Wanderers Retreat Port Stephens

Delightful stay at Wanderer's Retreat for the weekend. Five minutes walk to gorgeous One Mile beach, the cute, clean cabin is nestled in the bush with loads of birds and wildlife. Loved sitting the outdoors hot spa at sunset! Antony is a very pleasant, relaxed and thoughtful host who attended to anything we needed. Will definitely visit again.

My gfs and I stayed here as part of our Tomaree Coastal walk multi day hike. We used the wanderers as a base and we could not have been more thrilled (walking from shoal bay to one mile on day one and then Anna bay to one mile on day two). The cabin was cozy, had everything we needed (and more, incl wildlife) and we had the luxury of an outdoor spa and a lovely pool. Antony is an excellent host who happily gave us tips for the walk and guided us to the starting point on both days. He and his family are doing a wonderful job and this place is a gem surrounded In nature. Also, it’s a 2 min walk from the beach with a spar grocer, restaurants/cafes and tourist towns nearby. Loved our stay at Wanderers Retreat. The facilities were great and well maintained, and the location was excellent.

Contrary to the other reviews here, the WIFI has been fixed and the facilities are in the middle of being upgraded. We had no issues with internet access.

Yes, there were Mosquitos, but it's a nature retreat - insects are expected. Our host provided us with repellant even though we brought our own.

I loved the spa outside of our room, and the 10 minute walk to the beach. Our host was really helpful and cared about our experience. Just an all-round great experience, and I'm looking forward to our next stay there. Thoroughly recommended!

Absolutely perfect relaxing getaway! We had stayed here 3 years ago when the old owners ran the retreat and weren't sure if we should come back as whilst the location and retreat was perfect the old owner was a drill sargent which put a dampener on our stay. However I'm so glad we re-booked for our wedding anniversary as the old owner sold and the new owner Antony is the complete opposite! He was so polite and relaxed and welcomed us at check in and then let us be so we could relax 😌 Since Antony has taken over all of the reviews have been 5 star! That speaks for itself 🙌
The retreat is so tranquil and peaceful, the self contained cabins are clean and cosy, the git tubs are huge and kept clean and warm always, the retreat pool is bliss and usually you have the whole pool to yourself, the location is within walking distance to the beach and only a short drive from Nelson's Bay with so many holiday activities and resteraunts etc. I highly recommend this retreat to new and past visitors! Can't wait to come back again soon!

We stayed at the Wanderers Eco Retreat as a spontaneous night away, to test out a mini holiday with our 6 month old Bub.
The hosts of the park were more than accomodating to bubs needs and our own, with complimentary champagne and chocolate on arrival as part of our package.
Our tree house room featured an indoor spa, dining area inside and out as well as a mini kitchen and bbq.
We had a huge window to watch the trees from as we laid in bed, a cot provided for our Bub and insect repellant for the mozzies which weren’t over whelming at all.
The amenities were clean, we especially enjoyed the robes and eye masks.
The pool was refreshing, well shaded and clean - no green water, plus it was great to be able to sit by the side and read a book.
If we weren’t sat by the pool, we were sat on the verandah, under the shade of the trees, watching the trees blow in the wind and feeding possums.
We loved our trip away, albeit for only a night and will be back again!

Incredible location, short walk to beautiful one mile beach! Great for couples getaway as the cottage in the trees was so quiet and peaceful. Just finished a 4 night stay, Highly recommend this accommodation.

3 day getaway for my partners 50th birthday awesome place to stay. Peaceful, tranquil location. The location the wildlife were what made it extra special. Wildlife lovers we named all the friendly possums who visited us every night. I have stayed in many hotels and resorts but wanderers retreat is truely a unique and rewarding holiday to remember.

We had a great time at the resort. Very quiet and peaceful. Our host Antony was always helpful and was very polite with anything we needed. Thankyou for a wonderful stay and will hopefully be back soon. Paul.

We loved the cottage with spa. It's like living in the natural forest. We were spaced significantly apart so as not to bother other patrons. I took two photos from indoors exposing for outside to demonstrate the greenery. The wild life visit on your decking snd ther were possum's houses scattered throughout. One Mile Beach is only 400 meters away. There is much to see and do in and around Port Stephens.

Omg what a beautiful place to stay we stayed here for our honeymoon and we had our own hot tub on a private balcony plus two little possums who visited us every night all amongst beautiful trees and fauna the owners are a delight to deal with we couldn't ask for a better place to stay we will be back

Wonderful quiet location enjoying nature at its best.
Entertainment every night watching the possums interacting and being playful.

I recently stayed at this charming tree house and it surpassed all my expectations. The location is tranquil, making it an ideal choice for couples and families seeking a peaceful retreat.

The tree house itself was clean, comfortable, and beautifully designed. It provided a cozy and unique experience, allowing us to reconnect with nature. We woke up to the soothing sounds of birds and rustling leaves, creating a magical atmosphere.

Been here with family and as a couple getaway, will definitely be going back. Such an amazing place quiet and peaceful the cabins have everything you need and more

Stayed for 2 nights in the eco cottage with spa, beautiful, tranquil and quiet! Staff were friendly and welcoming, kitchen well equipped, large Weber Family Q was clean and worked perfectly. I loved waking up to the birds and going to sleep with the possums. I woke up 5am one morning and watched the possums playing in the trees surrounding the cabin and the birds chasing after them. Was a great way to start the day. Only downside I can think of was the pit style toilet.

This is one of the absolute best places we have ever stayed!! Barry and Vivienne are great people! We love that we were able to reset and relax at this beautiful place and we were able to approach this beautiful husband/wife team and ask for help whenever we needed because they were always out and about on the property doing things and making sure everyone had everything they needed! Definetly booking this place again next time!

Stayed here for 2 nights in one of the hot tub cottages, both of us had the most beautiful time.

Vivienne and Barry are excellent hosts - welcoming, friendly and had some great recommendations for the local area, though we spent a lot of time winding down around the beautiful retreat, especially the pool area and in our hot tub!

The cottage is so well kept, clean and equipped with everything we needed (especially the bug spray!). Beds were super comfy too. We also booked a couples massage for one morning which was set up in the lush outdoors by Andrea & Claire… 10/10 - we’ve never been more relaxed!

We stayed in the 2 bedroom eco cabin for two nights. The cabin was set amongst beautiful trees and shrubs, it was set in a private tranquil setting with a veiw of the pool and the spa on the deck was very relaxing, this is the perfect place to kick back relax and take in the beautiful scenery with the friendly wild life.
The cabin was very clean and and beds were very comfortable.

Honestly one of the most amazing places we have ever stayed. Sadly we checked out bright and early this morning but we really did not want to leave. Barry & Vivienne were amazing hosts, super friendly helpful, and the cottage was in immaculate condition. Beds were super comfy and the spa was perfect temperature. So quiet and peaceful, such a great place to enjoy the nature and wildlife. We will definitely be back and will also be recommending to all family and friends.

The property was quiet, peaceful and just what was needed. Staff are friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble.
The cabins are nestled in the bush and there is an abundance of wildlife. We fed possums who came to visit us on our verandah.
The cabins are well appointed and has everything you need.

Last night we stayed in the tree top cabin, it was spacious, clean, and the sheets where amazing. We had our own possum that I hand feed on the deck while drinking the amazing port that was complimentary with our stay. When it was time to go I felt rested and relaxed I loved our night away we will be back very soon.
