Kyoto TeppanYaki Japanese Restaurant

I immediately want to describe this place as a total hole in the wall, but in such a way that’s so surprising. On arrival you’re greeted with cafeteria-style chairs surrounding the 5 hot plates in the restaurant. The menu is straightforward, all set menus to choose from. The service is fast, they’re sending out starters the moment you place the order.
The Chefs are fantastic. Full of charisma and jokes, they put on such a show and cook with such professionalism. The produce is fresh, delicious prawns, perfectly seared scallops - all of it just mouthwatering.
My ONLY critique, is they use cage eggs. Albeit the eggs are mainly used for one of the games called machine gun.

It was a great experience and my mother-in-law was extremely happy to celebrate her birthday here. The chef put on a fun show for all of us. The performance was entertaining, the food is great and we had a full stomach after the dinner. Excellent customer service and an unforgettable experience with the family!

Saw the overall review online and thought “Hey, why not!’ so a bunch of us went there for a birthday celebration. The chef was very entertaining and theatrical which was what we wanted. Atmosphere was great - lots of laughter and all round participation even for the other tables. Food was not bad and the venue is very spacious unlike some other teppanyaki restaurants where you get packed-in like sardines. Lovely experience for 3 hours (wow!) and we all walked away with smiles on our faces. And the chef even came out with candles on ice creams specifically for the birthday people. Very personalised.

We came here last week and it was very entertaining. There were only three families booked in that night and every family had one member that was celebrating birthdays. The chef Saw made it such special day for us. We were laughing and enjoying the food all night. He was throwing bowls, cooked eggs and raw eggs 😂 and teased the kids with tricks. It was such great fun. Highly recommend. 10/10

1st time come here with my family to celebrating my hubby's birthday. The chef is so friendly and has sense of humour. My girls were so impressed & so entertaining with his cooking performances in front of us even though they weren't eating. The foods was freshly cooked in front of us and it was so tasty and delicious. Definitely would come back to this place & would recommend this place to friend and family.

Food. Service. Atmosphere. Pricing. Quality. Everything was spot on. Thanks to "saw" who cooked our food he was very entertaining and professional. I am the type of person who likes to give credit where it is due and this restaurant truly excelled and stood out from the rest. Proper 5 star experience and I hope anyone reading this should try it.

Been in carlingford at the same spot for a very very long time. Over 20 years since I went there last.

Best teppanyaki in Sydney until proven otherwise.

This was my 1st time at Kyoto Teppanyaki & it was so much fun!!!

The chef was on point cooking for 22 people and was cooking between 2 grills... he definitely knows how too cook it!

All the food was amazing and delicious! I was not hungry at the end!

The entertainment was so funny. I was in stitches so much throughout the evening and Yes we all ended up wearing the food because some of us aren't the best at catching LoL

If definitely come back again for sure!

Wow!!! First time ever at Kyoto and what a night!! We had a party of 13 tonight for my sons 19th birthday! The food was amazing!! But the entertainment from chef Saw, was next level! I have never experienced such fun, interaction and laughter at a restaurant! They made us feel so welcome and made his birthday! Price is an absolute steal for the incredible food and entertainment! Half of us opted for the $50 per head meal and the other half the $45! And all of us were happy! If you don't like the raw fish, they happily cook it for you. It's BYO ALL alcohol but they do also sell it, so win win! We'll definitely be back!! Highly recommend for an awesome night out. 5**

Strongly recommend! The food was fresh and the service was the best. Only cost $40 you can get tempura, sashimi, steak, chicken, prawn and scallops. Really worth it! We’ll go back definitely.

Came here for a friend’s birthday and it was great! Pricing is considered cheap for the service they give and amount of food they provide. Chef was super fun and engaging - would really recommend!

We went with our family and friends and the experience was super fantastic! I really recommend it to all who do have events and get together. The food is super delicious, you'll really crave for more and the show is full of fun and laughter. COME AND EXPERIENCE THIS TEPPANYAKI! SUPER CHEAP and AFFORDABLE! Your $40 is worth it!

This place was so fun. The cooks cook Infront of you and do tricks and have games. This was our first teppanyaki and I will definetly come again. Not too much money, but was one of the most memorable and fun experiences with food. For some of our activities, they gave us bowls and made us catch raw eggs, cooked omelets and fried rice. I can't describe it much but it was so fun. Recommend for everyone that likes having fun, trying new things, celebrating or good at catching. But don't worry the chef's have trained years to throw food directly where they aim but sometimes they make cooked food miss your bowl on purpose so there are lots of laughs. You have to try it out! They also had a big fire on purpose.

We had a delicious and entertaining experience at Kyoto, the waitress and chefs were all so welcoming and hospitable. Highly recommend for a fun dinner with great variety in their teppanyaki course.

Really fun teppenyaki place. Prices are so reasonable and a really nice atmosphere. The chef is really engaging and very funny!

An unhinged experience that I'll remember for life. The energy and skill of the chef left us belly laughing , and it is simply impossible to leave in a bad mood.

My family and I went for dinner last night to celebrate my daughter's 15th birthday. The chef was great! He was skillful, entertaining and engaging with everyone at the table. The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. We all agreed it was a great evening. Certainly value for money. I cannot wait to go back.

So good! I would give it a six if I could… We had the best chef ever and he was so entertaining! The food is absolutely delicious. They had unique sauces too. Definitely coming back!
