The Gidley

I heard mixed opinions about this place, but ultimately the food was epic and our waiter was awesome. I told him to give us one of everything on the menu, then he said it was too much for 6 people, so he recommended what we should have and we enjoyed it. He also helped us pick out the perfect wine. I love the no phone policy as it kept one of our mates who’s addicted to his phone off it for the entire dinner. My favourite part was the manager telling me off for taking a photo of the food and getting him to take a group photo for us. But it’s my birthday and we were in the private room, so his chatter was quickly shut down by laughter 😂. Can’t wait to come back! Thanks for an epic dinner.

Walked in on a Friday evening for what’s suppose to be the best burgers in Sydney and boy they definitely did not disappoint. The beef was so juicy with a slight crisp on the edge of the patty. The cheese was melt in your mouth delicious and the pickle was a nice refresher in between bites. Fries were also so tasty. Service was amazing and great drink options. The Gidley remains bookmarked on my list and will hopefully be returning very soon for the steak.

Rarely am I left utterly breathe taken but the Gidley did leave me just that.

I highly recommend this fine dining burger experience for the cue tips alone! Nothing like your stomach being full and your ear canal being empty. As I always go to wash my hands after a burger this extraordinary touch of class was the cherry on top to a pretty decent burger.

Service was outstanding, even though, the staff could spot me a mile off coming in to the establishment in shorts, tshirt and a cap and knew I was only there to burg, cue tip and dip… AND still they waited on me hand and foot like I was ordering a $600 steak. Hats off to you kind sirs.

The ambience was something that stuck with me too. If I worked at a bank and was only on 200k a year I would totally bring my plastic wife here to treat her a little.

Lastly but certainly not least, mum would of loved that your restaurant uses grown alchemist.

This is a must stop on any Sydney burger tour.

Ah, The Gidley. Nestled in the heart of Sydney, this place reminds me oh too well of the lavish and extravagant lifestyle I have grown so accustomed to in New York and Boston. Now, let me cut to the chase. The burger here is akin to ambrosia served to the gods. Served by white gloves, no less! You'd think I was dining amongst the Olympus. The taste? Unparalleled. Each bite was a symphony of flavor that had both my tongue and my soul doing a jig. I wanted to consume it slowly, savoring every morsel, yet the divine taste left me fiendishly gulping down the entire thing in record time. As for the drinks, the word 'perfection' comes to mind. They added just the right 'oomph' to the meal, which is exactly what I needed after a demanding week of travel. Once again, I was reminded of my connections with high-end hotels/airlines, with the exceptional service and attention to detail that was readily apparent here. So, fellow foodies, if you find yourself in Sydney, do yourself a favor and pay The Gidley a visit. Your taste buds will sing praises!

The entrance is hidden away but opens up to a fabulous array of spacious rooms with dim lighting.

Immediately we were told we had to put our phones in a little bag at the center of the table, that would be returned to us at the end of the meal. I though this was a great idea.

The service was impeccable, every waiter that serviced us was attentive, kind and helpful.

Our Cocktails were presented beautifully, deconstructed and most importantly yummy.

Our Meals were fabulous. We had the Burger as an entrée and a couple of steaks that were extremely succulent.

It was a very classy establishment and reassuring that the waiters put no pressure on us to order the more expensive meals.

In all we had about 5 cocktails, a bottle of wine, 2 entrees, 3 sides and 2 mains for around $500.

We thought this was very reasonable and will certainly be back.

Loved everything about this place. Atmosphere was great, love the no phone policy as it is so nice to sit and enjoy the company you are with, without distractions! Staff were so attentive and super friendly. The food was next level, every dish was divine! Highly recommend it.

Peter looked after us so well and made a fabulous experience even better. The bar, restaurant, food, cocktails and wine were all wonderful and they took such great care with my gluten free requirements. The martini, potato gratin and burger (with a lovely GF bun) are a must!!

We choose the Gidley this week to celebrate my Daughter’s Uni Graduation.
What a great choice, service was first class, Gentleman’s Club like atmosphere…and the food!!! Amazing, we had a 1.4kg rib eye cooked 3 ways, best steak I have had, the condiments were also very tasty. Highly recommended and will definitely go back.

Probably one of the best steaks I've had in Sydney. The spinalis was such a great cut and cooked to perfection. Everything about that cut was so good. Then the English roast was a great alternative to the steak. So much flavour, though its definitely a sharing piece. The burger is quite delicious, but I found the bacon better on its own thing, but the egg was great.

They brought out a surprise bagel with some dips, and they were warm. The taramosalata was easy best sauce with it. We wanted something different for the entre, and the deep fried prawn heads were awesome though I can see that some people wouldn't like to eat a prawn head. Wrapped with lettuce dipped into the sauce, so good.

There wasn't too much to write home about with the sides and desserts, but it was good enough for me. Enjoyable way to end the meal. The entrance can be hard to find, but its located down some steps. Highly recommend getting a booking first.

We had the pleasure of dining at this remarkable restaurant to celebrate Mother’s Day. The staff I must say were exceptionally organised, professional, and friendly. The dishes served were truly outstanding, with freshly made, dense and chewy bagels, but tender and easy to bite through, a superb burger, and a succulent prime rib roast. Overall, it was an exceptional dining experience… Impeccable service, exceptional food quality, and an impressive atmosphere. I highly recommend this restaurant for a memorable dining experience.

I took my partner here for her 30th birthday after multiple recommendations from friends and it far surpassed my expectations. The service was amazing, we had the pleasure of Gale who was on his 3rd day in to his role and he did a phenomenal job of taking care of us for the night. What most impressed me about the service was despite much larger groups than just us two, every single member of the team was ensuring we were looked after and I haven’t experienced better service in Sydney so I want to commend the whole team on an amazing job. The food was absolutely incredible and easily one of the best steaks I have had in Sydney. Make sure to get the Mac n cheese! Despite not wanting to have desert after being so full, the team still put a little birthday jelly together for my partner to ensure she had a candle to blow out for her birthday which was a lovely touch and one I won’t forget. Overall 5/5 and we look forward to coming back to visit again soon.

Using mobile phones is prohibited inside. If you're looking for an intimate dinner with a good steak, this is the place to be. They also serve delicious burgers!

Had an early new years dinner here with my partner and it was amazing! Atmosphere was nice and cozy, they kept your phones which I thought was a nice touch to engage one another over the table.

Our waiter Chris, was superb! He was attentive, bubbly and responsive. Food was great, had 2 different cuts of steak and both turned out great. The mac and cheese side was very decadent too. Overall a very pleasant experience and highly recommended!

The atmosphere is great.
They take your phones away once you are seated at the tables. While a bit gimmicky, it does end up making for a better evening for all.

All of this and it’s priced relatively reasonably.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to The Gidley and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an excellent fine dining establishment.

There is a great selection of delicious food on the menu and whatever you order, you won't be disappointed. Make sure you leave room for dessert to finish your night off.

I enjoyed the atmosphere as it wasn't noisy even when it was at its busiest, so it's fantastic for catch ups or dates. No phones are allowed in the main dining area, but that's not necessarily a bad things as it encourages you to fully enjoy your dining experience.

The service is impeccable and the staff are very hospitable and attentive. They look after guests very well!

Wow the intimate dinning experience that is gidley. Did not try the steak cause it was an hour till our table was ready so opted to eat the old jersey cow burger in the bar area. Just as happy with that. Awesome flavour. The scollops were the best I’ve had and don’t normally like. Could not get enough of the garlic butter mushrooms. Old fashion was on point. Will be back many times for sure.

This is the best restaurant I have been to in a long time. I went for my birthday, and everything was perfect. The venue feels a touch old school exclusive, but in a warm and welcoming manner. The service was impeccable, friendly, helpful, guide you through the experience. The waiters were so special, super attentive with my mum who just got out of hospital, and even gave me a little extra gift for my bday. And the food? Phenomenal. They market a steak which they call the best in Sydney. And I can't disagree. Ever dish was heaven. I love that potatoes are their own category!
They have a no phone policy, and I didn't really think it would make a difference to the experience, but I felt all of us being much more present.
This will be a favourite of ours for many years to come. Thanks Gidley for making it a special night.

Best dining experience I've ever had
Me and my partner went for my 30th and our anniversary.. we had a waitor that explained he was a new staff member..
This did not make a difference if anything it made the vibe more authentic for us.
He did a fabulous job!
The food was the best food I've had in a long time, we ordered the Brussels and Mac and cheese for sides. We had two cuts of steak both amazing.

One of the best restaurants I've been fortunate enough to go to. The experience was terrific, service exceptional, and the food was totally next level. If you're in Sydney and looking for a great night out, you'd be hard pressed to find better than the Gidley. Highly recommend.

Ate here in the private dining room as part of a bucks night. Food was amazing, with the steaks were cooked to perfection.

Staff were very friendly, attentive and made the evening very enjoyable.

Highlight was deconstructed martini, which allowed us to experiment with different flavour combinations. A highly memorable night!
