full of delicious food and wine, and the staff were just lovely. It was worth every penny for a special night 🩷

Food was perfect and the prices are reasonable compared with other hotel restaurants and fine dining. Lobster was incredible, shellfish plate delicious. Peach dessert - we should have got one each! YUM We went twice in the week and loved it both times. Paloma cocktail was great too. Lovely experience can’t wait to go back.

We had a lovely time tonight for dinner! no special occasion just a date night, we had a voucher sitting in a drawer that was given to us as a gift a while ago and decided to finally use it. Sat on the balcony I wish I had of asked our servers name, as he took the time to as ours. Felt very looked after the whole time and really enjoyed the food! The grilled octopus was the softest octopus I have ever had. The seafood curry was nice but not outstanding, very strong lemongrass and overpowered with lime a little bit sour for my taste but the green beans had a very authentic Indonesian taste. The front of house team were the stand out feature for me personally as everyone was so friendly, smiling and relaxed. We are Shoalhaven locals and will be back !

Wonderful experience.

The food and wine is delightful. The team are wonderful and attentive here. It’s also an eclectic mix of people which lends itself to wonderful people watching.

Fish and chips - was mentioned as one of the most popular dishes. Wasn’t see why. The batter was incredible, the fish melted in your mouth and the chips delicious with a light crisp.

Sashimi - wonderful and lovely dish that helped refresh the palate. Fresh and good sized portions.

Coconut king prawn - lovely crumbed coating on it.

Also had the scallops. The hazelnut and coriander butter was incredible and mopped up nicely by the complimentary sourdough.

Amazing experience! Exquisite seafood is so fresh and delicious .We enjoyed every morsel of food from starters to dessert. Impeccable and friendly service from the person who attended to us. Great foodie experience. Definitely, we will be back again to try the rest of the menu.

Amazing food! Everything was perfect. I am a huge Rick Stein fan and decided to treat myself for my birthday. I brought my five year old daughter and she was happily accommodated for (but it’s not a restaurant for kids, really!) The staff members were all terrific, every dish was amazing. The only thing that wasn’t 100% awesome was the 15% Sunday surcharge, as the food is already pricey. If you go, treat yourself to the lobster. You only live once!!

Adele was an amazing server who ensured that my husband and I were pleased at all times. The octopus was to die for, and the snapper with mango was delicious too! The chips and broccolini could have used some extra salt, but otherwise it was an enjoyable meal.

We had dinner last night to celebrate my wife's 40th birthday. We arrived early and was asked to wait at the pool bar which is fantastic and has lovely views

When we got our table our waiter was sharp and quick.

Our food was superb. We ordered the scallops, sashimi, Indonesian seafood curry and steamed snapper with ginger shallot. Everything was cooked perfectly and was absolutely delicious. The prices were also reasonable considering the pedigree of the restaurant.

I would highly recommend coming to Rick Steins if you are in Mollymook. You won't be disappointed.

We went there for dinner to celebrate a 70th birthday! And we had such a lovely night.
Our waiter was Andrew, and he was great! He made sure we were having a good time giving us a really good service and he was very polite. The food had a nice combination of flavours. I tried a little bit of the soup and mussels and, I really liked. The mussel had a combination of curry that was delicious. My entree was the ceviche, and it was great, a little bit tangy. The fish was great. As a main, I had the mahi mahi fish. The combination with the sauce and the mango pieces with the fish was tasty. Also, I had a few bites from the steak, and it was super tender. The seasoning was perfect, giving the meat a really good flavour. Great quality. My dessert was Hazelnut and Chocolate Dacquoise with praline ice cream, incredible together. Overall, it was such a nice experience.

Celebrating my birthday without Valentines made it extra special. A first in many years.

We had such a special night for our anniversary, the food was amazing and the service. Thank you to everyone for making it so special. Only regret was not leaving enough space for dessert.

The food and warm service were outstanding. We can’t remember the last time we dined out and both agreed, it was the perfect night! We could not fault anything about our experience and are so glad we finally had an opportunity to dine at your restaurant!

First time visitors and couldn’t fault a thing. Food, Service and Ambience 5 Star - impeccable. The entire visit topped only by the appearance of Rick Stein himself!!! Perfect!

Being a Rick Stein fan for many years, I decided to try his Rick Stein at Bannisters in Mollymook NSW with a couple of friends . We’re from Melbourne, so it was a bit of a trip. We stayed in Mollymook for a few days to make it worthwhile. Beautiful part of Australia.
The restaurant is positioned right on the sea, lovely view over the water. Lovely atmosphere, kind of old school with soft background music, carpeted floor, well spaced tables, perfect lighting.
Attentive friendly staff, not over the top. I had an entree of mussels in a chilli and coconut jus, steamed to perfection, plump and juicy. One of my friends had a fennel and pea risotto which was delicious, subtle flavour and cooked perfectly. Two of us had lobster Thermidore, a real indulgence I don’t normally do to a lobster but again perfectly cooked in a creamy sauce. My other friend had seared tuna with salsa verde. She said it was delicious. Dessert was sticky date pudding and crème brûlée, followed by cognac and coffee. Good wine list and cocktails. The experience was worth it, not cheap as we knew, but not outrageous at all. The only criticism I would have is that 8 dollars for a natural oyster, and 9 dollars for a scallop is taking the p…, but I didn’t have to eat them. Highly recommend the experience.
