Wollemi pines are very rare in the wild, so it's quite exciting to see one casually sitting in a popular, busy tourist thoroughfare.

I had a look and my first thoughts were "no! really? wow!"

First time I have seen a wollemi pine. So glad that it's been included in this public space. Such a historic discovery for the world. Now visitors can view this up close for themselves. I wonder how many people are aware of this ground breaking discovery in NSW - a plant that had only previously been seen in fossils and then discovered by accident in August 1994 by David Noble, a NSW National Parks and Wildlife Services Officer who had been trekking and abseiling at the time who noticed the plant's unusual foliage and structure.
