Vatel Restaurant

This is hands down our favorite French restaurant in the inner west. 5 star quality food, generous portions and great customer service make them so special. Thanks for being so customer obsessed Will definitely be going back for more!!

Hidden gem. A French restuarant just hidde behind us. Wish we were introduced to it earlier. Lovely chef and wait staff.
My 8 years old and I love the garlic escargot, which is not overly powered by garlic. And we adore the truffle pasta. And dessert, we love the chocolate fondant. So lucky to have a great French restuarant in the inner west.

Beautiful food, lovely staff, always an elegant place to dine. The Crepe Suzette in particular is always so perfect (but it was devoured before I thought to take a photo). Our compliments to the chef :-)

Came here on a Friday night based on friend’s recommendation. Friendly service and lovely food and decor. Had the 3 course menu and it’s really well priced. Love the dory and the creme brulee. Will come back again for sure!

A gem - party of 11 last Saturday night. We each had 3 courses sampling much of the menu. Everything was delicious and the service amazing. After a recent move to Balmain we were looking for a venue for a special venue for a family celebration. Came across Vatel and after discussions with Philippe we had our venue. The service was attentive with great timing between courses. Everyone in the restaurant seemed really happy. I can’t wait to go back.

We were here on a mid-week night. Wasn't very busy and the atmosphere could have been better - background music would have helped!
That said, the food and service we're excellent - really 1st class.
We'll be back and highly recommended.

I have dined at Vatel twice in the last month. And am thoroughly impressed. The wait staff are very knowledgeable friendly and attentive. The food is delicious and the best produce is used. Presentation of the dishes is excellent. And the portions are generous. Will go back again and again. And the atmosphere is quaint with monet on the walls and dim lighting.

Absolutely fantastic service and food was devine.

In addition, I had left one of my earbuds behind by accident.

They called every single booking on the night to find the rightful owner.

This is one establishment I will be back again and again.

The follow up on the earbud just shows the pride they have in service excellence.

Really lovely classic French food. A definite neighbourhood gem worth visiting. We had the French onion soup, special cauliflower and blue swimmers soup, scotch fillet and John Dory. They all tasted really good. Thank you for lovely service and dinner

A hidden gem. The scallop ravioli, onion soup, cauliflower soup all v v yum (cheese souffle lacked flavour). For mains, the steak and fries (fries were amazing) was good, the pork belly was delicious, Moroccan lamb was also v tasty, duck l'orange also v good. The desserts were a little more hit and miss - the chocolate fondant was delicious, the crepe ok, the pear tart was ok but not really a tart, the brulee was a bit curdled inside. The vanilla icecream was yum, the crepe was decent. The waiter Nic was v hospitable. Overall, a really nice place to eat. I think overall food was better than Cafe Lyon. Highly recommend! Thank you Felipe (head chef and owner!)

All food is made on premises except the bread rolls. They even make their own butter and ice cream!!!! Expensive but worth it for a special night out.

Excellent food, excellent service. I particularly like the lamb's brains and the pork belly was delicious.

Dined here with a friend and enjoyed a very reasonably priced 3 course set menu for $40. The restaurant was busy with only 1 spare table. Our waiter was all on his own for the evening we went and he didn’t miss a beat. Very professional friendly and obliging. The menu stresses the strict use of fresh in season produce which was obviously the case after we had finished and enjoyed our meals. Recommended.

I love Vatel.. Amazing French cuisine and just around the corner from Drummoyne! So many good memories, Bastille Day, etc..

Always fantastic food and with a nice bottle of chardonnay, goes down perfectly. Will always recommend.

Excellent - even as take away. Had a delicious meal of duck a l'orange and crepes suzette as a lockdown meal on the weekend. It was superb!!! Phillippe had everything ready on time. Fresh, hot and ready to go along with keep warm instructions for dessert and an excellent matching wine. Will definitely be ordering again soon!

This beautiful space on Lyons Road Drummoyne boasts some of the best food in Canada Bay. It's an institution & a local treasure. The prices are very reasonable for delicious French food & it's BYO. We have been coming to Vatel for 14 years and it has never let us down. Highly commended!

Decided to try local and wasn’t disappointed. Philippe was a one man band in the kitchen and we ordered entrees, mains and desserts to takeaway during covid and each meal was fantastic. Couldn’t fault anything. Thank you!

I have limited experiences in French Restaurants (this is my roughy my 6th) so what better way to review this place with a French person to Vatel!

Duck liver parfait, there is no place where this doesn't taste good and this is the same here. The bread is sweet but shouldnt be so crunchy

Burgundy snails,the way they cooked it was perfect,the texture is just right but there wasn't enough garlic in it as there is hardly any flavour from the snails themselves

My friend blue swimmer crab,he told me it's just average,nothing special but he liked our other mains

Hot pot calamari,for me it was ok but to the other 3 people they were really impressed. The calamari was not rubbery and I did like the tomato based stock/sauce

Duck "a l'orange" was the best main of the night. The potato gratin was a excellent compliment to the taste of the duck,it enhanced it to flavour explosions in my mouth! So so good!

Dessert wise we had the Vatels crepe suzette . Another must try dish,all the ingredients meshed into one sweet mouthful of joy!

Prices are what you would expect from any French restaurant,on the pricer side

My French friend felt it was authentic

They have tues-Friday specials,will definitely be back for this
