Always a pleasure to spend time here. Lovely coffee and cakes, nothing is too much trouble. I’ve noted a few of the one star reviews and it never ceases to amaze me that people will take out their personal frustrations on a small business because a perceived slight.

Always an amazing experience. The owner is constantly trying to help his customers the best he can. He serves delicious food and the best coffee.

I regularly visit the Concord library to complete assignments and one of my favourite moments of the day is going to the Knowledge Grounds Cafe and treating myself to a nice cup of coffee and a sandwich. This coffee shop offers a great service and a nice variety on their menu. I find the atmosphere welcoming and inviting to sit down and relax after studies. Definitely recommend it.

Their coffee is amazing and the breakfast menu is top-notch. I've tried a few different items and they've all been delicious. The staff is always friendly and the atmosphere is cozy and inviting. If you're looking for a great spot to grab some coffee and a tasty breakfast, this is the place to go!

We regularly have coffee or a toasted sandwich in the cafe. The owner is always polite and helpful. He is welcoming and moves chairs around to suit our number of people. The toasted sandwiches are delicious and served to us with expertise!! We wouldn’t consider going anywhere else! Jean M.

We love this cafe! I often visit after attending baby time at the library and have noisy kids and make a big mess. All of which isn’t a problem! Great food and coffee is delicious!! Very friendly and compassionate staff.

Highly recommend, the owner is incredibly friendly and supportive. Having worked here, I can say with confidence that there is a great deal of care taken in the food & service.

I enjoyed working here & the owner supported me throughout my studies - highly recommend a visit and a pesto sandwich! (I make them at home still)

Best Scones I've ever had!! my friends and I love this cafe, it is a nice calm space to sit and catch up and treat ourselves to a Devonshire tea. (The owner) Simon makes the Scones himself, they are amazing, they are the best I have ever tasted.

How few libraries have a cafe as part of the experience? Simon who owns the Knowledge Grounds cafe at Concord Library, not only makes you feel very welcome, but also makes it possible to sit back, have a great coffee and yummy pumpkin/pesto chicken/curried egg (my favourites) wrap (and other delicious alternatives) and read, relax with or without family or in my case, work. Totally recommend.

Dear Caroline,

as you can see I am a daily visitor to the cafe and I can attest that you are just a man basher, a quite common thing these days. You should be setting your kids an example and teaching them about love and kindness. Its clear from your over the top comments that you are not a nice person. and have decided to troll the cafe.

I really hope your kids grow up with a good education that teaches them right from wrong. Not to simply lash out at others like a terrible two's kiddie.

Dear CesarP and Joanne

I've just updated my review of Simon's service. to six stars. I let him know that my doctor advised that I shouldn't have fizzy drinks. Now Simon refuses to serve them to me as he's more concerned with my health than income. Thanks Simon.

Also thanks for not letting Joanne just grab glasses as I don't know where her hands have been. My health is a problem for me. Especially as she has kiddies. I know that mum's can be busy but sometimes they need to take care. Joanne needs to get over her embarassment at being reminded.

I completely disagree with you. I am a disabled person and I go to the cafe nearly everyday of the week. The cafe owner is a great bloke and he has even gone out of the way to bake me cookies that are not made with sugar as I have diabetes.

I have seen the way that Simon deals with customers and it is always with courtesy and respect. There are lots of customers who come to the cafe and at times there is no sitting room.

CesarP, I reckon your posting that he is arrogant and rude is completely wrong and that you need to look at yourself. What sort of person should think they are entitled to stay eight hours at a time and just buy one cup of coffee (especially when there are computers and many other public places to sit and do your laptop work.)? Well...an arrogant one of course. How long were you there sitting on one cup of coffee CesarP?

The majority of people know that there is plenty of computer space and tables throughout Concord library. In fact I go to Concord Library because of its superb computer facilities.

The majority of people would be reasonable in their use of the cafe facilities especially when there is plenty of alternate room throughout the library. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out that the cafe is a business and its fair to allow other customers to have seats. Its also fair to ensure that the business is not taken advantage of...

I love the cafe as it's a peaceful place to collect my thoughts and relax with a cup of coffee, can of zero and my special biscuit and have a laugh with Simon.

Thanks again for your kindness

I give this café’ a 5 out of 5 for the following reasons;
Friendliness Service; Because of the reasons mentioned below, and listening to how the café owner /manager Simon (20 years café’ expertise) responds to and serves his clientele, he is cordial, friendly and welcoming..... I find how you greet people yourself, determines how you will be treated accordingly, therefore, it is a very rare occasion where I write an unfavourable review on rudeness or lack of friendliness.
Cleanliness;During my 1.5 hour stay, the café’ manager, was busy cleaning tables and ensuring the café’ tables and floor was kept clean and tidy – the place was very clean.
Product/service/food quality; On the day of doing this review, I forgot my wallet – yet the friendly café’ manager still allowed me to have a cappuccino – and come back later, to make payment. I know that if I was anywhere else, this would not be an option; I would have to get my wallet and pay for the cappuccino. Therefore, on this point, I give the Manager a 5 out of 5 for giving a sister a break (tku). Cappuccino’s well priced for the area and good coffee. I did not eat on this occasion.
Value for money; The café’ is located in the Concord library in the Inner West. The socio-economic community residing here per the ABS (Australian Bureau of Statistics 2016) rate this area in the upper income earning realms (median income 2000.00 per week). Comparative to other suburbs, the average household income of this community is twice that of a suburb like Liverpool (1,000.00 per week median income weekly ABS 2016). The prices in that respect, given the average income are EXCELLENT. Price for a cappuccino in Liverpool and food is around 4.50 for a large cappuccino – This cafe' is cheaper or around the same as Liverpool prices.
X-factor/Vibe; The vibe is friendly, wide-open internal space, cool AIR conditioned space, community orientated, family, (on the day I was there, there was a continuous flow of mums and bubs coming in to eat, or have their food. Knowledge Grounds is a good place to meet with friends, play chess. If you like the view, you can eat on the balcony with views of trees, in a peaceful environment. The Library is well facilitated during your university, school or high school swotting. A Justice of the Peace is available (Tues and Thursday 10am – 12pm).
Well done KGC!, keep smiling and doing what you love.
