Love this place so much, all the things are very nice, the best croissant ever, I and my partner spent a lot because we couldn't choose one.

Small hole in the wall bakery, well worth the visit!
The pastries are baked to perfection. I loved what I got - the brekky bread and the danish (with generous amount of fruit😍)

Great bread and sandies, lovely service. Limited menu. Had a pizza slice too and it was lovely.

For a such a small business it's great at what it does.

Bring sunnies and sunscreen.
Dog friendly.

I made an online order and drove 45 minutes to go pick it up..... MAN WAS IT WORTH IT! I decided to buy a couple of things to eat on the way home, the sticky bun and tahini cookie were amazing! The lady that served us was super sweet and her smile could light up a room. To guy that suggested we try the tahini cookie, not something I would usually go for but glad I did! Thanks guys and I will definitely come back, definitely worth the long drive!

Ovens Street Bakery is a micro bakery in the backstreets of Brunswick, just a few steps away from my office. It is my favorite spot in Melbourne, not only because the make super tasty breads, pizzas, sandwiches, toasties, jam filled donuts, pastries, but above all because of their super friendly service.

A big shout out to their entire team! Whenever I go to Ovens Street Bakery, they make me feel home. THANK YOU!

I discovered this local bakery through newspaper and online articles and had to try. It did exceed my expectations by far. Their sourdoughs and other pastries are fresh and warm, delicious and generous in quantities for the price. Some may consider the staff slow in passing the bread upon payment, however, that is because they are trying to select the very best out of the bunch for you. Besides, patience is a virtue. The place now has some seats outside as well. I'd definitely be back.

TLDR: 5*. Unpretentious, tasty and reasonably priced. Will definitely be back!

Many outdoor seats, great for warm and sunny weather - that blessed us last weekend! Note there is huge construction work on Ballarat Street, so come in from the Hope Street side instead (see screen shot from google maps below).

What to get? Well, the pastries are amazing. Get in line and wait to get to the counter. My husband shared a sesame fougasse (this ribbon shaped thing), savory danish with vegetables (probably zucchini and other gourd veggies), and green eggs roman-style pizza. The roman-style pizza is only available after 12:30pm, so we had to pay first and wait for it to be baked.

Sesame fougasse - so so good. chewy inside, nice crispy outside. My only peeve is that it is slightly sweet, probably honey on it; but thankfully it is not overly sweet, just a bit sticky for the fingers too. The sesame fougasse is HUGE, we had to keep half of it, otherwise we couldn't try anything else.

Savory danish - lovely layered pastry, very flaky and crispy. The insides were nicely baked and not overly dry. Great hopes for the croissant, which our friend enjoyed too!

Green eggs and ham - very yummy pesto sauce and chewy crispy dough. It is not overly sour, so I personally might like it a bit more fermented. The only negative is the overcooked egg yolk. I would prefer it to be more runny or half cooked, so maybe they could add it only at the final minute or less. Good size for half a meal for one person, so two slices would be perfect!

3 pastries less than $20! Sorry the details of price escape me..

I also got the oat chat (oat milk chai latte) - $5, decent, but nothing to wow about.

There's no bin around, but I feel like you should bus the table if you have any paper bags or disposables. Probably ask the ladies at the take out collection area if they could dispose it for you.

Such a cute place, and so lovely for a beautiful warm day. Yay for summer in Melb!

You may be a bit put off by the queues that form in front (I know I was), but it is worth absolutely every moment.

They have amazing croissants, some of the most amazing sandwiches, and excellent bread on offer alongside smaller treats like danishes and quiches. This is one of Brunswick's hidden gems that is absolutely worth stopping in.

Their online ordering systems leaves a bit to be desired, but for the quality of product, it's hard to beat.

Wow, fantastic pastries and bread.
Never had a Kouign Amann before, the crisp caramalised toffee top was awesome.
We used to on-line order system, which worked well. Our order was ready at 11:00am Saturday morning.
Enjoy!

Parrallel to Sydney Rd lies the microbakery @OvensStreetBakery where I got some pastries:
Kouign Amann - layers of lovely light pastry with a slightly sweet glaze, very tasty
Fruit Danish - coffee and oat mixture for some extra punch amongst the strawberry and custard filling, surrounded by a delicious pastry
Potato Pie - just needed a touch more salt, the warm comforting potato filling is very enjoyable in the thicker pie pastry
Basque cheesecake - I'm very partial to cheesecake and the Basque version is excellent, as too this version.

Online orders to beat the queue and coffee is available too. Limited seating available.

Melbourne’s best croissants and danishes. I can totally recommend Oven Street’s olive sour dough too. Weekly visits here have become a ritual for me and single handedly got me through lockdowns.

I went on a cold wet Friday morning. The queue was short and the mince tarts were heavenly. They didn’t have any donuts, so it looks like I’ll be heading back on Sunday!

Ovens St have been one of the key places that have gotten us through the Melbourne lockdown.

Their incredibly delicious bread, decadent pastries (those rhubarb danish's!!!) and their incredible customer service have really given us something to look forward to each week. Thursday's have become "Ovens St ordering day" in our house, and we very much look forward to our Friday deliveries!

Wonderful!!! Crispy and light not overly sweet rhubab &walnut danish- perfect for my liking. Surprisingly good Kouigb Amann, perfect amount of caramelized top yet still soft and fluffy on the inside. Love.
