Robin Gibson Gallery

I have been visiting this gallery since the late 1980s. One of a handful of private galleries in Sydney that offers a welcoming atmosphere. The snobbery and pretentiousness of the Sydney art scene is not present here. Beautiful building too. A glorious piece of old Sydney.

One of Sydney's longest-established galleries, but not at all pretentious or fashion-driven. Diverse artists ranging from technically impressive painters to quirky sculptures and found objects works. The owners have impeccable taste and the quality is always high.

All art galleries, like libraries and museums deserve five stars. As free cultural institutions they enliven and enlighten us. Further, Robin Gibson has survived while many venerable other galleries have closed. That said, there is very limited parking nearby, and buses to nearby Oxford or Burton street public transport options. Access to the gallery, housed in a beautiful old building, is also via steep stairs. But good cafes and the National Art School also close by.

Wonderful and loved it

It's lovely to find art beckoning you within intriguing buildings. Gallery light sets a theatrical background to any exhibition.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

It’s linked to cartel and meth. I knew people part of the gallery while I went to uni across the road. Nice pieces but dirty and not ethical based on knowing they are linked to a primary school student being stalked. Which is insane. I’m apprehensive to write this review because it’s very lgbt friendly. But that doesn’t mean safe including for lgbt. They really put the plus in lgbtqia+ which is pretty old school for a country that being gay has been legal long enough. It’s been really perspective shattering. The works good though if you’re fine with everything else listed which isn’t uncommon in the arts, it’s a great small gallery.
