Defiance Gallery at Mary Place

Love this gallery. The works and shows are always exciting and of course a big shout out to all the staff, (especially Dallas), who are so welcoming, knowledgeable and genuinely friendly and helpful. They work hard to promote their artists and if you're lucky you might just bump into a few while you are there. We always manage to find a park in local streets. Visited the gallery as part of a AGNSW art walk on Saturday afternoon in Darlinghurst and Paddington. Gallery is tucked away in a residential area of terraces and leafy streets. It has 2 levels of good gallery space. An enjoyable group outing on a crisp winter afternoon.

Defiance Gallery (Enmore Road and now Mary Place) sets a very high standard in the representation of Australian (and international) abstract artists in both sculpture and painting. It proudly represents some of Australia's best artists and has a strong history in innovation and philanthropy. Moreover, it clearly avoids the growing tendency towards commercial or decorative art and adheres to more traditional standards of excellence. Meeting the curator and founder, Campbell Robertson-Swann is priceless.

Great place for art lovers

Very interesting little gallery that is very well organised. Some really interesting art works are to be seen currently. The place is very easy to find and there is suitable parking in the little back streets behind the main street.

Not a huge range of artwork to peruse, but from time to time they have some nice stuff.
