Chapel House

We came to Chapel House to get away from the city and had a wonderful time. The weather was cold at night and sunny by day.

The grounds are the highlight. They are private and peaceful with geese, cockatoos and rosellas on the property.

The house feels like a home, not just a house. It has high ceilings, lots of character and a large dining room. There are a few bathrooms and lots of indoor and outdoor seating as well as a big kitchen so it would be great for a weekend getaway for a group. The kitchen had anything we wanted to use for cooking. Theres a BBQ outside that we didn't use but looked fine. The wood fire place in the main living area is great. There was plenty of firewood.
The stars are amazing on a clear night.

The caretaker met us on arrival and was friendly. He kept to himself but would happily have helped us if we had questions.

Things to bring
- slippers.
- food and drinks. Shops arent close. We also bought our coffee machine. I loved having a flat white in the sun on the deck by the lake. It was better than any cafe I can imagine.
- swimmers in summer. The pool looked inviting
- gumboots/ closed shoes. If it rains, you'll want to explore once the sun is out again.

Final notes:
The main entry didn't have stairs. The house is single level with convenient parking. If you have difficulty with stairs or walking long distances it'd be fine.

Communication was great. We received a helpful fact sheet. Theres pubs, cafes and wineries in the region, the owner gave us a list but we didn't explore much this time.

My wife and our friends stayed at the Owl Pen Cottage which is in a perfect location surrounded by lovely gardens and ornamental lakes. There is a lovely sunroom overlooking the garden where you can see the geese and the peacocks passing by.
The two Bedrooms are spacious and the lounge room has a wood burning fireplace. The bathroom has a spa bath, and the kitchen is fully equipped with all the modern conveniences. Rita is absolutely amazing, very quick to response with inquiries and is very helpful. We all will definitely be back again to this amazing place.

We spent a weekend at Chapel House and had such a relaxing, enjoyable time. The grounds are stunning and a pleasure to walk around. The night sky was filled with stars, something you don't get to see in Sydney. Also a great spot to go on a hilly but scenic bike ride. Tony and Rita were fantastic hosts and they keep the place clean and really well looked after. Thank you!!

My husband and I along with our kids stayed at chapel house for 2 nights. It was so peaceful and relaxing!! My daughter enjoyed the animals and the snow. We were lucky enough to have experienced the snow as it only snows a few times a year. I highly recommend this beautiful place if you're looking to stay away from the city area for a few nights.

Chapel House and the entire property is a hidden gem from the hustle and bustle from city life and yet an easy drive from Sydney. The main house is absolutely stunning and every room has been built and decorated in character with its amazing history. The gardens and surrounding lakes are so beautiful and relaxing. Tony and Rita went above and beyond to make my family’s stay comfortable from electric blankets, a log fire and a fully equipped kitchen. The property is home to a range of animals including Llamas, peacocks and sheep. We had the privilege of witnessing the birth of a lamb. This along with a weekend of snow was a definite highlight. We can’t wait to come back!

Amazing getaway! We stayed 4 nights and it’s a beautiful taste of paradise! The gardens are stunning and fun to walk around and see the animals. The shops aren’t far and we even went to the goats cheese factory which was yum. Rita was a fantastic host and the place was very clean..would definitely go again!

Extremely Relaxing. Stayed 4 nights at Chapel House. The House was amazing, large kitchen to cook in, comfortable beds. It was pouring with rain the whole time but that added to the experience of cozying up by the fire in between games of pool on the full size table, farm animal feeding and bush exploring as well as walking around the beautifully kept gardens. The peaceful natural environment provides the perfect escape to recharge and de-stress. Hosts Rita and Tony are very friendly and helpful, you can see that they are keen to see you enjoy their family property as much as they do :)

Our stay at the Owl Pen Cottage was simply amazing! We had such a lovely and relaxing time, we loved the pool and the gardens, and the kids loved the animals :) The caretakers Collin & Jane gave us a warm welcome, they are so kind and so friendly.

We stayed at Chapel House for 4 days, it was so relaxing and stunning. Its so close to the city, and yet you can immerse yourself in the country - the perfect getaway. The farm was brilliant, the kids loved it. The catering was amazing too!

Stayed at Chapel House on the last weekend of spring and when we entered the front gate we felt we drove through a little piece of paradise with so much history and charm. Roses were in full bloom in the rose garden and the scent travelled through the air with the fresh breeze we had the whole weekend. The gardens throughout the property were immaculate and we were greeted by the friendly caretaker who later brought us fresh eggs for our amazing eggs benedict we prepared the next morning for breakfast. There were so many quiet shady spots where you could sit around and just chill, we found a perfect spot under an amazing huge tree for an anniversary picnic we had for friends which was thoroughly enjoyed. There was even an awesome deck we dined on one evening with fairy lights and candles where we even got to enjoy a paddle on the boat during dusk before the meal. It was so picturesque and serene as we drifted on the boat in the lake. The Owl Pen was so cosy and clean with all the necessities. We would stay in this piece of paradise again for sure. Thanks so much Rita and Tony for making this property available for us to enjoy.

Chapel House - a perfect escape from the city. My husband and I felt refreshed after our recent stay. Beautiful gardens, fresh air, warm fire and a comfortable cosy bed. What more can one ask for!
