Masallas

We were in Broken Hill for a week on a music tour and this was the most satisfying meal we had during our stay there. We had a massive catered dinner and it was almost completely gone before I could get a plate, so I went back for lunch the next day. Delicious. Thank you for providing us with simple, warm and flavourful food while we were away from home. The staff also came to our final concert at the Civic Centre across the road and it was so beautiful seeing them there. Well worth a visit.

Great little place in Broken Hill, and probably the only Indian restaurant in the town. A lot of people in the reviews have complained about the Naan, however, the Naans are 'home made' (having had them all my life I can tell the difference) and not packaged naans. That's why they taste different. The food definitely could be better in terms of consistency, however, the fact that one can have Indian food in the middle of nowhere is a luxury. The service was also great and the person taking the order was very polite and kind. Would definitely come back if we happen to pass by Broken Hill again.

This place has amazing authentic Indian food. I think it is one of the best places in Broken Hill to eat. Every time I order the staff are so friendly. It's great value, super fast, and delicious!

Sarika puts a massive amount of heart and care in showing Broken Hill her traditional cuisine and cooking. I have been a customer for more than several years and every order is quality. Excellent food and highly recommend.👍

Ordered over the phone. Specifically asked about the free butter chicken for orders over $60(now $80). Was told that it was now only for orders over $80. Arrived to pay and the total came to $83. Guy who took payment said we hadn’t asked about the free butter chicken so we couldn’t get it and refused to acknowledge that we had in fact asked for it. Very disappointed! Came from Sydney. Won’t be eating here again!

EDIT: Called by Sarika not even 20 minutes after leaving the above review, she was more than apologetic over the mixup and offered to deliver the butter chicken to our door. Her service is outstanding as is the food. Will definitely be eating here again.

Excellent choices of curries and sides; during our work visit we ordered from Masallas multiple times for dinner and lunch due to their wide selection of choices. From the naans to the curries the dishes were all delicious and of great size. In addition, the customer service was excellent and accommodating to our dietary requirements.

And the Mango Lassi hit the spot!

I’ve ordered from masallas every few months for the past couple of years… the food is amazing, I’m from Adelaide so I’ve had the pleasure of eating at many amazing Indian restaurants and Broken Hills Masallas is one of the best I’ve had! That’s amazing because they’re just a takeaway place, they are not a fancy restaurant but the food is restaurant qaulity.
The only minor thing I have had a problem with is that the owner isn’t the most social person in the world lol.. you can tell her to her face you love her food and she runs an amazing clean business and she won’t even smile at you, she will probably say thank you quietly before walking away. People on here seem to interpret this as rudeness but she’s not rude, I just think she’s not a social person so her customer service isn’t as good as her employees.
I had a friend who worked for masallas and they always told me how great she is as a boss. She would even drive her staff home if they didn’t have their license.

We order from Masallas almost every week. Sarika and her staff are always happy, friendly and busy! Rumali wraps are AMAZING. Best samosa I've ever had.
Excellent selection of authentic Indian dishes which are clearly made with passion and love. Delivery is usually very prompt, and you are always given notice if a longer than usual wait is expected.
All in all, a top-notch, no nonsense takeaway that will have you coming back.

I have never been to this restaurant in fact not even australia. I've come here after a comment on YouTube stating how good this restaurant was. kudos to the lady owner.

Who would have thought one could have THE BEST curry in Broken Hill, a remote outpost in New South Wales on the border of South Australia.
The curries are authentic and traditional. Delicious and I claim to be a curry connoisseur! If you happen to find yourself in Broken Hill and want a splendid curry experience, do not miss going to Masallas!
The cook and staff are friendly. I cant recommend Masallas highly enough.

I had thali, it was really good. It was one of the best Indian food I have eaten in a long while. They didnt overdo spices and oil which so many restaurants do. Subtle and simple flavors! Awesome. The lady taking the order and serving the food was courteous and had a smile on her face. The kitchen looked great from the glass window.

Fantastic meal. Yummy with Very friendly staff. I wish I had gone to the Massallas earlier in my stay at Broken Hill. Everyone who visits Broken Hill should eat their wonderful food. I had the Tandoori Chicken delicious.

I generally have a meal here at a minimum of once a week and have lived in BH for nearly a year. The standard is always the same and I have even tried the vegetarian options. - It's just good food and it will go to six stars if they get a liquor licence :-) The meals are a generous size, the breads are soft and fresh. I've never had a dud meal there ever.

You won't find an English Curry at this Indian Cuisine Restaurant. Each dish is prepared with herbs and spices from a traditional massala dabba box. They make authentic tasting dishes incorporating the best of Indian into one extensive menu. Highly recommended.

Dined in al fresco. Great food. Best samosas! Chef was very friendly & waitress was helpful. Had a nice red wine with the meal & ended up with some takeaway.

I have been to this place so often that I have lost count. Excellent food. Affordable proce. Very friendly and caring service. The owner's hospitality is second to none. You will never have a disappointing moment here. No wonder this place has been successful and operating for so many years.

Incredible food that tasted wonderfully authentic. Worth coming to Broken Hill just for this place! We bought and ate lunch, and then ended up buying dinner to take with us when we left town that arvo. Must must must try!

Loved it. My partner and I are visiting town and have come here a few times already. Curries are authentic, delicious, and made fresh. Friendly staff. Can't fault it.

Since covid no longer dine in. We had takeaway and I tell you there are few restaurants that can challenge this place for great food. It is first class.

So good!! Everything was perfect. Food is exceptional, service was perfect. I haven't had indian food this good for a long time, even in the cities where the options are endless.
