After my MVA, I spent a year at a rehab facility with the Spinal Injury Unit. The staff were understanding and patient, and they know exactly how to help their clients. If you're a new patient here, spend time at the gym and socialize with others in your ward - go to the cafe in the facility or sit by the lake.

It's not easy dealing with not being unable to walk, missing family visits, and being stuck here, but listen to your doctors and nurses, make friends, and you'll enjoy your stay.

I was accepted to Royal Rehabilitation Private Hospital in August 2020 after having spinal surgery. During my stay I had a lovely spacious room to myself with a window looking out to an external garden. It’s a peaceful pleasant place with manicured gardens. I had my own very spacious ensuite bathroom with everything well set up for a person who has admitted to this facility after spinal decompression and fusion surgery. 90% of the nursing staff was fantastic and the other 10% responded very well to my enquiries in order to make me happy. Nursing staff have gone above and beyond to attend to my every need especially Lisa and Rashini. The physiotherapy and occupational therapy extended their services all with a smile.
The air conditioning in my room was not at its best but bearable. Trying to get mobile phone reception fluctuated and was poor requiring me to go outside into the car park to send text messages. To make things worse Internet was just the same until the facilities IT Service and this issues was very quickly and effectively resolved - which I am ever so grateful as I was able to continue with some of working commitments via my lap top.
Getting back to my care - Words cannot explain how grateful I am to have been always informed, taken care of, nurtured and brought back to being stable and shown how to heal on all levels – all by employees of this facility.
A special thanks to Teresa, Referral Coordinator, for making my admission possible, Dr Bui and her medical team for managing my pain and listening to my needs, Kayla Occupational Therapist for going out to my home to make sure that I am ready for my next steps. John, Jane, Sally, Marcia & Gracia ( apologies if I have missed anyone) Physiotherapist that listened to my pain while helping me get though specific exercises to bring back my strength and last but not least a very very special thanks to all the truly amazing dedicated professional nursing staff that work tirelessly 24/7. Without their compassion and expert care my daily stress would have worsened.
I owe my recovery, outstanding care and strength to you all.
Once again, thank you and may you all be blessed!

After having a C level spinal injury and breaking many bones due to a motorbike accident in January. I am now able to walk. This is due to the dedication of the hard working team at Royal Rehab. A big thank you to Gabby and Kathy from the physiotherapy team, George from nursing, and Kristyn the social worker, these employees go above and beyond and are second to none in terms of skill set and professionalism. Thanks again.

My husband was accepted into the Brain Injury Unit at Royal Rehab after 5 months in the Northern Beaches Hospital. The RR teams helped him regain the ability to live safely & independently at home and in the community. Without their compassion and expert care our daily stress would have been far worse. They not only helped us survive the trauma but find a hopeful vision for life after rehab by nurturing us through the complex medical support system in ways we never expected. We’ll be forever indebted to Dr King’s wonderful inpatient teams for all they did to help shoulder our burden.

Royal rehab was my home away from home for months as I recovered from a severe traumatic brain injury in 2019. Every single aspect was top notch; from the staff and facilities right through to the food and the overall vibe of the place (and gee that chocolate mousse was something special). I felt like the luckiest unlucky skiier ever to have spent time there 😁

My son , Alex Noble suffered a catastrophic spinal cord injury in October 2018. Royal Rehab have been avid supporters of Alex since this time; firstly, looking after him for 8 months in the rehab facility, but more recently is the opportunity we have had for Alex to receive weekly therapy sessions using the amazing cutting edge technology called EKSO Bionics- an incredible scientific creation that assist Alex with standing and .. wait for it.... walking ! Alex has been beating his personal best with the number of steps at each session and the intricate mechanics of this wonder machine allow Alex to see how much more of the walking he is doing on his own. Whilst the EKSO Bionics is still doing the majority of the work, it's a common theme in our journey that the Little Big things provide the motivation to keep fighting the fight.
Thank you to the visionary CEO Matt Mackay and his team for bringing new possibilities for Alex and others suffering a Spinal Cord Injury .
