Helm Bar & Bistro

This is one of my favourite places for dinner and drinks. They have daily specials including daily meals, happy hour and jugs of beer for only $20 on the weekend. The menu has a big selection to choose from and the food is delicious. The prices are very reasonable, the staff are friendly and the view is spectacular. Highly recommended!

The Helm bar hosted a birthday party for us. We had a group of 25 and they gave us a perfect dedicated space. Service was excellent, food was great and we felt very looked after.
The booking process and communication to organise the function was great too.

Tasty food. Value for money!! Good ambience and music. It was a bit noisy though. Food was served quickly and it was delicious. You can place the order from your table by scanning the bar code at your table or you can order at the counter. The restaurant is located on the 1st floor. The toilets were clean.

I recently held my 21st birthday celebrations here and had an absolute blast! Matisse and the team were fantastic from the initial enquiry to the event and beyond. The event ran seamlessly thanks to the team’s brilliant service and communication. We were able to tailor food, drinks and layout according to our needs. They have a great selection of drinks and the food, particularly the sushi and pizzas, were delicious. The view of harbour was amazing and we had a great view of the fireworks. Would absolutely recommend Helm bar for any celebration!

Cockle Bay Yacht Club is a great place for lunch on a sunny day in Darling Harbour. Had the prawn and crab pasta dish with extra chilli and was delish. Having that again when I go back!

A fabulous evening at The Helm Bar! Pizzas were delicious & loved the Passionfruit Gin Cocktail!!!! We were gifted with a great table overlooking the harbour & all the staff were super friendly. Thanks for a great night at your restaurant ⭐🤩⭐

Beautiful space for drink and eat.
We spent 2hours, It was so nice to eat while watching the sun set. The wind is cool. Being at level 1, you don't have to worry too much about passers-by. Great experience. Happy hour cocktails are reasonably priced, tasty pizza.

We had our staff Christmas party at Helm Bar. There were 45 of us and the venue catered so beautifully. It was on a Tuesday night - so not too busy.
My communications with Matisse began quite early in the year and she was patient and wonderful to work with given our budget.
Upon my arrival, I was met by Belinda who then introduced me to Simon who took care of us the remainder of the evening. He always checked with me the timing of the food to be brought out.
We were offered a banquet style menu which also included a bar tab.
The starters - oysters, salmon sashimi, burrata with heirloom tomatoes, truffle and mushroom arancini - absolutely beautiful. The seafood was fresh and there was plenty to be shared.
For the mains we had lamb shoulder - the meat fell off the bone, tasty and tender, served with broccolini and potatoes. We also had a blue swimmer crab and prawn linguine - so tasty as well.
Finished the night with Christmas pudding and cheese and crackers.
My colleagues all enjoyed the evening- comments “beautiful venue, great atmosphere and the food was delicious”.
The service from staff was beautiful.
If you have a small budget to work with, want a city water view, then Helm Bar is a great venue to have a function including Christmas. Easy transport access also with train, bus and light rail options (or Uber/cab).

conveniently located just about 3-5 minutes walk from our hotel. their pizzas are quite tasty and full of flavours, drinks were ok too. not much people were there as we went on a weekday afternoon but the view from here was lovely.

For the position right on the Wharf at Darling Harbour, good honest no-frills food at family-friendly prices. Really friendly staff. Gluten-free options available.

Pizza's... omg... sooo good. We had cappricosa and gamberone. Demolished in mintues was so good. The little one had the kids spaghetti. Best pasta Mum 🤣

I've walked past this place a million times and never really stopped in. But it's actually pretty cool. Great outlook over Darling Harbour, nice chill vibe on a summer afternoon, and good service. Good place for a beer with mates.

What a great establishment with fantastic views over Darling Harbour. Take advantage of the bistro weekend specials. We had a Lobster Roll and a glass of Moët for less than $50. Plus the jugs of beer were only $15. Looking forward to returning.

Great little hide away for Friday afternoon. Wasnt busy which made getting food and drink easy. Everything brought out in a timely manner !
