I don't even know where to start. I've heard so much about this place, so I couldn't pass through Broken Hill without stopping in here.

Walking through the doors is like a step back in time. I immediately felt like I was in the 1960s. The radio was even playing 1960s versions of modern day songs.

There were so many flavours of Shakes to choose from. I went with Butterscotch - it was absolutely beautiful. It was even served in an old style metal cup.

The service was excellent, very friendly and very welcoming.

If you're passing through Broken Hill, make the effort to stop here. You won't regret it.

Keep up the good work!!!!

It is a must see if in Broken Hill. Great range of different flavoured Milkshakes. Like the layout of the place. Friendly service. Great feel of nostalgic. A little bit out of the main CBD but worth the trip.

A must visit on any trip to Broken Hill. Some of the best milkshakes I have ever had. I also appreciated that the young man who served me said if the milkshake is too strong he would add some extra milk. Delicious hot dogs. Great atmosphere, genuinely like stepping back into the 1950s. Great little museum at the rear of the shop. Worth repeat visits. Also, some reviewers have complained about having to wait for service. Be patient! This place is very popular, and attracts locals as well as visitors.

Blast from the past! Love the original 1950s theme and interior. Friendly staff and great value ice cream (1 scoop on waffle cone only $4.50). There is a museum out the back of the shop on the way to the toilets. Just like a family home would have looked like in the 50s, lounge room, kitchen and dining room. Easily missed but well worth the look. Huge range of soda drinks, waffles and desserts. Rich history still going. Great authentic place to visit for out of towners.

What a blast from the past, this is the oldest longest running milk bar in Australia. We only had milk and thick shakes, but minr was the thickest of thick shakes I've ever had!. I had to use the straw as a spoon !
The shop has a museum at the back where you can step back further in time to see shop items from 100 years ago. Cool.

Amazing place. Was fun stepping into the 50's and 60's. Loved the ambience. The decor with the old jukebox, seating, decorations, serviette holders etc. Great original mini museum out back. Serve all manners of icecream based dessert. Loved my peaches and cream waffle and my blue raspberry soda spider. Friendly owner/staff who welcomed us. All their syrups and cordials can be ordered online.

Beautiful atmosphere for a second you can forget you live on Earth. I like the place more than the milkshake itself which anyway was really good. The ice cream was good too when I went the second time.
Thank you for being open over the Easter weekend - even if there was a bit of inexperience amongst the young staff - was overall well managed and great vibe.

Awesome Milkbar, 50s vibe with a jukebox. Tasty waffles & superb thick shakes (cherry ripe) many varieties, the staff are so polite & a great museum out back. The reviews on this place are correct, you've gotta check it out if you're in Broken Hill.

Had a lovely strawberry and rum and raisin ice cream cone and bought some gifts. Very "old school" type of milk bar, very 1950s, authentic. I was served by lovely Aisha, who explained a little of the history of the milk bar. Well worth adding to list of things to do in Broken Hill .

Just a joy to visit, and the custard milkshake was lovely. I'm happy they served kid sized shakes. The museum was fabulous

Found this little gem hidden away in Broken hill, glad I did…

Staff were great to deal with, gave us options and even though they were out of one thing they went over and beyond to ensure we were happy.

Cool 60s-70s theme shop, with music to suit!

I would be back again tomorrow if I was in town for longer!

A wonderful step back onto the 1950/60s.

It's just so we'll done, with a history going back to 1880s.

The ice cream is the creamiest I have had in forty years. Sensational!

There is a museum out the back.

Do it, go there.

Excellent. Old style I remember as a small boy. Milkshake was the biggest I have had in years. Thumbs up from me.

Awesome place! We nearly stayed in Broken Hill an extra night JUST to try another milkshake ... but then found out they were only open Fri to Sun so they wouldn't be open again for days. Hot dogs are great, very soft buns. Milkshakes are soooo good. Too strong? Too light? Tell them and they'll fix it! Bit of a wait but it's because they're busy and popular. We tried the spearmint choc, the Jamaican something (?), and Cherry Ripe shakes. Worth it!

A cool little retro milk bar serving lots of different milkshake recipes, ice creams and sweets. American diner themed with seating both indoors and out. Very popular and very busy in the area, and there's a great park across the road which is great for taking the shakes or ice creams. Staff were great too, and the ice creams we had were delicious.

Wonderful 1950s style retro milkbar (think more US-style soda pop/sweets store, not corner convenience store), complete with decor and music of the era. While the venue focuses mainly on various flavoured milkshakes/thickshakes, sundaes and spiders made with their own syrups, they also offer ice cream (limited selection but faves were strawberry summer and boysenberry swirl); fresh hot waffles (peaches and cream was just yum!); hot chips; hot dogs; and hot and iced coffees. You can also buy bottled syrups, chocolate blocks and lollies for those sweet tooth souvenirs. The service was also very welcoming and friendly. A very fun blast from the past experience in the middle of the outback 😊 You can't come to Broken Hill and not go at least once. Note: only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday (in January at least).

It’s like walking back into the 50’s and 60’s
The thick shakes are exactly like they used to be THICK and the staff are friendly everything is cooked fresh. A gem of a place. Glad we took the time to go there and experience it for ourselves

What a great place to step back in time, makes me feel like I am in a movie.

Friendly staff and amazing milkshakes! We had a Mars Milkshake which was delicious. There is so many different flavours, it was hard to choose. There is also a small museum you can explore while you wait.

Will definitely come back here again.
