A beautiful memorial that I think looks it’s best at night time with the green lights lighting up the canopy. Definitely worth a look after dark. Lots of information boards along the street explaining Barcaldine’s history.

I'd prefer to have seen the tree before it was poisoned, but this is a great memorial that reminds us that good can and does defeat evil!

It's a great part of Australia's history and is part of our genetic make up.
But was surprised it is at the train station entrance. Also the main street is full of pubs - typical.

Absolutely stunning, shame we didn't see it at night, but the afternoon sun lit the T
Timber up nicely.

Nice place to stop for some Australian history. Toilets and water close by and right at the train stop. Tables covered by trees very close and made a great place for a lunch stop out of the heat and sun.

An amazing view to the history that formed a political party. I won’t spoil it, check it out! The contributors to this magic sculpture and protection of the tree, need applauding. The entire area is filled with modern reflections on historical events, that while not necessarily great by todays standards, certainly shaped our country.

Got to show the kids some real history of the tree of knowledge, they loved it and are sad the tree was killed, they got to see it for really and the enclosure made for it, such a brilliant piece of history for the family and the country of Australia. Well done to the council for maintaining it so well.

You could stand here and just take it in for a very long time. It's a beautifully done memorial. It's worth going at night too, to see it lit up!

Incredibly beautiful memorial placed at this site. The information panels cover the history of the strike and the development of the Labor movement and the construction of the monument itself.

An amazing bit of sculpture, once you realise what it actually represents (the shape of the tree before some demented individual poisoned it in 2016 & killed it).
Interesting history in relation to its links with the Australian labour & union movements and, especially, the Shearers Strike of 1891.

Barcaldine is a beautiful little town with the Tree of Knowledge in the middle of the main street. An integral part of Australian History. Definately worth seeing . Free parking along street and toilets close by. It's on flat surface so accessible for everyone

This modern representation of the famous Tree of Knowledge replaces the original one that some thoughtless person/s took upon themselves to poison. The original tree and location represents a significant point in Australia's political history being that the beginning of the Australian Labor Party. I take my hat off to the strong men that stood up for their rights against overwhelming odds during the shearers strike and poor working conditions they endured.

Interesting history and awesome work of art surrounding the tree. Definitely a must stop. Also check out the old windmill next door.

Great peace of art and idea! Executed beautifully, must stop and see if you are near by. 🌳 has infinite knowledge to share but it is up to be wise with what we do with it.
