Wongulla Campground

Campground is large with lots of sites. There were lots of campers but plenty of space for privacy. Byo portaloo toilet. Not much firewood to collect, byo. Drive up the hill in Wongulla and check out the quirky letterboxes/street art. Not too far out of Mannum if you need to top up supplies. The general store nearby has very limited hours.

Amazing night sky viewing in the dark hours. Gorgeous views in the day time too with the cliffs over the water.

A true gem and a real credit to the Wongulla Progress Committee. Clean, well cared for maintained. Perfect for a quiet camp on the amazing banks of the Murray.

Great spot by the River, bins are provided for rubbish, toilet block at the boat ramp is clean. Highly recommend !!!

Always love the peacefulness of Wongulla.
I don't love those campers who don't bring their own toilets and use the bush even though there are many signs up asking people not to and directing them to the local public toilets 1 km away. If they keep disrespecting this campground the owners may shut the gate and we won't be able to go there anymore.
And when you leave - don't leave the dozen or so huge carp lying on the ground to rot. Wrap them in newspaper and throw them in the bin before you leave! I get that they are food for the birds but please throw them in the bin when you leave.

Great relaxing camp site, amazing views of the cliffs, river and great for kayaks ..... families to enjoy a great weekend ... another hidden treasure in SA.......

Beautiful spot but if River is in flood the water can and does take over the camp ground. The road in also closes when it's raining ( dry weather road only). Also no toilets/showers/BBQ. If you need a toilet is about a 20 min walk to the wongulla boat ramp

Iam reluctant to share this gem but I can't be to selfish! the owner does a brilliant job to keep this camground clean,tidy,and open its a lovely location lots of birds mouth of the river marne to explore,and beautiful views of the river and cliffs they only ask for a donation to help towards up keep !thanks again wongulla!!

So peaceful (and free!!). Large spaces, easy access.

My first ever camping with my partner and we enjoyed thoroughly. Well maintained site, lots of free spots, great riverside view, only problem is toilet which is a minute drive away. Loved the sunrise and sunset view, great view of Murray. Absolutely loved it. Pls go....😇

Wongulla is an amazing free camping area, made available and maintained by the generousity of its owner and a very special group of genuine altruisitic patrons. On a good day it is a quiet peaceful place ideal for a bit of canoeing, kayaking, fishing and yabbying. On public holidays and summer weekends it can be populated by ferrals and self-interested people with ski-boats and jet-skis, with no sanitary facilities and no consideration for others. A great place but consider the above when choosing a time to visit.

Now open. Campers must be self contained, public toilets are 1.5 km away. Leave no trace.

Beautiful natural setting, peaceful, total perfection for self-contained camping. Please respect and leave only footprints. Rubbish bins provided, thanks to the Progress Association.

Only a small site over all, but still enjoyed the peace of no speed boats or jet ski’s lol!!
