A beautiful, short walk into a really pretty canyon. The parking is a bit precarious, but worth it.
It is a rough walk in with some steep steps, so you do need take it slow and stay aware of your kids. But it is a great short adventure getting down to the bottom.
Once you are in the “cave” itself(more of a very narrow chasm) it is indeed like a little mermaid cabe. It is cool, there is the sound of little waterfalls and trickling streams. It is muddy and can be slippery so again be careful if you or the kids are exploring the paths that lead up around the walls and behind the little waterfall.
Follow the stream down into a little tree filled grotto. Unfortunately down here you are bounded by the road, but ignoring this is easy and it is still a lovely place to explore at the base of the cliffs.
As always be careful of edges and rock falls in these place.

This is a very rewarding view for a small 5 minute walk to the waterfall. We parked up in a parking spot right on the hairpin turn across the road from the start of the walk. There is plenty of room for at least 6- 8 cars to park up comfortably. There is a very nice walk if you continue into the forest below. It can get very cold down the bottom during the winter months.

What a fantastic little find. Absolutely magical after a lot of rain, but watch your step. Very wet and steep after rain, but well worth it. Would also be beautiful on a hotter day. Well worth the visit.

Great short walking trail from the Megalong Valley Road, quiet steep walking down the natural rocks. It is sandstone cave located in the Blackheads, NSW. This place is the scene from Mad Max movie.

A relatively easy walk, no other people around (not crowded out with tourists like other falls) and incredible place. A must if in the Blue Mountains!

For anyone wanting a longer walk (and to avoid walking on busy Shipley St & Megalong Rd), there is a lovely bush track to Mermaids Cave from Station St, 5 mins south of Staveley St cnr. It's not marked but pretty obvious.
