Tandoori Hut Newtown

We went with a group of six, and had a great time all round! The food was delicious and surprisingly affordable. Tandoori chicken definitely had a spicier kick than we were used to, but god it was delicious.

I’ve searched far and wide for a great tandoori restaurant in Sydney since Surjits at Annandale closed for dine in, & I’ve finally found it. Authentic, beautifully cooked tandoori chicken & naan bread.

Where order included butter chicken, chicken tikka, tandoori chicken, paneer makhani, and chana daal.
The food was great, but the Ambience of the place is not that awesome.
Butter chicken, chana daal, and paneer makhani were mild and loved by kids.
Tandoori chicken and other diaheswas adequately spiced for any indian household
I felt the food was a bit pricey but worth having once in a while.
I would definitely recommend this place.
Note: I went around 6 pm, so I found parking easily but finding parking here ould also be a challenge

The best, tasty food ever. Genuine home cooking and at a great price. High recommended. The place doesn't look like much but the food is superb.

Had dinner last night here with a mate. We had the chicken jalfrezi, roti and lamb biryani. All of the items were delicious and the portions were perfect too. In fact, the biryani was big enough for both of us to share. The service was good and the place has a simple, yet pleasant decor. Highly recommend everyone to try this joint when they are in enmore, next to Newtown.

One of our go to spots for authentic Pakistani food. Good serving sizes.

If you want food that tastes authentic Pakistani food without fancy stuff, this is the place. Their nihari, tandoori chicken and palak paneer is the best combo. The menu is simple and food is packed with flavour.

This place is heeeeeectic! We were recommended this place by a friend and he was absolutely correct. Definitely get on down to this top spot. The food is very tasty amd the choice of different breads is good. The staff were very friendly also. Very casual dinning area, possibly a bit rustic but the food and staff are the winners here!

Butter chicken & lamb shank nihari - the best one can find in Sydney. Been to this place for over a decade, no change to quality or quantity! This family run restaurant is a complete delight for foodies who love Pakistani or Indian cuisine.

We have been regulars of Tandoori Hut for 20 years and have never been disappointed.
The food is always consistently exceptional.
The food is authentic, fresh and tasty. Our favourite dishes include the chicken madras, lamb korma and Lamb Saag. The kids absolutely love the butter chicken, naan and mango lassi. A total winner for the whole family!

My family and I have been regulars to this restaurant for the last 15 years. The taste is so authentic and consistently delicous every single time we have been! We also love the fact that they are open so late as and the laid back atmosphere! Value for money as well with a solid quantity and quality.

When we have visitors from India and want to take them out for dinner we always make sure to atleast take them out to Tandoori Hut as we know they will enjoy it.

Stop by this place by chance while wandering through Newtown having hit a few breweries and really fancied a curry.
Firstly don’t judge it on appearance, yes it doesn’t look like much but the food is spot on and we paid $54 for 2 samosas, 2 drinks, 2 curries, a naan bread and a stuffed paratha, everything was excellent easily as good as anything I have had in Australia and probably at least half the price.
I should also add that the service was excellent, so really nothing but praise for this place.

Been going there for over 20 years now. Never cared to give them a review on google (I guess I am too old school). Anywho, If one wants to find anything closely similar to authentic North Indian specifically Punjabi food then this is the place to go. I am yet to find better Butter Chicken and Lamb Shank than this joint out of India in all the countries I had travelled too. Prices are very decent. Customer service is outstanding. Most likely Chris will be your server as its family run business.
Its not a fancy place but who cares. I go there for quality and taste of food. Been to many fancy restaurants in life and always ended doing Mecca's run before reaching home.

Good food. Heard good reviews about this place from few. Hard to get parking on the streets. It's a long drive also for us. But all worth. I loved the tandoori chicken starter and chicken biryani. Ambiance is okay. But I would advise the management to expand. Hardly 5,6 tables.

I am deeply involved with “TANDOORI HUT” since it’s opening in 1996. I am a regular customer of Tandoori Hut since 1996 till last week. If you ever wish to have an experience real traditional and home made like curries, please try. I am 100% sure you will not regret. Prices are nominal. Hospitality is great. I also do a lot of times takeaway and catering at my place at Darling Point. Rafi is a great chef with more than 25 years experience in Indian and Pakistani food. Hope you will have a great experience. Must try Goat curry with bones,
Chicken Biryani, OKRA ( BHINDI ) and lamb shanks.

Take care of parking, I have been fined many times 🥂
